I was really glad to have a local pharmacy open in this area. I've been going to this pharmacy for a while -- they always answer the phone quickly, which is great. Sometimes they aren't the best about notification when prescriptions are ready, but usually it's fine. The store itself is small, with an okay selection of items. They definitely have some items missing that I wish they would stock, or they don't restock things that I buy regularly. They also do devote a lot of retail space to candles and other scented items that are on the pricey side. Overall, I am happy that this store opened, and I'm generally satisfied with the pharmacy. I think i found my new pharmacy. One they are one of the few open til 8pm. I had been at urgent care and they were open. I went in a beautiful big space the girl on the counter gave me a friendly greet. Even though I was going straight to the back to the pharmacy. I walked in to this pharmacy when I moved into the neighborhood to specifically ask about two hard to find scripts. The woman behind the counter said yes, we can fill these. One of them is for my husband and has not been filled by them since we moved in. The other one, for me, they said had an insurance hold and made me wait two weeks to fill, promising to call with updates. Of course I had to call all the time and today, after being told the insurance issue cleared up, they decided to tell me this medication is on back order and they don't know the last time they've had it in stock. Liars and time wasters. Back to CVS it is. It's a bummer, it would have been great to have a neighborhood pharmacy. read more

The claims about price gorging is true. I'm not sure about all the other positive reviews, unless people don't really pay attention to what they're paying...? Reposting this here, since my review was removed from Google Reviews. MY REFUND WAS ALSO CANCELED AFTER MY REVIEW. I bought 3 bottles of 70% isopropyl alcohol ($2.99) and 1 bottle of 91% isopropyl alcohol ($3.59). The cashier took the more expensive bottle and scanned that four times and insisted that the price of all four is the same. It's a small difference, but it's dishonest. I had a change of heart and I decided to return two bottles, one 70% isopropyl and the one 91% isopropyl. A different cashier took the cheaper bottle and scanned that twice. Still a small difference, but still dishonest. After posting my initial review on Google Reviews, City Chemist canceled my refund. I essentially paid $14.36 for two 16oz bottles of 70% isopropyl alcohol. Bless the people who had (hopefully true) good experiences, but City Chemist is a horrible scam. Shop at Target if you can. EDIT: I called City Chemist and confronted them about the canceled refund. The lady who picked up seemed a bit freaked out that I was watching my transactions and insisted that I was going to get it. Great selection of items and very happy they are so close to home. Finally a place that is opened on a Saturday. This is a huge pharmacy as well. The person I spoke with answered all my questions very quickly. Its nice knowing that someone can take the time to help me with my information to switch over to the new location. The inside of this location is big compared to other mom and pop locations. I'm just excited to be able to walk less then a mile to get cold medication or medication at all at this point. If there's something that isnt in stock that you need they will order it asap. I'm very please with the great service that they provide. They also have a great selection of beauty products to choose from. I mean I don't see how you can go wrong here. They are directly across from the Citibank building which means the trains are right across the street. You can get here by hoping on the 7, G, E and M train. There's some buses here to that can get you to this location as well. They send you an email when your prescription is ready as well as a text message. I've been coming here for years. Love the staff !! They're always available for a quick question, if I'm browsing they'll ask if I need help and I'm always greeted when I walk in. The store is always spotless and well stocked and my wife loves the cosmetic area. They always seem to have the odd ball item that you can't get elsewhere and if it's not stocked they'll order it for you. Peter the supervising pharmacist and owner is always a pleasure to deal with and is always available for a question. I always wonder why someone will go to a chain and wait 2 hours when City Chemists always fills my prescriptions in minutes. My experience with the pharmacy was not so great. I had a prescription for Gabapentin, which is a seizure medication. I don't have insurance so I knew there would be an out of pocket cost. They told me it would be $50 to fill 60 capsules. It was too expensive, so I consulted another pharmacy and they filled the same quantity for $5. When I asked City Chemist to transfer the prescription, they tried to haggle and said they would give me a discount for $35... I mean, I know a pharmacy is a business but thought this was extremely shady... a 10x mark up is just a bit absurd. read more

When I worked in DUMBO (which I hated), I had a love-hate relationship with the City Chemist there. It was very convenient, especially with its blow-dry bar for any post-work special events, but it seemed symptomatic of the decadent, expensive neighborhood, and it didn't seem to have cheap, little items I might need on my way to and from work. Now that I've made my home in the somewhat less-flashy Long Island City, though, I was happy to see a City Chemist come along. I find regular shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, skin cream, etc. at a comparable price to the larger chain pharmacies in the area. And I have to admit, in pandemic times I love the beauty section, which feels like an old-fashioned parfumerie (I'm thinking "She Loves Me") and is an easy way to find makeup and hair supplies without ordering online. They sometimes don't have things I need, like tights, but the staff is always very friendly, attentive, and helpful. You can also sign up for their rewards program and occasionally get coupons. read more

I love the store-- they sell great products that I can only get at high-end stores in Manhattan. Things are definitely overpriced but the store itself is beautiful. The issue I had is with the pharmacy a few times over. They charge absurd prices for prescriptions I've never paid for previously. That I could get over, but they recently switched out my birth control to a completely different dosage and brand that I cannot take because of medical issues. I have been on it for months before my OB raised significant concerns and refused to write a prescription for that particular kind of birth control. If you're going to change someone's prescriptions at least be knowledgable on what to change and the potential interactions. I was told that the new brand/ dosage was almost identical to my current BC. Turns out it's a brand and dosage I cannot take for medical reasons and have been putting myself at significant risk of stroke for three months now. Absolutely careless and unforgivable. read more

Wow! I'm a QPS resident and I'm so glad this store opened up! I have nothing but positive reviews of this store! The manager I met went above and beyond to help me. They not only have a great selection of traditional products like medicine, cosmetics, toiletries (everything from toothpaste, to cold or allergy medicine, to shampoo) that you would find in a Duane Reade, but also some nicer more upscale brands and products in cosmetics/home goods. The store is clean and well merchandised and is a great spot for a last minute item, or even a gift! I have never had a pharmacy care so much about people/me. They know me by name, and always go out of their way to make sure I have what I need. If they don't have it, they'll get it for you (quickly) or find a way to help you. Even in the craziest of times, they work to do whatever to get what you need. They've helped me get specific psoriasis/eczema wash, specific brands of prescription meds, face creams, etc. The level of service and care here is far superior to any other pharmacy I've been to in my life. read more

I looked into renting a Medela hospital grade breast pump. I called on a Monday and was told "we always have pumps"! I called Tuesday and they had to get from their Brooklyn location, told it would be in Wednesday. Come Wednesday and I said I can get it by early afternoon. Then told the late afternoon would be better because they don't have it yet. When I finally picked up the pump they didn't have rental agreements. I signed a piece of printer paper and was blindly told they didn't have ANY accessories for the pump. I was in the NICU with my daughter where they give Medela kits out for free. WHY WOULD ANYONE NOT TELL ME THEY HAVE NOTHING FOR THE PUMP?? Without the parts, it's virtually useless. spoke to countless people (each clueless). I was told I can go to their Brooklyn location. I have a newborn and toddler, it's a heatwave, like I want to be in traffic on the BQE. I received most pump parts later in the day from a friend. I called the pharmacy 10am when they open and said I ONLY need tubing. Was called at 1:30 they don't have separate pieces, only a kit. Completely a mess. read more

Horrible customer service. I loved this place since its opening and... until today. I spent at least hundreds of dollars here. The very unpleasant experience happened today. A girl who doesn't know what to do and not knowing what's wrong works there. When I pay, I noticed that there was a problem with their rewards system and asked her to fix it. She never understood what was wrong even after the manager came and fixed it. If there's a problem and it's your fault, you apologize. She didn't do it until the end and even showed her attitude to me, instead, a manager did it. I would have understood it could happen if she was new. But she said she is not new. It's even worse. People who do not know how to do customer service should not be engaged in the service industry. I seriously want to suggest to the company that she will choose another job. This store makes me happy. Everything is neat and clean and they carry great brands. Service is always thoughtful, quick and friendly. Pharmacy service is excellent as well. I love popping in to see new items / seasonal products they have in store. We don't have much traditional shopping in LIC so this store fills that void. The best pharmacy in LIC! I had went to a dermatology chain clinic with a location here in LIC. That clinic kept pushing for me to use a specific pharmacy for "better pricing" that was incredibly inconvenient. After handfuls of phone calls I kept getting the run-around and they never sent over my prescriptions to City Chemist, they would send over a prescription to medications that were back ordered, or try to convince me on the phone that this specific pharmacy they kept pushing on me was going to give me a good price. I called over to City Chemist and one of the pharmacists, Dominick, was incredibly helpful! He was persistent in getting my correct prescriptions sent over even after having to call back over there multiple times because they would never send over my prescriptions, even following up with them the next day multiple times. This is the best service I've ever gotten from a pharmacy and was great to find a place that advocates for their customers! read more

I am so glad City Chemist opened near me. It makes me so happy to walk into the store. The vibe is just so chill. Besides a pharmacy and other products carried at drug stores, they have a well-selected array of gift items and luxury personal items (i.e. Nest Candles, smaller home decor like pillows, delicate jewelry, Milton Brown, seasonal items such as ornaments, trendy clothing basics, etc.) The prices are good and there is a rewards program - you get $5 back every time you spend $100. Don't use this pharmacy. I was super excited to finally have a pharmacy in Court Square, but I found the service here to be horribly unprofessional. Had to get simple antibiotics for an infection and it took them 2 days to fulfill my prescription. They claimed their delivery guy canceled on them because of traffic (???) and then they said they might be able to grab a few pills for me from their other location which was also bizarre. Luckily, I had some leftover antibiotics that I took in the meantime, but if you need a prescription filled ASAP, I would stick with Duane Reade or CVS by the waterfront or you may be dead by the time they get your your pills. read more
