We've taken our 12-year-old Yorkie, Presley, to City Dogs twice now, and unfortunately we won't be returning after what happened at his most recent grooming on October 8. Presley's first haircut here was fine, shorter than expected on the face but it grew out nicely. This 2nd time we asked for the exact same length, but his face was left noticeably longer. 2 weeks later, his bangs are already covering his eyes. That alone would not have warranted a review, but what happened afterward absolutely does. Presley was dropped off healthy and alert. When my husband picked him up, staff said everything "went fine." But once home, Presley was unsteady on his back legs and refused food, treats, and water. We called City Dogs immediately, and the information we received was inconsistent. On the first call, we were told his nails hadn't been trimmed. On the second, we were told they had been as part of the full grooming package (would have been fine, we were just trying to understand what could have caused his sudden discomfort). We were also told, for the first time, that Presley "didn't want to stand" and had been "nipping." That alone raised a brow for us. Presley is 12, and in all our years of taking him to vets and groomers, we have only ever been told he is calm and gentle. Even in moments that make most dogs anxious, like rectal exams, he stays still and sweet. Hearing that he was agitated or refusing to stand instantly told us something must have been off that day. It also should have signaled to City Dogs that something was wrong. If a consistently calm dog suddenly becomes uncooperative, that is a sign of distress and should have prompted a call before continuing the grooming. When we finally reached the grooming manager, (also the groomer), the conversation became incredibly frustrating. From the start he was defensive, speaking over us and focusing more on protecting City Dogs' reputation than on helping us understand what might have happened. To be clear, we weren't being accusatory. We weren't blaming anyone or suggesting he intentionally hurt Presley. We were trying to figure out what could have happened in those few hours that might explain why our otherwise active dog suddenly could not walk properly. Instead, he grew irritated, pointing out that we had spoken to two other staff members, (completely out of our control), and repeatedly insisting he "would never hurt a dog, especially a senior dog." We never suggested he would, we just wanted clarity. He interrupted often, dismissed questions, and even claimed we were the ones being defensive. Any pushback on our part came only from asking him to let us speak. It felt like we were being treated as an inconvenience rather than concerned dog parents. When I asked if it was normal not to call an owner when a dog refuses to stand or shows distress, he said it was not uncommon, especially for "older dogs with arthritis." That didn't make sense as Presley has never been diagnosed with arthritis or shown symptoms. At one point, he also claimed we had accused him of giving Presley medicated food, when all my husband asked was whether Presley might have eaten anything while there. The manager ended the call by telling us to monitor Presley for 24 hours and make sure he was drinking water. When my husband explained that Presley was not eating or drinking at all, the manager finally said that was "concerning" and promised a follow-up call the next day. No one has called. Presley's stiffness lessened after the first day, but he continued walking unbalanced for several days afterward. The entire experience was very disappointing. We weren't looking to blame anyone, we were trying to understand what happened and make sure Presley was okay. Instead, we were met with evasion and indifference. Accidents can happen anywhere, but how a business responds afterward defines its integrity. In our case, City Dogs failed to respond with basic care, accountability, or compassion, and that is why Presley will not be returning. read more

Looking for a last-minute spot to groom (bath and clip nails) for our Yorkie Poo, City Dogs was great! After filling out a profile online, I dropped her off within 30 minutes. My 3 dogs just stayed at City Dogs H Street for a week. My trio tends to stick together annd they also got nail trims while there, but even so, they had a great time. My dogs were still trying to play with the employees when we were leaving and they were so tired when they got home. The H Street team is always so nice to me and my dogs. I have also used them for daycare and boarding over big holidays for the past 3 years - they worked with me last Christmas Eve so I could drop off a bit before their drop off window in order to catch my flight, which was really nice. Highly recommend them for daycare and boarding (and stress free nail trims). read more

TL:DR: Come here to pay $135 for poor grooming, an injured pup, and piss poor customer service. When I arrived to pick up my maltipoo, (several hours after she was supposed to be ready), the groomer wanted to talk to me. I was told that her ear had been scraped because she "had matted fur." In reality, the groomer had accidentally cut the very tip of one of my pup's ear flaps off! My dog bled profusely and still had dried blood all over her. The groomer even had my dog's blood smeared on her cheek! When taking my dog out of the crate she was in, the groomer said "Oh, good, she finally stopped bleeding." UM, WHAT?? What's worse, they waited to call me despite the fact that my dog was bleeding all over the grooming table. I should have been notified immediately! When I got home and checked my pup out fully, I saw that she had not been "scraped" but her skin cut with scissors, and that she had other cuts & scrapes all over her body. Not only that, she still had tangles in her fur and her cut was uneven and choppy. I took her to the vet immediately and she was given antibiotics and a cone. They said they obviously couldn't do stitches because they didn't have the missing flesh. It was the tip of her ear flap, so this made sense. Though, I might have seen it on the grooming table if I'd known to look down, because the groomer hadn't even cleared the fur and utensils from cutting however many dogs. This also made me question their sanitary practices, as I had never before seen a groomer place a dog on a table that had sharp instruments and fur from another dog on it. Next day, my pup was in pain, so I had to take her back the vet for medication. The groomer reached out and said to send an invoice for the vet. She was very apologetic about the whole thing. The store's management? Not so much. Not once did the grooming manager call me to apologize or check in on my pup despite that the groomer had reported the incident when it happened. It was only after I emailed the vet bill two weeks later and asked for a refund that they deigned to call me back some days later and said "hope she's doing ok". That was it. Still no apology for injuring her. I had to call and email them multiple times about a refund of the $135 I paid them to maim my dog. Eventually the manager finally got back to me to say, no refund cause we might have cut her up, but she "still got groomed." A+ customer service. I initially refrained from making a big deal out of everything because the groomer was a nice woman, albeit clearly undertrained. By her response, I thought the store took this incident seriously and would take the necessary steps to make sure her skills are improved before she grooms other dogs unsupervised. Because she was so nice and proactive, I thought this whole thing would be resolved easily. It was not. Once the manager, Joe, finally lowered himself to call me on the phone (3 weeks after the incident and after 3 emails), he turned to lying. According to him, my pup got scraped and cut because she was "just so extremely matted." Nice try, Joe. Turning to the CYA tactic. If that were true, your own policy/waiver says that extremely matted dogs will be shaved. She was not shaved, so she cannot have been severely matted. Either that, or you admittedly did not provide the professional grooming services you promise. It was also just a lie - my pup was not severely matted and did not need to be shaved. He said that my pup's anus was cut because it was just severely matted. Lie again. She had recently had a sanitary trim that was so short, we were calling her "baboon butt". She did not have any mats on or near her anus. He said I admitted my dog was extremely matted and said she still had mats after the service. No, Joe, lie again. I never said my dog was extremely matted. Indeed, the remaining tangles still visible in the photo are minor. And she had others on her body, but they did not go to to the skin and could easily have been cut off. In a proper grooming service, particularly one costing $135, those tangles should have been removed. He also said that no part of her ear was cut off, it was just a regular cut. I asked if he was unable to see the straight edge of her ear where it was supposed to be round. He said "tell your vet to give me a report saying flesh was cut off." I said, "okay, will you give the refund then?" He said "NO." So, even if my dog was maimed by them, they wouldn't care to give a refund. Because they don't care at all. Not about my dog, and they won't care about yours either. But they care a lot about the money (for me, it's the principle). Before I moved to DC, Echo's groomers always commented on how calm she was, how good she was. The different groomer's at the salon would tell me to make sure to book with them, specifically, because they wanted to be the one to service Echo. They always called her a sweetheart. If you care about your sweethearts, don't take them to City Dogs. read more

Mostly good service and pleasant experiences but the few noteworthy unpleasant experiences definitely warrant this rating. I've taken my dog here many times for daycare, and a few times for grooming and boarding. My dog always comes back from daycare smelling like he's just been hanging out in dog piss all day. Makes me question the cleanliness of the place. This isn't our first doggy daycare. I understand there will always be somewhat of a smell but this is unbearable even with windows down. Wish I had known this before purchasing a package. I took my dog in for grooming. Picked him up and he smelled awful. The person at the front desk said that someone handed her my dog and said that he'd been groomed. There's no reason why multiple people at City Dogs handled my dog as a part of a grooming appointment only to return him to me smelling how awful he smelled. Mistakes happen, yes. But kind of an odd oversight. I'm not sure any of pleasant experiences here trump the unpleasant experiences I've had so I won't be returning. read more

Below is the email that I sent to City Dogs after we brought our foster dog in to be groomed. The experience was terrible and I wanted to give City Dogs the opportunity to rectify the situation. They never even responded to my email. I'm writing for some additional clarification regarding our grooming appointment today. We dropped Midnight (Male) off at approximately 10:15am this morning and we were told we would get a call when he was ready to be picked up. We told the gentlemen we were bringing him in for a bath due to his odor and he said ok. At 4:36pm I called, as I hadn't yet heard anything, and when I booked the appointment we were advised we would get a call back within four hours. The gentlemen who answered the phone placed me on hold to go and check on Midnight's status. When he came back on the phone he said he hasn't been done yet but the groomer said he just needs a bath so he (the front desk person) would just go and give Midnight a bath real quick. He advised Midnight would be ready in an hour and asked if that was ok. I said there was no rush but confirmed again that we wanted to make sure that he smelled better and again stated his anal glands may need expressing. At 4:51pm I received a call and was told 'oh she's actually done', I asked if he was referring to Midnight and he said yes. He said they did express HER anal glads and some stuff did come out. They were just trimming HER nails and we could come pick HER up whenever. Keep in mind Midnight is Male. At 5:15pm we arrived to pick up Midnight. We waited as the gentlemen went down to get Midnight. When he came back up with Midnight his butt and tail were very wet. The gentlemen advised that they weren't able to dry him off as he had been sitting all day. Midnight was at your business for approximately 7 hours, during which he was never taken out to the bathroom. He was then returned to us not dry from his $80 grooming appointment. It honestly seems like he was washed and forgotten about, then when I called to check and again mentioned the odor, they went and expressed his anal glads and did a quick rinse of his butt and tail. Although his smell improved once we got him dried off, he just smelled like wet dog. To say we're disappointed is an understatement. read more

I first took my puppy to City Dogs at the recommendation of a neighbor. I had also seen good reviews on Google. It was after I'd dropped him off that I saw their Yelp score and I panicked. But he had a great first day and the staff were lovely so I decided to bring him a few more times without buying a package. Today was his forth day and I decided to spring for the package. Every time I've been there there have been at least two people at the front desk with more people downstairs, in the back, etc. (I am guessing some of the prior negative reviews come from staffing issues, unfortunately.) Today I showed up smack in the middle of the work day unexpectedly and they were still well staffed. They always talk to me about my dog and his interaction with other dogs and each other. They seem like genuine dog people who enjoy what they do. read more

I am so disappointed in this company. The first red flag was the "free bath" offered when you sign up. We purchased a package believing some of the reviews. We asked for the bath 3 times, finally giving up because it didn't seem to be a priority to them. On multiple occasions our dog came home smelling like he had swam in urine. A few weeks ago while waiting for an attendant to some upstairs to man the desk I heard an employee screaming at the dogs. I sent an email to address the issue that was intercepted by the person I question. He tried to use the excuse of "being upset over a broken phone" to explain his behavior. Management reached out later to apologize. I know that you have to be stern with animals from time to time, but behavior like that treads the line of abuse. I wanted to withdraw our dog from the facility, but my other half wanted to give them another chance hoping that things would turn around. The last straw was a few days ago when once again our dog reeked of urine, and his disposition was off. I know daycare can tire out a puppy/ or dog, but this was something different. He was sad and upset about something that happened there. Thankfully a new dog daycare opened close by, and we have had a great experience with them! We have a few credits remaining at City Dogs, but we do not plan on going to them again! read more

Then called again and was told 1 more hour. Was he done well? Nope. They shaved his body, didn't trim his face, charged me $120 and called it a groom. The manager Joel was more concerned about going to a wedding than trying to rectify the situation. Meanwhile, I lost my Saturday night dealing with their delays. I don't ever write reviews, but want to share my experience with City Dogs on H Street. I scheduled a grooming appointment for today and was told to arrive with my dog at 10am. Upon arrival, I was told that my dog was the first to arrive and it shouldn't be much more than 2 hours before we could pick her up. 3 hours passed and I hadn't heard from them, so I called the store 4 times and nobody answered. I walked the 30 minutes back to the store and arrived at 1:30pm. When I arrived, the man working told me that none of the dogs were done, mine included. When I explained what I was told in the morning, he said that the morning staff should not have told me that my dog would be done in ~ 2 hours or that she was the first dog there. He then proceeded to loudly talk over everything I said even as I asked him to please let me finish a sentence. He grew very frustrated and continued to repeat that the morning staff shouldn't have told me those things. I explained that I understood but they DID tell me those things and I needed to know when I could come back to get my dog. Finally, he then told me they hadn't even started with her so I asked him to get my dog so I could take her home with me. When he finally let me speak, I calmly explained my frustrations about the poor communication and the fact that I had to waste time in my work day because nobody answered the phone. The man proceeded to loudly and aggressively tell me I needed to calm down and that he "wouldn't have this in here." City Dogs, if you do not want to have a frustrated customer in your store, then I suggest you communicate properly and treat your customers with respect, instead of talking over them and being aggressive. Additionally, I am absolutely certain that your staff member would not have spoken to a man like he did to me and I suggest you do some training with your team on proper customer service. read more

I want to preface that I've had my dog boarded here twice. First time, she was fine. Not pleased about being away from me, but that's about it. Second time? It was for a shorter period than the first, a couple nights and three days compared to four nights and five days, and somehow she came back dirty and with (most likely) fleas. I can't 100% confirm at this time they were fleas, since I've never dealt with them myself, but when I gave my dog a bath at home there small black bugs falling off her. Not just a few either, at least 10 were in the water by the time I was done. There were black flecks that resembled flea dirt mixed with the dirt on her, which I think is a sign they were indeed fleas, but again I'm not an expert. I am furious that she somehow returned in such bad condition this time, and also baffled. How is this a problem now and not before? I can forgive some dirt alone, dogs will be dogs, my dog isn't a particular exception, but bugs? My dog is only 7ish pounds for reference, and on the nervous side. Note, she is not aggressive, just shy and not very willing with strangers. She is by no means a trouble maker, which I wanted to include for any plausible misconceptions/clarity. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! I am extremely disturbed by the experience I had picking up yesterday. When I walked in, I initially thought no one was there. But then I realized that the woman working at the front desk was sleeping in the corner. When she woke  up, she seemed extremely disoriented. I told her I was there to pick up Brady and she called down THREE times for someone. After she did not go down, and no one came up, I asked her if I should go get Brady downstairs. To my surprise, she said yes. When I walked downstairs to get him, the lights were off, it was very hot, and it smelled SO strongly of urine and poop, I could not believe it. When I went to Brady's room, there were around 15 dogs, but NONE of them were playing. They were just silently lying down, likely due to the terrible environment they were in. The guy downstairs seemed very confused to see me, but he was nice enough. I told him I was really upset and that I just wanted to take my dog and go. He obliged - and he seemed very confused himself as to where everyone was. I then left, and the woman didn't even try to sign me out, which I thought was very strange. My husband and I had asked for Brady to get a bath before being picked up. This definitley did not happen because he smelled so strongly of urine, I gave him a bath myself as soon as we got home. We also asked for him to get a walk that morning, and two on Saturday. I do NOT believe this happened. According to the paperwork, he got a walk at noon on Sunday. But when I picked him up at 3pm, and I walked him home, he pooped twice - so there was NO way he had just had a walk a few hours earlier. When we got home, he was CHUGGING water, because of how hot it was in the basement. Was the water even available for dogs? Was the water bowl filled up? If you love your dog, DO NOT subject him/her to this place. read more

I really, really wanted to like the grooming at City Dogs. I brought my labradoodle here a few weeks ago for a full haircut and grooming, and admittedly he was matted in some spots. They let me know there'd be a small fee for dematting him, which I appreciated. When I went to pick my dog up, he looked great -- exactly like the picture I'd provided (they get a second star for that). But later I noticed some red spots where they'd clipped him pretty close, which within a few days developed into ugly looking scabs on the back of his leg and on his belly. One was almost 3 inches long, which is pretty significant on a 25 lbs. dog. My dog has gotten groomed 4-5 times/year for six years and this has NEVER happened before, even when he's been clipped almost to the skin. The groomer either outright nicked him, used dull clippers, or let the clippers get too hot while grooming. An experienced groomer would have let me know what had happened and advised me on how to treat the razor burn so it didn't get worse. They didn't mention anything. I emailed City Dogs to let them know what happened. No response. My advice: spend a little extra and take your dog elsewhere. read more

Grooming review: horrible. Dropped my dog off between 10:30 and 11:00 as directed. They told me it should take 3-4 hours, at most 5 hours. Dog was not ready for pickup until after 7 hours of being in their care. The dog had had no food, no water, and no bathroom breaks for 7 hours. They called me at 4:00 (5 hours into the appointment) to tell me they were only just starting to cut my dog's hair. When I complained about how long it was taking, they told me it was because the dog had matting around his neck and tail (which is true). What I can't understand is why it took 5 hours before they even started clipping his hair. It was another 2 hours before he was ready. Again, no food, water, or bathroom for my 15 lb dog during this entire experience. The manager was dismissive and attempted to assuage me by removing the $10 dematting charge that I didn't even realize they had charged me. My issue isn't with the dematting fee, but instead with the length of service, the lack of communication, and the complete disregard for my pet's welfare. The cut itself is shoddy - his face is uneven and he has a few spots that are nearly bald from being shaved down so much. Would not recommend. read more

I am a volunteer who frequently fosters dogs. I have used City Dogs to board dogs for the past several years and have always had a great experience. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have taken great care of my dogs and the daily dog report card when you board with them is very awesome. I took my dog in for a trial, and she came home with a skin infection (my vet says likely caused by a flea bite - she is on flea prevention so she didn't have any additional flea issues), and diarrhea - which was eventually found to be from hookworm. Additionally the notes on her stated that she was very friendly and show no fear. My dog is extremely timid so is a little fearful with new humans, but she gets along great with other dogs at day care. It also stated she didn't have much of an interest in toys, but my dog lives to play fetch. While I can put it on myself for not using a daycare that requires an up-to-date fecal sample, hookworm was a pretty rough diagnosis for my pup. Also, based on her reports, I also believe the staff likely paid no attention to my dog during the day. $450 in vet bills later, I will not be bringing my dog back to city dogs. read more

I really, really wanted to like City Dogs on H Street. The staff at the front desk were nice enough and they offer free puppy classes on Sundays, which I thought was great the one time I had my dog attend. However, I dropped my dog off for the first time for day care and boarding. Let me tell you - when we picked him up, he was FILTHY. It looked, felt, and smelled like he was covered in a film of dirt and his paws and tail were matted and brown. The smell was absolutely unbearable too, we had to bathe him immediately upon returning home. I don't know if it's just in my head too, but he seemed more timid and standoffish than normal. We also left them with food for my dog and when he got home he was ravenous when he ate and drank... I'm not so sure they fed him at all. All this in just one 24-hour period. Very disappointed in this experience and sadly I won't be bringing him back, which is a shame because the location is ideal. Paid $97 for a single day of daycare and one overnight into a Sunday because they automatically charge for the full day if you pick up your dog at 12pm when they first open. read more

We've had nothing but great experiences with City Dogs and their owner and staff are super friendly and responsive. I never write reviews, but this was so warranted. City Dogs H Street is THE absolute worst dog boarding place I've ever experienced in my entire life (and I'm not even being the least bit dramatic). This review doesn't even deserve the one star, if I'm being completely frank. There are honestly not enough words to describe how frustrating this experience was. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with the nastiest attitude at 9 a.m. When I tried to explain that my dog is a little anxious around new people, I was once again met with the distasteful attitude of the female front desk worker. My dog is a rescue who was abused before she got to me, so OF COURSE she's going to be nervous around new people. I was so irritated when I left the store, and then I was called not even 10 minutes after I left to come back and get my dog due to her anxiety. I've moved around a lot, so I have used numerous boarding places that were FAR more professional and understanding. I will be sure to let anyone know to PLEASE stay clear of City Dogs H Street if you have any sense or even care about the well-being of your pet in the slightest. Again, let me reinforce that this was THE WORST boarding place I have ever experienced in my entire life, and I am so vexed that I even wasted my time with this horrendous "dog day care facility." read more

I brought my dog in for a first time grooming appointment with CD yesterday and I'm disappointed with the result. My dog's haircut is uneven all over and in some locations shaved down to the skin, which is not what I asked for. Her tear stains were not all the way removed and she doesn't look as clean as she has before with other groomers. The staff was nice, but when they went down to the basement to get my dog, I could hear them screaming at the other dogs to "shut up." Overall disappointing service for the price and I regret paying for the service before I saw her. read more

I brought my dog here to get his nails trimmed and his anal glands expressed as he wasn't in need of grooming just yet and I give him baths at home. I liked initially that you could opt for an a la carte service. I brought my 10 lb Chihuahua in at approximately 10:50 and they brought him upstairs. I was aware that the email said you needed to give them around four hours for grooming so I expected a call around 2 or 2:30, especially given the fact that he was not getting a full grooming. Around 5 pm, I was finally texted to come pick him up. I arrive and the person at the front desk informed me that they weren't able to do the service because my dog was extremely frightened and hiding in a corner and would not let them try to trim his nails. I was advised they tried to stop and do it again later but to no avail. Supposedly they were able to do the expression which shocks me given that he was so terrified and would not let them trim his nails. My dog is a rescue and came from a bad hoarding situation so he tends to be a little wary of new people and situations. He needs to be shown love and can easily be won over with treats. What bothers me is my dog was at this facility for 7 hours, and according to them he was terrified. Why I was not called and instead my poor scared dog was there for 7 hours is concerning to me. While I was waiting for someone to bring him down, I heard a man in the back loudly yelling aggressively at barking dogs to be quiet multiple times. I get it, barking dogs are bothersome and you want to quiet them down, but the tone in which this person was yelling was not the tone of someone I'd want around my dog. Not only that but when I took him out of the building, I noticed he had what looked like urine on his paw and he did not smell good. He smelled terrible and he went in smelling fine. Further it almost smelled like he was sprayed with something to mask the smell. I gave him a bath when we got home. I definitely would not bring my dog back here. read more

We took our puppy to City Dogs to acclimate him socializing with other dogs. The problem we had isn't with the attitudes of the staff. It's with the lack of communication. There were times when we asked to give him a bath, and by the time we went to pick him up, they did not. So we either had to take him home without one or wait until he was given one. Another time, a small piece of his ear was bitten off and no one could tell us what dog caused this. Not that we were trying to have the other dog kicked out, but just so we can make sure they were separated moving forward. And lastly, we were recently called while our dog was being boarded. They said he was not eating, not interacting with other dogs and overall sad. We made arrangements for a family member to come get him. When that family member did, they were told it was a virus going around at that location and they're glad we came and got him. This left us confused because no one told us about this -- and he had began coughing after we dropped him off for daycare even before being boarded. When we called to speak to management, we were told there were viruses spreading in SW DC and other parts of the city, but couldn't address why one employee told us nothing of a virus and another did. Now our dog is coughing up phlegm and has pneumonia. Dogs, like humans, get sick. We understand that. But dogs can't communicate like humans, so we'd hope the company we entrust to take care of them does. And we feel on multiple occasions there were egregious miscarriages of communication. The owner is dismissive and takes no accountability. Hence why we will not be sending our dog back here. (Also, their open space is quite concerning. There are no windows downstairs, and an average size open space for the dogs to move around. It's easy to see how this could impact a dog's psyche.) read more

Let me start by saying my dog's hair cut was generally fine, it's the rest of the experience I'm reviewing. I made an appointment and was told the groomer would call me to discuss specifics and confirm the appointment. I never received a call, so I called to confirm the appointment myself the day of and proceeded to bring the dog in for his appointment. When I arrived the groomer told me there were several dogs ahead of mine and it would be "no more than four hours" but I would receive call when the dog was ready to be picked up. After five hours of waiting for a call, I followed up myself and was told "the groomer left for the day, but your dog's been done". The person I spoke to on the phone couldn't tell me how long the dog had been ready or why I didn't receive a phone call. It's unacceptable for a groomer to leave for the day without closing out his ongoing appointments. Additionally, upon arriving to pick up my dog, I was told I had to pay for grooming plus a matting upcharge before I could see the dog. I should not have been charged $15 dollars extra, especially without prior notification. $90 dollars is a lot of money to spend on dog grooming, how can this be the level of service provided by their staff? I submitted this complaint to City Dogs and did not receive a response. Again, just an unacceptable level of customer service. Would not recommend. read more

We love City Dogs! When we moved to Capitol Hill we were worried about finding a new daycare spot for our tiny Sheltie. But she LOVES City Dogs and all the people there! They know her by name (and even give her cute nicknames), and I love seeing the report cards at the end of the day when I pick up my tired, happy pup. I always know she's in good hands with people that truly love dogs. Definitely recommend! As for grooming, we haven't needed to use their services too much, but there have been a few times when she's desperately needed a bath and they do a great job! They even called me once when the pup had lots of extra fur to ask if I'd like to add on the furminator de-shedding service. Love them! read more

I took my dog to get groomed today and my dog was placed in the daycare where she was attacked without supervision by the employees. She was taken to the vet due to deep scars all over her body and her eye. It had to be a large dog that attacked her neck, which left severe scars, caused her to limp, and caused traumatic damaging. City dogs do not care about the safety of the dogs, they leave them unattended in the daycare. I do not recommend taking your dog to City Dogs on H St NE, Washington DC. read more

Six months later and we could not be happier (or have been luckier) to have found City Dogs. Our pup used to put up a bit of a fight on his way to daycare in NYC, but passersby will now see him dragging us across H Street so that he can start his day playing with friends and cuddling with the City Dogs staff. And even when we're just out for walks, if he spots a City Dogs staff member, he will run up and gleefully demand cuddles. The staff is always friendly and helpful--both Stephanie and Josh have gone above and beyond to make sure our little guy is well taken care of and to accommodate our questions and requests.
