What a way to start 2025!! Finally found the BEST donuts in Lubbock. What comes to mind when I replay in my mind my thoughts about trying their donuts and kolaches for the first time.......Huge, pillowy, fluffy, flavorful, tasty, perfect and heaven. My go to donut is often hard to find, it is a chocolate frosted yeast donut with fresh coconut. City Donut is so accommodating, they MADE me one on the spot. To make the experience even better, they placed it in a fold over container to ensure that the masterpiece made it come without the coconut falling off. The Long John was the biggest I have ever seen. It was so big I had to save 1/2 of it for the next morning. Clerk at the nearby seven eleven pointed me here. On a hunt for donuts and city donuts was well worth the trek. Personally I love "dives" and "sketchy" places. Some of my favorite food is from trucks or hidden back alley businesses. This establishment is a little run down but don't let that deter you. Dedicated parking lot but I doubt it's ever been full. Menu board is dated. Fried dough covered in sugar people! A guilty pleasure for some, this isn't a black tie culinary experience. Settled for a generic glazed and one old fashioned. The old fashioned was a tad sweet for my taste. Not overly glazed but I guess sugar in the batter. Normally isn't slightly sweet but not a mouthful of sugar. The basic glazed though was one of the best donuts i've ever had. Chewy but not in a hard bread sense. The donut and glaze melted in my mouth immediately. Nice and crisp instead of being entirely saturated with processed sugar. Why aren't all donuts like this?! A nice man greeted me upon entry. Was patient while I made my selections. Greeted the gentleman that came in at the end of my transaction. Pleasant and polite, but a few other reviews did mention a wait and poor customer service. Didn't get any coffee or drinks. Stopping by for two donuts or a half dozen yes. Bring some to work and get a few extra to eat on the car ride to work. Will certainly be stopping by again next visit to town. read more

I'm surprised that this run down shack is still in business. The donuts are average donuts at best. I only know this because a friend brought me donuts from this place before. When I went in and tried to order for myself, I waited at the counter for about 15 minutes while some old Asian lady completely ignored the fact I was even there. I don't know if it was because I was too fat, too black, or whatever, but refusing to acknowledge a customer for 15 minutes is completely unacceptable. She could have said "hi" or "be with you in a few minutes" or anything. But she said absolutely nothing. I just walked out of that shit hole. I have to admit, I did not have very high standards for this place when I decided to stop in for some kolaches and donuts. As mentioned by other reviews, the looks of this establishment is very shady. The outside looks like a tiny beat down house, and the inside is very dim with four tables. However, the lady that owns the shop is very friendly and remembers you if you stop in regularly! The kolaches are delicious! They come in two sizes, large and small. I usually get a large and a small one to fill me up. You have a choice between sausage and cheese kolaches or sausage, cheese, and jalapeño kolaches. As for the donuts, there is a larger selection. The donuts were a tad bit too sweet for me, but very tasty nonetheless. I have stopped into this donut shop the past few weekends and I will definitely be returning! read more
