It's just like all the other duane reade stores in NYC. It is pretty convenient for people who live nearby in LIC. There can be lines during peak times like after work which results in a good 10-15min wait. Store is pretty big and has all your basic needs. I also noticed they started locking the fridge doors to the beer but there is still beer in the open area next to it. You can ask an associate to help you unlock if you want to buy. Just get in and get out with what you're looking for and be on your way. read more

Your typical Duane Reade. I like that the location is convenient for the people who live around it, and that's why I visit here. It has everything that I come to Duane Reade for usually--plasters, ointments, shampoo, toilet paper, etc. There's also a frozen food section and they also weirdly sell alcohol (which I've never bought but to each their own). I'll definitely be coming back because the location is convenient for me and the staff are competent (usually quick) and friendly. read more

In the days before face masks and social distancing, this Duane Reade was one of my least favorite places to go to in the hood. The place often ran out of things I needed and the customer service was always atrocious, despite a relatively beefed up staff. However, it seems the COVID measures have been taken seriously and they've stepped up their game. The store as a result is improved and things aren't so bad after all. So what gives? First off, the store is so much cleaner now. We're talking spotless to where they're wiping down doors and clear signage is up for patrons to acknowledge the current pandemic precautions. Wear a mask or don't come in. And on the plus side? They had a deal for hand sanitizers and at less than $2 each, it wasn't even marked up. At one point there was a limit for each customer, but now they've been lenient with folks buying more than a few bottles. Hopefully no one clears out the aisles. On top of that, they've done a pretty good job in keeping the store well stocked. I found toilet paper and plenty of sanitizing products available and no hoarding from folks; time has passed to where the hysteria has died down. Gone are the days of me leaving empty handed, now I have a bag full of everything from snacks to toiletries to drinks and now cleaning wipes + sanitizers. Take that germs. However, the customer service shoddiness still remains. While they're clearly a little more on edge, they're not really enforcing the distancing between customers and some employees are gloveless and taking off their masks often (hard to breathe?). Had a vaccine appointment here despite the bad reviews. Sure enough, morning of -- after letting my job know I'd be stepping out, they called to cancel my appointment because "they don't know when the pharmacist will be in and is late." They then suggested to reschedule from 10:30-12 so I suggested 11:30. Then, they said actually we can't then how about the afternoon. This place just needs to get it together. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this store and their staff. They always solve any problems I may have in getting my medication's. They are always pleasant, efficient, and ready to go above and beyond. I have had to transfer prescriptions to other Duane Reade, or Walgreens and it always gets screwed up. Pretty ridiculous shiznit going on here. Made an appointment for vax at 3:30. Signed in no problem. No one has come to give the shot- it's 4:00 and counting. I would have walked out (like a lot of people around me have already) but at this point I don't see the point. I don't understand how it takes so long to administer a shot. I'm one of 3 people in line, and it's around 30 minutes between patients at this rate. Sell Walgreens stock I guess- or just go anywhere but this location for a Covid shot. read more

If you want to be looked at like a poor person and not helped come here. I got looks and denied my EBT card because there was a mark on it. The last time I went this was not an issue because they manually entered the numbers in for me. The manager here was completely unapologetic and didn't even want to try to help me. Super disorganized, lost prescriptions, takes about 7-10 hours from when they receive the prescription until it's ready and even then they sometimes can't find it. There's only one young lady and a guy that actually care. The rest of them are pretty rude and could care less if people sit waiting in a 10 person line. They continue just walking around making themselves look busy. I keep forgetting how terrible the service is whenever I'm asked what pharmacy I use. But this will be the last time. I rather walk 10 blocks to get to the other nearest pharmacy. Bye!!! read more

Staff were always very friendly. They always had items in stock. The pharmacy was on top of things. They are super dog friendly.

This location is clearly stuck in the past. They only carry plastic water bottles. There are no other brand alternatives like flow, just water or path water which are non plastic alternative brands. This company/store needs to keep up with times and be conscious of the planet. Until then I will be shopping at the CVS nearby that has more options. read more

I think as many people surrender and leave than wait to check out. Minimum check out time here is 5-10 minutes minimum, at what feels like all times. It's like going to the DMV. I would give less stars to the Pharmacy if I could. I know it's a busy time but your customer care service needs much improvement. You don't start to help a customer and then walk away to do something else and forget they are there. After 25 minutes of waiting', you are told they are not able to fill prescription since they are out of stock. Instead of going the extra mile to assist me in finding another Duane Reade that had my medication in stock they had me wait another thirty minutes. I have had other issues with them but this one finally did me in. read more

I loathe Duane Reade...especially this location! They have a monopoly on the area being the only store of it's kind nearby. I guess I'll wish on my lucky stars that a CVS will open anywhere nearby. CVS has the best sales and I've always found CVS staff to be incredibly helpful. I've always hated DR and thought they were redic overpriced but this location has me (and everyone else in the hood) by the b@lls since they're the only option I only come to this DR when I have no other choice. I prefer to buy stuff at CVS by work and schlep it home on the train rather than walk 2 blocks here. I was prompted to write this review because the staff here are the absolute worst. I went in for something quick that I needed and ended up getting a few things from the Christmas clearance because they were (supposed to be) 90% off. Of course they didn't ring up correctly and I got attitude from the cashier when I asked her to fix it. The manager had to come over and help her fix it who also greeted me with a very nasty, condescending attitude. The icing on the cake is that when I got home I was STILL overcharged for 2 items. Not like it's much but it's the damn principle. I'm so annoyed and will be returning the stuff tomorrow just because I'm so pissed off. Pretty sad when a store that charges you just under $900 for a roll of toilet paper can't at least honor the prices they advertise. STAY AWAY!!! Pharmacy is terrible. I called to ask if they took my new insurance. They said to just come in with the new info. Went all the way there and apparently, they don't take my insurance. What a waste of time just because they couldn't be bothered to answer some questions on the phone. read more

When you are selling medicines, you just need to be nicer. Why? Well, it's obvious. I came here looking for help on some medicines. I asked for help and could tell that she just don't want to help. Make sure you check prices on their own website/ scan in the app before checking out. I purchased 5 items and they ranged from $2-$8 cheaper EACH online/ pick-up in store. I'm unsure how they can do this but the cashier was very helpful and adjusted, no questions asked. I can understand a few cents difference but 2x the price on average was a complete shock to me. read more

Nothing worst than dealing with snappy/impatient/intern customer service when waiting on you flu medications!!!!! PS: Consider going to Nature's Prescription Pharmacy 50th Ave for a truly patient centric experience (carefully reviewed/repeat my medication use instructions, called the insurance provider on my behalf to clarify coverage, generic option when they thought cost may be an issue). The store is nice looking and usually has what I want. The pharmacy is why I I don't like it. The pharmacy is slow and incompetent. They are the slowest EVER. When someone is waiting in store for a prescription and you tell them 15 min and they are standing nearby in plain site I would expect anyone to fill that prescription but no...they made me wait 45min even after I asked what was going on. I've worked in a pharmacy and it literally takes 20 seconds to fill a prescription and I would always fill it right then and there. That day there were about 4 people back there which is excessive and they still couldn't handle it. It was a pathetic showing. Besides that a lot of the techs have the worst attitude. Never have anything I need. I've noticed them increase the prices on items I buy. Example: I used to buy a pack of 5-hour energy for 4.99 now it's 7.99. Interesting pricing. $30 for a can of Similac.. I tried to use $5 Similac coupon that i got FROM Similac, and it became a long arduous conversation at the cashier, and was never able to use it. Without a doubt it's a very nice, clean, and neat store. Unfortunately they are VERY high priced and take advantage of the neighborhood. The Pharmacy often only has the common items in stock, so you'll have to wait while they try to order what you need. You can get what you need here in a pinch, but you will pay for it! read more

I got yelled at by the dark haired Pharmacist with a ponytail this morning for absolutely no reason-in front of my 2 year old son. I have been filling the same prescriptions for 5 years at this pharmacy and have never had an issue. I called my Dr and she had to call due to this girls incompetence. read more

I live right around the corner and I am always here at the pharmacy department. The manager and workers here are super nice and I never had any issues with them. The pharmacy department can be slower than the ones in the city but it's not really an issue for me. I wish they had more selections for snacks. Lots of chips options are missing. read more

It's the only pharmacy in the area so this is our go to for pretty much anything even if they are more expensive than their competitor. The good: 1. Staff are very friendly. They try to help you the best way they can. 2. That's about it. The bad or what they should improve on: 1. Managers of this store should simply train on reordering points. I mean how can you not have nail polish remover or the Vicks Pads when you sell the Vicks humidifiers? I see this big guy in a tie always bossing people around but not really doing his job by inspecting what needs to be ordered before they run out of it. Just because they are the only ones in the neighborhood shouldn't mean we as consumers should just be okay with this. 2. They are more expensive considering they are not open 24 hours. I would pay more just because if I get what I need when I need it. I just hope their competitor opens up soon so we have a choice. (Heard one is opening 3 blocks up shhhh!) read more

I agree that this is the nicest Duane Reade ever. I've gone here several times since it opened and it's still in great shape with things always organized. It feels very spacious and well organized in comparison to many other Duane Reades and other pharmacies in NYC. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there but when I am in the area, it definitely works. It's been pretty cluttered at times & they moved some items around, just when I was getting used to where something was. I love this pharmacy however. Every staff member is so easy to work with. And they get my many prescriptions ready SO fast. I have not had experiences as the other reviews have. Maybe it's the time frame when I go-which is usually in the middle of the day...? read more

The app went kaflooy I guess. Ordered my scrip online, ready to be picked up. Nope! No record of it and had to wait 15 minutes.

I had a pretty stressful experience at this Duane Reade, last week. So much so that I had to call the 1-800 customer service line to prepare for what I anticipated would be a very annoying effort to return a product (I never ended up returning it because I knew the process would be very very annoying). This Duane Reade is actually impeccably maintained (super clean and very spacious), and the employees there are very nice. But last time I was there, after paying for my items, my boyfriend noticed my receipt was exceptionally higher than he thought it should be (and he is NOT a frugal person -- so I took it seriously). In reviewing the receipt, I noticed that two identical items were charged at two separate prices -- one at $2 (the correct price) and the other at $9 (shady). When I went up to the cashier to have them correct the charge, it turned into this unnecessarily long, arduous, uncomfortable process where the cashier didn't seem to believe us, couldn't figure out how to correct the charge on my credit card (giving me cash and then asking me to repay), wouldn't trust that we were pointing to the correct/relevant item on the receipt (when we totally were), and began talking to another colleague about this "odd" situation (which is one of my biggest customer service faux pas -- you don't do that in front of a customer). She was a young and innocent employee, but just seemed to be poorly trained (or just majorly distracted). Then, when I got home, I realized that in the cashier's inability to correctly fix the incorrect charge resulted in her forgetting/failing to give me my original receipt reflecting my huge purchase This was a shame, as I got home to discover that one my purchases (my $20 Redken conditioner) smelled like moth balls and was clearly expired. Without my receipt in hand, per my conversation with the 1-800 service, I was informed that I would have to go to that specific Duane Reade when the manager was there (which was during standard business hours -- a period during which I work), that the record of my purchases is not on my Duane Reade card, and that is the only way I could return the product without a receipt. So, ultimately, I decided that I was going to lose $20 and ultimately never shop at that Duane Reade again. Good times. read more
