I was skeptical to do an Escape Room but I was pleasantly surprised at the fun I had. It was a group of 6 of us. I had concerns about having to bring my 3 year old but I was happy to confirm that I didn't have to pay for her and she was able to sit in the corner of the room with her iPad. It was an English themed room and it was very engaging with unexpected turns. I'm not great at these but it is such a great option for team building or bonding. They will take a photo for you with their camera at the end and post it to their facebook page for you to obtain. read more

Wow! So much better than the escape room I went to for the first time in Downtown Tampa. The owner/manager was a delight. He greeted us and gave us a full enthusiastic walk-through of everything we could expect. He definitely is passionate about his business and the fun behind escape rooms- so much so that I want to go back and try one of the many other rooms they have available. Anyways, this was a team building trip where we lost a lot of participants due to the needs of the business so we only ended up with three people for the room. He didn't give us any trouble about the change of plans and he didn't even mind us being late. We selected the Medieval Room based on the description of it and it was fantastic! Dark and atmospheric with great decorations. The puzzles were challenging without being impossible and were very hands-on. We received about a handful of clues and we actually escaped with 5 minutes to spare! The satisfaction of escaping successfully cannot be beat! There was plenty of parking but for me, the location was kind of hard to find. I would suggest a more prominent sign since there are multiple strip malls and office complexes that I almost turned into the wrong one but for the things that really matter, they nailed it. read more

Our family enjoyed this family outing challenge! With Gasparilla coming up in Tampa, we chose the pirate theme. Make reservations in advance and the room will be ready at your arrival. We had such a great time. It was a challenge indeed, but a voice would come over the intercom (if we agreed) and give us hints if they noticed us chasing our tails and making little progress. The challenge is to solve the mysteries and beat times set by others who have taken the challenge and escape. Working together is key! (Pun intended). I'd never participated in an escape room before and tonight was the night. My fun workmates had set this up and we had a dozen engineers including PhD's. Our practical knowledge is perhaps limited but we had a team and we were here to experience it!. No escape room can stop us?! We played the dreaded Zombie Room. I won't provide any spoilers but I will say it was challenging, adrenaline-inducing, brain-twisting, hair-raising, and hilarious! We finished in record time and escaped with most of our lives. Horrible experience. To begin with we waited outside due to the door being locked. When we called we get their recording. Then a person from a business next door called them and they said they would be opening the door and nothing. We had to go to an adjoining door to continuously knock before they decided to come open the door. It was not a good start. This was probably the 6th or so escape room and the experience was not good. It was a lousy room and we ended up walking out. So think twice about this escape room. read more

Hubby and I needed to kill an afternoon after gorging on Thanksgiving leftovers, so we booked an Escape Room here. The folks who put the room we did together (London) very obviously put a ton of thought, skill, and ingenuity into it. We stumbled a little along the way but managed to finish the room with just over 4 minutes to spare. I personally really appreciated that they offered hints along the way when they observed us getting stuck. My bullheadedness tends to prevent me from asking for help at other escape rooms and then I just end up getting frustrated, or worse, failing. The hints they gave were helpful but still made us think- they didn't just hand us answers wholesale. Adrianna got us all set up and was great. Walking through the room afterward and talking with her about what had tripped us up was a nice perk, too. I'm sad to say we probably won't be back anytime soon, but not for lack of wanting. We're not Florida natives, and it'll probably be a quite a while before we get back, but whenever we're in Tampa again, we will DEFINITELY stop by for another escape room. In summation: is this place worth it? Absolutely. Do yourself a favor and book with them ASAP. read more

What a great time! We played the Christmas room with our three young teens and it was such a great holiday event! The room was really well done and we felt it had just the right amount of difficulty. The decorations felt like we were transported to a Christmas village and we even got snowed on! I hope they do more seasonal rooms in the future. We also did the Russian Spy room and it was fantastic. There was one element that was sooo good, my kids are still talking about it two days later. Really, really outstanding. Finally, our game master, Jake, was fantastic. You can tell he's passionate about his work and creating an enjoyable experience for everyone. He felt when we were getting frustrated and nudged us in the right direction but he never made it too easy. He even gave his hints as though he was a character in the setting so the illusion of being in the storyline wasn't broken. We were really impressed. read more

Imagine being locked in a room for an hour with your girlfriend's family. Sounds like a nightmare, right? Wrong! We had a blast trying to escape the escape room. The five of us found clues and solved puzzles, while working together as a team. Basically, this is a mega-team building exercise. And surprisingly, we didn't end up killing each other. I'm not going to reveal any hints or tips in this review, because that'll defeat the entire purpose of their concept. All I'll say is, every family or friend group should give this place a go'round. As far as the space itself, it's not much to look at. We did use a groupon for the activity. Prices can be steep if you're on a budget, so make sure to utilize the offer. Wow... unbelievable how money can truly change a person's character. Although, I am not aware of the type of person the owner, Kristi, was prior to becoming owner of "Can You Escape" on Memorial Hwy in Tampa. I would rate this review ZERO stars if I could. My husband and I were planning to visit "Can You Escape" on Memorial as a party of 6 people, all couples. We were referred by my sister who previously attended to the Clearwater location. Upon her visit, she was given a complimentary card for the free admission of one person, in a group of 3 or more people. My husband attempted to book a "Midieval" room for this upcoming Saturday, March 26, using the promo code provided on the card. The promo code was not working properly online. My husband phoned the company trying to troubleshoot. We then were informed that the promo code ONLY applied to the "Office" rooms. On the complimentary admission card, there was no specification that the promo code only corresponded to the "Office" rooms. In fact, the exact statement on card is as follows "One Team. One Adventure. One Hour". I have even included a picture of the card (front and back- blacking out promo code) in this review. Not by any means, is there clarification that the promo only applied to the "Office" rooms. We were instructed to contact the owner, Kristi, and address the issue with her. We did just that and awaited a returned phone call. Surely, she did respond and was relentless in her stance continuously reiterating that those cards were produced prior to the existence of other "non-office" rooms and that it was unfortunate that we misunderstood the coverage of the free admission. Despite the fact that the admission card revealed no such information. She completely evaded fault and maintained her position. Kristi was arrogant, impolite and disrespectful. She continuously provoked my husband and even insulted his intelligence by blatantly asserting that my husband was guilty of several "fallacies". Kristi persisted in her condescending tone and was unwilling to negotiate. She even asked my husband "So you and your party of 6 would not come over $28?!" After my husband countered and explained that the principle still stands that considering the error was on behalf of the company, it was their responsibility to honor the complimentary admission. She then responded saying "I asked a simple question". Implying that my husband's lengthy response was both unnecessary and unappreciated. Kristi even laughed in his face taunting him with a comment along the lines of "Wow you are really working hard for this $28, aren't you?!" My husband and I own a small family business and we are well aware of the severity of false advertisement, and how that could sabotage the publics' and consumers' trust in and loyalty to a company. Not to mention how important customer satisfaction is in order to assure customer retention. Not only will we NEVER make any contribution to this company, but we will also steer anyone whom we know away from supporting this location or any location owned by Kristi and/or her associates. We are terribly disappointed in the quality of person that Kristi is and how arrogantly and rudely she presents herself. We have never encountered such a negative and degrading customer experience. We will proceed to also file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Although I doubt that will spark a reaction from Kristi, seeing as she is entirely motivated by greed and pretension. Sadly, the point still remains, that the issue was not the $28, but rather the lack of customer appreciation and false advertisement. It's a shame. Truly a shame. read more

Thanks to a groupon offer, my new team decided to do some Can You Escape style team building. Only two of us had previously participated in an "escape room" before. The concept of an "escape room" is pretty simple. Your team needs to solve a number of different puzzles, (i.e. logical, physical, mathematical) that will help you open a door and escape. When you sign up for a Can You Escape event, you are given the choice of easy, medium and hard. The rooms, as far as I can tell, are set up the same for all three levels, the difference in levels just signifies when you start receiving clues (which are buzzed in over a television monitor that is set up in the room). My group selected the medium level which meant we worked for about fifteen minutes before clues started coming from the monitor. I liked that the clues are sent over a monitor in written form versus shared using audio. That way you have the option of whether you want to use it or not and you also have the option of returning to it and rereading if necessary. The set up of the Can You Escape room we were in was an office. I was surprised when I first entered that it seemed pretty barren. Only after a closer inspection did I start seeing that there was more to the room than I originally thought. There are at least two other rooms set up at Can You Escape. I'm not sure if the other rooms are similar to the one we were in or if each one is different. That's something I forgot to inquire about. Can You Escape does not allow phones or cameras inside the rooms. They have free lockers with keys right by the entrance. You put your stuff in the locker, lock it and take the key with you. That's nice because you aren't depending on another person to make sure your stuff is safe. At the end of your experience, Can You Escape will take your picture and post it on their social media pages. They have a graffiti wall and log as well so that you can brag about how quickly (or slowly) you escaped (or didn't escape). Overall, I thought Can You Escape was a unique, fun, nerve racking way to do something collaborative with others. I would recommend doing it with a large group of people you know, it's so much better that way. I thought the price, with the Groupon, was fair. Paying full price I think would be a bit too expensive for the experience. I saw lots of business card coupons lying around the Can You Escape lobby so they definitely seem to be doing a good job of getting people in the door by offering discounts. read more

Tons of fun, I would highly recommend it. The staffers here are very nice. We did not remember to tell our perpetually late friend to show up 15 minutes earlier than we needed to leave. Since we were all carpooling, that made us all show up at 7 p.m. (even though we got an email saying to show up at 6:45 p.m.). Nobody made us feel bad about anything and they even apologized about having to speed through the instructions. It was completely our fault that they had to speed through! The staff is fantastic. We decided to choose beginner, since none of us had ever done this before. I was a little skeptical, because the five of us are all young professionals with solid degrees. How hard could it be? Well, we made it out with 2 minutes to spare. And we definitely needed the clues they flashed on the tv screen. The puzzles were tough without being overly difficult. It was the perfect level difficulty. That hour passed by in a flash. Like others have said, it may look sketchy from the outside, but everything inside is perfectly clean and respectable. As I said at the beginning, if you have a chance to do this, you definitely should! We even want to come back now when they add new rooms. read more

This was the first time I had been to an escape room so I didn't know what to expects. I did the medieval one and it was a lot of fun. Expect there to be math involved if you do this one. We were assisted by JJ, who asks you if you want know help, to call out for help, or for him to keep you on track by offering help when he felt it was needed. We chose the last option, and it was a great balance of us figuring it out and him knowing how to subtly guide us when we spent too much time on something we just were not getting. We had a great time! We ran into a little issue at first though. We made the reservation early in the day for the 6 of us, and when we got there, we found out Jake (who booked our reservation) combined us into The Office room with another group of 6! The reason we kept our group to a smaller number is because any more people than that can make the experience less fun because you don't have a chance to try and figure out as many clues. Also, the maximum number of people in a room is 10, so this was not acceptable. I was bothered because Jake did not notify us we were going to be combined with another group, and when we got there we were told we had no other choice. Turns out, Jake left for the day and Ian was going to supervise our group. Ian was awesome! I explained that we all came across town to come to this escape room because it had such great reviews, and we were not able to come back tomorrow, but we did not want to be in such a big group with people we did not know. Ian called his supervisor, and they were able to put us in another room. Because of Ian's willingness to accomodate our requests, we had an incredible time! The London room is AMAZING, and Ian gave us just the right amount of clues. 4 of the 6 of us were going to an escape room for the first time, and now they are hooked because we got the chance to really enjoy the room with our own group. Again, I want to thank Ian for fixing the mistake, and he was so nice and personable. We will definitely be coming back here soon to try the Medieval room! read more

One of the guys that was added to our group was a know it all who had done a room b4 and it was hard for me to enjoy myself. 2.Some pople in the group that found clues moved on to figure out the next clue without communicating what they found. Maybe that was a team strategy thing.. but again going into the room with people you dont know can cause this... 3. The customer service is amazing, and Jake and Taya do a fantastic job at being energetic and getting you excited about your escape room experience. This is an awesome place for date nights, or just a fun evening with the family. We were a party of 4. My fiance and I have done an escape room once before, but her two younger brothers who joined us had not. Saturday was her youngest brother's birthday and he mentioned wanting to do an escape room. I called on a Saturday at 2pm and they were able to book us for 3pm the same day in the Medieval room! First, wow! the room was incredibly well thought out, themed, and fun. This was 10x more impressive and enjoyable than the first escape room I had done. The shopping plaza this place is in is quite sketchy though. We were not sure at all if the business was going to be professional, but fortunately once you get upstairs, the offices and waiting room are clean and well decorated and your worries will vanish. I can only speak for the Medieval room, but Can You Escape was professional, challenging, and a friendly place to spend an afternoon. read more

This was my 1st escape room, so i have nothing to compare to. Nick was great at staying in character and telling us about rules, etc. We did the Zombie room. We walked in and found a bunch of stuff to look at, look through, examine, etc Jake was our zombie. Extremely active, had quite a few good jokes and even jokingly made fun of us when we did goofy stuff. Running around the room to not be touched by the Zombie made some of the simplest take a bit more difficult. I would recommend these guys. We had a bunch of fun. read more

If you've never done something like this before and are doubtful about picking the beginner level because you think it might be too easy, rest assured it won't be. We found it to be challenging but doable and got out with about 8 minutes to spare. I can't say much without giving anything away, but it was a super fun and unique experience, made possible by professional and welcoming staff. Our host Chris was very friendly and helpful, and the game master Nick served up clues just when we needed them without going overboard or giving clues prematurely. While we went in this time with a groupon, I wouldn't hesitate to pay the full price in the future because you can see a lot of time and effort went into planning and setting up the experience, and it seems like a good bit of cleanup is required after you escape. Overall I highly recommend this if you're looking for a unique and challenging group activity. read more
