Driver of cab 7153 almost ran me off the road and then proceeded to exit his vehicle and verbally berate me. This was due to his running a red at which I stopped. I reported him to the company but have not been followed up with. I also reported him to the police but there were no traffic cams. read more

TLDR - Absolute fucking garbage. Terrible abusive drivers - Avoid AVOID AVOID! THESE GUYS ARE THE REASON the can industry is terrible and should die off. I have never had such a caricature of a bad cabbie before. This happened on the evening of 8/22 on the way home from Burbank Airport. I only approached the cabs when my Uber driver couldn't find us and when called it was apparent they didn't speak a word of English, thus we could not communicate to each other. So in a huff, they canceled the ride on me. Not wanting to wait for another ride share, I approached the cabs. This older male cabbie approached me in a prius and seemed all too eager to take me and my partner. We loaded the bags into the car and I probably should have listened to instinct and got out of the car when I noticed him arguing at another customer. He was supposed to take him, but didnt because he didnt bring his bags to the car fast enough? Something like that but he was taking us and not him. He was already driving and running the meter before asking us where we were going. We told him north hollywood. He sat in silence for what seemed like an eternity, then I told him my address. He immediately started berating us. He kept saying over and over again that we weren't worth his time, that cabs should only be used for far away, we should have used Uber and he kept on like that. I tried to explain what happened as calmly as possible but he kept saying IM NOT HAPPY WITH THIS! THIS IS NOT WORTH IT! And me and my partner were in shock. I kept silent and trying to take pictures of anything with his information on it. The info said that his name was ZADOUR and he kept quiet from then on out when I noticed the signs that read that there was video and audio being recorded in the car. He got another call for a ride and literally screamed GET YOUR BAGS AND GET OUT! HURRY! HURRY! I HAVE TO GO! and when I tried to pay with card he barked YOU DONT HAVE CASH?! my girlfriend was pretty pissed at this point and said "yeah I have cash but you got change?" Sorry, we do normally tip well but there's no way we were gonna let this bully off with a tip. The ride was like $13.50 and he really thought we were gonna give him all $20 when he was being a dick the whole ride home. She wanted $5 back and he said "I'll give you $4?" And she said no and he went back to GET OUT! GET YOUR BAGS OUT! HURRY! And my girlfriend is matching his energy and saying GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY! JUST LIKE HOW YOURE RUSHING US! HURRY! HURRY! So he throws the cash back at us, slams the trunk and starts cursing at us in his native tongue. First off the operators don't understand English they ask the same questions over and over till you so frustrated that you want to hang up. Then they tell you a cab would be there in 10 to 15 minutes and it either doesn't ever come or it come a half hour to and hour later. So if you have other choices take them. Called at 8a to schedule a minivan airport pickup at 11a, Burbank residence to Burbank Airport. No show so I called in at 11:08a and got put on hold for 10 minutes. My wife called on a different phone and ordered a new cab and we were assured the guy was 5-7 mins away. We asked for a discount as this is affecting our ability to get on an airplane in time. Nothing offered. These companies can complain about ride sharing but with no accountability and zero customer service, they are responsible for their own demise imo. Simple. Called em the night before to arrange pickup at 10:15am. The guy arrived at 10am. I wasn't fully dressed, so I called the company and they told me no problem, he would wait. I walked out to meet him at 10:15am. He was very polite and pleasant. Got me to the Metro station without driving like a maniac. Helped me with luggage, and I tipped. The only negative (and the reason for a 4) was that he suggested a route which--although simple--would have involved taking the "wrong" diagonal slant of Lankershim which would have given him an extra 1/2 mile of driving. I corrected him and told him the most direct way, which he took without issue. I have a problem with cabbies that try to take advantage of people not knowing local geography and going ways that lengthen the trip even a tiny bit, whether do to route or due to waiting at lights with long cycles. Overall, I'd definitely recommend calling these guys. But watch your route! read more

I generally have not have had pleasant cab experiences since I moved to Los Angeles, apparently there are not rules here as what is ethical or not but overall I have had the worst experience with City Cab. Sat evening I arrived at the Universal City red line station with about an hour to go before visiting hours were over at St. Joseph's hospital to visit a friend who recently fell quite ill. There was one City Cab waiting at the cab stand, so I ran over ready to jump in. Now I get paid direct deposit and do not make it a habit to carry much cash on me at all. In today's world everyone should be equipped to take VISA. As I approached the cab (his doors and windows were open) I could hear him talking on the phone to a friend about business being slow and not making much money, so I assumed he would be happy to take a passenger. Imagine my surprise, when I told him my destination and he said it was too short a trip and not worth the fare, then agreed to take me as long as I paid cash, even agreeing to take me to an ATM to pull out the cash (my bank is not local and it cost me a LOT of money to pull out cash so I only do it from grocery stores when I can take money over for no fee). I said I would tip him enough to make up for whatever VISA fee he would be charged but he refused to take me. So I start running around frantically looking for a bus (the next one wasn't coming until visiting hours were over) or another cab and no luck. During that time another 2 City Cab's pull up to the cab stand and the 3 of them start hanging out and having a conversation. I went back over and in tears begged one of the other 2 to take me when they say the same thing. The short distance was not worth the fare. Then they start making up some excuse about City Cab's credit card machine being out of service the whole week and that was the real reason why (which of course I did not believe). All 3 drivers begin yelling at me that I am not a smart woman to not keep more cash on me, and one of them is starring at me like I'm a piece of meat. I returned to the main intersection to hail a cab, when another City Cab approached. I explained the situation and he said they other cabs were lying, the credit card machines were working just fine, but he wouldn't take me unless the trip was over $20.00 on VISA. So he left and I managed to hail another cab company who happily took me (with 15 minutes left to spare on visiting hours). The fare was $12.50, and I tipped $8.00 out of gratitude for what he did. I cannot believe these guys would pass up any money and refuse to take me so they could sit around and chat. In the past, I have had many City Cab drivers offer to exchange "services" for fare when I have pulled out my VISA card which I of course am appalled at and refuse to do, generally end up walking to an ATM and pulling cash. I will NEVER use City Cab again even if it means I have to walk 10 miles to get to my destination. read more

I use City Cab at least five or six times a week and they are getting far too hit and miss. They can be quick, on time, polite and turn up driving a clean new car, or slow, late or very late (even no-show), and arrive driving a beater that's dirty and smells. They've recently installed a new dispatch system that is truly terrible. They no longer know my details - I have to repeat them every time - that needs to get better. Note for the reviewers on here that say "their rates are competitive" - they have to be, it's LA City that sets the rates, not the cab company. Why did I suddenly decide to write this today when I've been using them for years? There was maybe one time where one driver wasn't as friendly as the others. Rates are competitive and they don't extort unlike a cab company we once used. The worst cab service I had ever experienced. Me and my gf were at Universal Hollywood waiting for our Curb ride and a city cab came claiming that he was our ride. In the middle of the ride, we got a call stating that our ride was reading at Universal and we asked our current driver about the matter. He told us that he was no.1 and deserved our business. He put our address in the GPS, but he obviously did not use it because he dropped us off TWO STREETS away from our address! As tourists, we were lost and did not have wifi. Still the cab driver was sent to the wrong city. I had to wait 40 minutes before the cab actually arrived to my address. I would think it would be easier to just send another cab that was in the area being that the company is only 5 miles from my address, but no. This is our first time using City Cab (also known as Bell Cab, Yellow Cab and People Cab under the guise of San Gabriel Transit). I am convinced that this is done purposely to confuse consumers and make it difficult to know where to direct blame for poor and nonexistent service. In our case, we requested a wheel chair accessible taxi on Christmas Day to have our aunt picked up for Christmas dinner. We were assured she would be picked up at 3:30. At 4:30, I get a call from my 80 year old aunt that she has been sitting outside in the cold waiting waiting for a cab that never arrived. We promptly called the same cab company and they told us that even though her name was in their system, they did not service the area where my aunt was. We had talked to them on two occasions before that and they had never once indicated such a thing. So, not only did they not pick her up, but they never bothered to call us and they falsely made a commitment to pick her up. By this time we could not make any other arrangements and of course the one day of the year my aunt most looks forward to spending with her family was ruined. Good job Shitty Cab! It's good we have forums like Yelp to put the word out and have a voice......a way of feeling some kind of satisfaction, because all I got when I complained to the company manager was an empty apology. I am only giving this business one star so I can write a review, telling people to avoid them at all costs. I made a reservation a day in advance and they never showed up because they 'could not get a cab to the area'. Really? You took my reservation and couldn't get a cab to my area at the time I scheduled it well in advance? I called them and made a reservation for a shuttle to the airport. Key word 'airport', meaning I have a definitive place to be at a particular time. On the morning of my pickup they were 5 minutes late so I called to check in. They told me they had to refer me to Fiesta Cab because they didn't have a cab in the area. I called Fiesta Cab. Same excuse. Although I had given myself an extra 45 minutes before I had to get to the airport, their issues caused me to get to LAX late. I made my flight but it was after the run around from City Cab and Fiesta Cab. Luckily I called another cab company who managed to show up within 10 minutes of my call, at 4am. Impressive. read more

I decided to try City Cab for the first time in a while last night I usually take ubers because I've had bad experiences with this taxi service throughout the years but my phone was about to die and I had extra cash 1st of all the operator always fails to give you an accurate estimated time of arrival ALWAYS 2nd if there is nobody in the area they don't have the common curtesy to let you know it'll be longer then expected 3rd the drivers...they are either unfriendly, rude or worst case have had poor hygiene...to the point where I specifically remember the mans odor being so over powering I was disgusted and couldn't breathe...lucky me I always seem to get the same driver every time I ordered a taxi late night in Burbank Last but not least too expensive I called City Cab around 2:26 am this morning The woman on the phone said 5-15 minutes and because I know better I asked if there was anyone in the area She said yes there's someone close by I believed her and waited When it was close to 3am 30 minutes have gone by and I call again to check the status on my ride The woman who I originally spoke with said 5-10 minutes After another 25 minutes I get a call saying my cab has arrived I put my shoes on and walked down stairs and when I came out the guy was driving away I tried to catch him and he wouldn't stop I waited over an hour for my ride Got the run around and after only 3 minutes following my phone call the cab took off That's incredible to me I wait 1 hour for you and you leave after 3 minutes? The taxi arrived really fast, my guy, Lorenzo, a DF expatriot was friendly, courteous, and surprise surprise, had a really neat van. He even let me smoke in there! I got a card and called him back to pick me up. He arrived at the second pick up even faster than the first! This was a most excellent taxi experience ever. Kinda makes me feel sad that I'm eventually going to get my wheels back, because there's nothing like riding instead of driving. Don't drink and drive folks! We called at 8:15 PM to order a cab. Was told it would take 30 minutes. At 8:45 pm no cab had arrived. Called back, took almost 10 minutes of redialing and waiting on hold to reach a dispatcher. Was told that cab would arrive in 10 minutes. Asked dispatcher if he was sure the cab would arrive. He told us he was sure it would arrive in 10 mins. Waited until 9:15 pm. Spend 15 more mins re-dialing and waiting on hold, when phone was finally answered the dispatcher hung up on me immediately. Spent another 10 mins calling back. When I finally got a dispatcher I was now told that there are no cabs in our area, and we should try walking to a hotel and seeing if we can get a cab there. City Cab waited over 90 minutes and lied to us before admitting there was no cab service available in our area. We had non refundable tickets to an event, because of City Cabs negligent behavior we where not able to make that event, and lost $20.00 on tickets. read more

Shitty cab is more like it. on the 10/9/2012 I waited for one hour and fifteen minutes for a cab near Burbank! At 5PM I called for a mini van cab because I needed to fit luggage in it. at 5:15 when no cab showed up I called them back only to find out they never sent one because they couldnt find my address - then why did they tell me theyre sending one in the first place??? I had no internet access on my phone so couldnt locate a different cab company, so I kept on waiting for the City cab... at 5:40 I called again to see what's up with my promised cab and they said they're sending the next one available... at 6PM I gave up, called again to find out no cab is in line to pick me up...maybe the next one available... at 6:15 while waiting for a different company I saw a Citycab pulling into the parking lot for less then 10 seconds, turning around and driving away...seriously... I would never write one of these if it weren't for the fact I just had the absolute worst cab experience I've ever had. From Burbank airport - a driver who spoke no English, had no idea where he was going, literally took me way out of the way until I got on Google Maps for him to listen. But oh yeah, he couldn't hear or pay attention. He may have in addition been on meds. Finally got on Freeway in two lanes with cars honking and driving about 30. When I told him to turn he kept saying "turn?"... I'm not sure he knew left or right. Horrifying late night ride. When he got to my house, miraculously he knew how to say, "give me your credit card." I have used city cab a lot....the past few times....it has been really bad.....today.....the worst.....waiting for the cab that was 15 minutes (needed to get to the airport). I called...and they didn't have a cab that could come get me....(I had ordered the cab the night before... So no real good excuse....) the recommended a sister company....yellow cab.....which was just as much of a cluster fu**. I did make it to the airport on time. I used City Cab as it was the only cab at the Burbank airport. I ask ahead of time to make sure that he accepts credit card payments because I did not have enough cash on me to pay for the ride. He said that they do accept credit card. The guy was nice enough during the trip. He was lamenting about how Uber was putting them out of business. I felt bad for him and was going to give him a generous tip. However, when I tried to pay at the end of the ride, the credit card screen with the swiper is completely blank. I swipe several times. The driver says there is something wrong with my card, (I used the same card earlier that day). He has me swipe another card. and then a 3rd credit card. He just keeps saying there is something wrong with my card. It is so frustrating. He wouldn't let me leave or give me any other options. I stupidly obliged and kept swiping cards. Then I had to ask a friend to meet me with cash (I had enough for the ride but not enough for tip) so that I can pay him. Afterwards, I read online on forums about how cab drivers pretend the machine is down so that you can pay with cash and they don't have to pay the credit card fee. Or there are some even more devious people out there with credit card skimmers. In any case, it is a very unsettling feeling. If his machine is down, he shouldn't have kept asking me to swipe more and more credit cards. I did try to report it (the LA Taxi Services number doesn't work, -- 800-501-0999-- it just disconnects) I called the taxi company to report their credit card machine is down (since the driver is supposed to disclose that before the ride). of course the receptionist doesn't really do anything with that info and just says "there is probably no issue and just keep an eye on the credit card statement". Now I see why they are going out of business. This sort of stuff doesn't happen with Uber or Lyft. Hopefully I'll learn my lesson and stay away from them in the future. read more

I had already found an uber and was halfway to airport by the time they showed and they tried to say it was my fault for not picking up their call earlier. I'm not sure what's going on with City Cab, but if you need to rely on a cab picking you up promptly in any way, steer clear - especially business travelers. This week I needed to fly out of Burbank airport. I called the day before the cab was needed and scheduled a 7am pickup. 7am came the next morning, and no cab. I call their number, and was told they were running a few minutes late, and the customer service associate hung up before I could say anything. I called back a few minutes later (still no cab), and demanded that they get someone out there soon - I was in danger of missing my flight. They told me they were having problems finding a nearby unit - not sure how that's possible since I called 16 hours earlier. We booked City Cab the day before our departure, and the dispatcher was efficient and courteous. The cab arrived early at our home, the driver helped us with the luggage, the car was clean, the service friendly and polite, and the fare reasonable. Our route was from our Toluca Lake home to the Burbank airport, and the entire service was better than expected. The driver did these extra things: 1. He was quiet in front of our home so as to not disturb the neighbors during our early morning departure. 2. He was very considerate and careful with our luggage 3. He consulted with us to make sure he was taking the most efficient, shortest route to the destination. Upon our return, there was a line of City Cabs at the Burbank airport. We took the one that was front in line. Again, the service was professional and friendly. The driver took even more care, if that is possible, with our luggage and delivered us promptly to our doorstep. I found absolutely no fault whatsoever with City Cab and would not hesitate to use them again and again. Reviewers who have unrealistic expectations are doomed to disappointment. These cars are cabs! They are not limousines. The drivers for the most part are recent immigrants just as our grandparents were. Cut them some slack, people!!! read more

ZERO STARS: Terrible experience with Cab #7261 tonight. After spending all sunny day walking at Universal Studios, I decided to call a cab from the back end of City Walk using the handy Taxi Phone they have in front of Buca de Bepo. Middle-aged Hispanic man gave me so much attitude & lip because I asked to be taken to the Universal Hilton. He went on & on about how I should have just taken the shuttle & how he lost his "place in line" & how he had "taken a chance" by responding to the call. I bit my lip so hard from responding to his idiocy & insensitivity (because my child was with me) I think my mouth was bleeding!!! When he dropped us off, I gave him a $20 bill (the fare was $5) & told him "God bless you." I wanted to teach my kid a lesson. I then promptly called their company & lodged a complaint. I will be checking in again in a few days to make sure they reprimanded this man. Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had in a taxi!
