I purchased a bedroom set, a mattress, a sofa, a recliner, and a futon there, spending more than $10,000. The sofa came with three powered recliners. One of them broke about two months after it was delivered, and replacement parts had to be ordered from CHINA. The estimated time for the parts is 12 WEEKS. In addition, the sofa has already started piling. We were told there is no fabric warranty for the sofa. And you cannot return any item once it's been delivered. I purchased from City for years, but the quality of the furniture they sell now has taken a nose dive. read more

I bought the buffet on 3/20. It was in stock at that time. The salesperson set the delivery for 4/16. I just bought a home in The Villages. I checked on the order last week and now the item is out of stock. When I spoke with many of your sales reps I was told there were two floor models available They were going to take pictures of the models and email them to me and then figure out a way to get the buffet to my home inThe Villages I really did not need the pictures. I just needed the buffet. This morning I received a phone call and was told both locations had sold the floor models and they could not get it for me. Mind you both of the models are still at the store and not picked up by the customers. I was also told the item was going to be discontinued, so they took it from the warehouse and put it on the floor at the store for close-out. It is apparent the warehouse did not review the open order list and make sure the unit was not already sold and waiting for delivery. Since I paid for the product and it was available yesterday, it should have been tagged as sold and not left on the floor. It should not have been sold at the floor level. I have spent 4 days on this issue and that left plenty of time for the floor models to be allocated to an open order that is in question. Think twice before you order anything from them. Especially if it is a piece of furniture you need to match a set. read more

I ordered a king size bedroom suite and paid to have it delivered and set up. They brought it as promised but brought a full size footboard. Ok honest mistake. Next day brings footboard. Bought mattress salesperson says no foundation necessary. Wrong won't work without foundation. Go back to store to buy 2 twin xl foundations. Paid for delivery and set up again. Come with foundation only brings me one. Call customer service they say salesman only ordered one. So I order another one. They deliver the other half the next day but tell me they could deliver but would have to pay yet again for them to set it up. Never again! We ordered furniture in October for delivery in January as we were not moving down to the villages until January. We had to start paying for out order even though we never received the furniture as we didn't live in Florida yet. Rooms to Go didn't make us pay until we actually received the furniture. Once we moved down, our delivery was scheduled for 1/16. Two days before our delivery, they called to inform us that two of our living room chairs were out of stock. We ended up cancelling the living room chairs and proceeded with the rest of the order (sectional and mattress). They called to inform us that our furniture would be delivered on 1/16. On 1/16 we waited all day and no one came. When we called City Furniture, they told us that the whole order was accidentally cancelled when we cancelled the chairs and that they will not be delivering our sectional or mattress but that we can pick another day for delivery. We ended up cancelling the whole order and buying everything from Rooms to Go. You tell us two days before the delivery that items are out of stock, we are paying for months for furniture we didn't have yet, and then you cancel our entire order accidentally? City furniture is a big disappointment. They are pretty proud of their furniture if you know what I mean. Sales people weren't friendly compared to other furniture stores in the area. Horrible service. Ordered $6000 worth of furniture a month ago. Scheduled delivery for day before move in. Living room and master bedroom. Living room came ok Master bedroom was a mix up. Delayed delivery for days. Wrong color etc. after a few days they show up with the master bedroom furniture and say, " they called you and told you one of the bureaus was on back order. We have your foot boards but they don't make the headboard anymore ". What??? So you deliver the foot board but not the headboard. Refused delivery. Now have to wait to get my money back. We just purchased a sectional for our lanai. Our furniture is well made, very comfortable and sturdy. We worked with Hank and found him well informed, able to answer all our questions, and diligent. He went out of his way to meet all of our needs. We received our furniture on time, as predicted, and it arrived without any flaws. The two young men who put it together did a great job. The salesperson was fine, the selection good, the quality was good, at that price.. I have seen better quality, at a higher price. We purchased an Electric recliner in leather. Top of the line, 700.00 when all said. Well, we did not purchase the extended warranty, after all it had a 1 year Mfg warranty, we don't have children abusing the furniture. After 6 months The power would go on and off at random. It took me 2 full days to try To speak to a person, then the customer care tried to get me to pay a 50.00 traveling fee fo the repair to come. I argued, they removed the charge For only 1 time..in future in the first year it will cost me 50.00. After 1 year More. I set up an appointment with the repair, at 12, I texted the repair person, he said he would be 1 hr late, I had to reschedule, as I had an appointment myself and couldn't wait. He claimed with all the twists in the villages he couldn't call to tell me he would be 1 hr late. At this point it is too be seen what happens. City Furniture is good as long As nothing goes wrong or is damaged. If you don't purchase the extra warranty Your screwed. Ordered furniture on January 1. My table and chairs delivered within two weeks. Had a slight paint touchup needed, followed up great job. Also, ordered a chair and ottoman. Both were delayed, no follow up or communication with customer service. Ottoman can on the second scheduled delivery date. Chair was rescheduled three times, on the third time received confirmation time for delivery. However less than an hour before the window of delivery ended, called and said no chair available. (when delivery took place for ottoman, the gentlemand told me my chair was broken but the it would be there in a few days.) No chair, rescheduled for May, looked yesterday another delay until end of June (6 months later). Today I cancelled the chair purchase, manager didnt seem to care... Hopefully things get better for City Furniture pandemic is only an excuse so long for poor service. read more

Purchased 2 bar stools along with a 3 year home service on April 13, 2021. When I started to put them together (the legs to the chairs) I began to realize how cheap the quality of the stools were. The legs were made of some sort of fiber wood not real wood so of course the screws would not/could not be tightened all the way and would not hold if tightened. They are so wobbly that I'm afraid to use them. They are DANGEROUS since the legs could break at any minute and you will fall 30 inches to the floor. I have bought two other large sets of furniture in the past two years with no complaints. Since they will not take them back or exchange them or give a store credit I feel I have wasted my money on these stools and will not buy from the company again. read more

While the sales people are quite helpful, getting delivery on the items ordered and paid for is a COMPLETELY different story. Dining table and chairs online in October, chairs delivered on schedule but delivery for the table has been rescheduled three times and still awaiting delivery. Delivery for a dresser ordered in the store (early November) has just been rescheduled a second time with delivery not for at least another month. This horrible delivery situation is for items that were listed as IN STOCK when the items were ordered and delivery dates has been based on CF delivery schedule. read more

I am rejecting this response from City to the BBB because: Hilarious!  The 'refund' was for the furniture returned because I never received all the pieces to the sectional. Since they could not locate the missing pieces, they 'allowed' me to return the parts that were delivered. (side note: I had to visit my local hardware store to purchase hardware that was missing from the individual pieces of the sectional that were delivered and assemble it myself.)  It was not an actual refund, it was a credit to purchase different furniture from them.  The new choice was not patio furniture because they could not guarantee all the pieces would be readily available, so I had to make a selection from indoor furniture. That was not the look I was going for. This furniture was considerably more money but I had to use the credit (not refund) with their store.  My complaint is this: They forced me to pay another $299.99 in home service plus $179.99 premium delivery (which was free to other customers through a promotion their were running) in order to process any transaction at all. (total $479.98).  They are telling me that is a fair charge because they did deliver the new furniture. They feel entitled to prorate fees because I did have possession of the incomplete sectional for 8 months! By this point, I was on a first name basis with the wonderful delivery people because they had been to my house no less than 15 times delivering a whole house full of furniture 1 or 2 pieces at a time.  I had already paid those fees (delivery and in home) on the first sectional that was incomplete due to the salesperson's (Leslie) incompetence and had to be returned.  There are so many more disturbing side stories to this mess that it would make your head spin. Waited on delivery that was confirmed and scheduled. It was a no show. When I called to see where it was I was told that they thought the purchase was fraudulent so they canceled the order. Didn't bother calling me, just canceled it. This messed up a deadline driven project for me and I will never EVER give them any business. They weren't even apologetic and when I asked if they could please deliver immediately I was told no. They'd put me on the schedule for next week though. When we confronted them about exchanging for an upgrade of more than $1,000, we're told that they could not help us. Stopped in to visit City Furniture for the first time since it opened. We've been in the market for some high-end bar stools, but have been unsuccessful with our efforts in this market. Nothing really popped out at us at the usual furniture stores. As this location was taken over by City Furniture, a store we were unfamiliar with, we didn't know what to expect. We were delighted as soon as we entered the building. Finally, a store with some darker woods and leathers. No more pink flamingos, and enough Tommy Bahama colors. As we were looking around, a set if bar stools caught our attention and appeared to be exactly what we were looking for - dark wood and dark leather with nail hammer heads. We bought them, they were delivered on the day we requested, and so far everything is good. I almost forgot the best part. Our favorite person from the old store, Kelly, is now working at City Furniture. I think she was just as surprised to see us we were to see her. She really knows how to take care of her customers. My City Furniture Experience Yesterday I shopped for an entertainment center at both City Furniture & Babette's - at City Furniture, the floor sample had 4 of the 6 drawers that didn't glide easily - I had to tug to open the 4 drawers. When I questioned the sales person - she immediately suggested that I purchase a home warranty - she told me my only other option - once the item was delivered to return it for a 15% restocking fee. I questioned her further as I didn't think that could possibly be my only options - she restated the two options and then suggested that I should probably "shop elsewhere) !!! I talked with Babette's 1st today to make sure that their policy is not the same as City Furniture....thankfully it isn't- As the sales person told me....we want to make sure our customers are happy as we know they will come back and will refer their friends (so surprising that City Furniture doesn't know that!) IN any case, the policy at Babette's is that their furniture is under warranty for 3 years and they would send a service person out to take care of a simple drawer glide issue immediately. The only time they charge a restocking fee is if the purchaser decided once the item was in the home that he/she didn't like it. I then called customer service for City Furniture at their main headquarters in South Florida. The person I spoke with was surprised by the information I was given yesterday and confirmed for me the store policy - I would have 3 days once the item was delivered to call to get the drawer glides fixed. I would not have to pre-purchase a warranty. Once the 3 days were over, I would be out of luck - but...that policy makes more sense than the information that I was given last night. Obviously, I will NEVER purchase from City Furniture - but...as a result of my phone call, I was assured that someone from headquarters would contact the Spanish Springs store and review the policy with them. As is my policy - I never am upset when I need to get something like this taken care of - the City Furniture rep wasn't threatened and therefore listened carefully to me - asked clarification questions and made appropriate decisions. It would have been more cathartic to scream & bluster, but..I've found that in the long & short run - being nice pays off! read more

It seems that they take your money and then use it to go buy the furniture. 6 weeks ago we purchased furnishings for a 3 bedroom house. We were promised delivery of everything within 3 days. So far, we have had a total of 5 piecemeal deliveries and we still don't have everything. This translates into a LOT of wasted hours waiting. The most recent delivery was at 8:30 AT NIGHT. If your time is valuable, I recommend shopping elsewhere. read more

We just had a very disturbing experience with City Furniture. We were out of the country for two weeks and when we returned, every cushion of our Lani furniture had spots we guessed to be mold. We have extended clean or replace coverage with City Furniture. We called in a claim and were told that the warranty does not cover mold. We said that we were just guessing it was mold and did not now the source of the stains. We requested that they send someone out to determine the nature of the stain. They refused all coverage. We suggested that perhaps it was a bad run of fabric from the manufacturer. We were told that it should have been reported with 30 days of delivery. We took delivery in February and were therefore, again, denied even a service call for inspection. We spent about $25K with City Furniture. I will not spend a dime more. Back in September I bought a couch and a bed. I also was talked into buying the protection plan for both pieces which I thought was an amazing idea Bc I have pets. The sales associate TOLD my mother and I that the protection plan covers pet accidents, stains, rips tears everything. Well my pet had an accident and I called the customer care to have someone come out and clean it as the sales associate told me they would. They informed me that it doesn't cover anything with the bed, only if the bed collapses. They will tell you ANYTHING to sell you a piece of furniture. read more

After posting on Yelp I was contacted by City Furniture who offered to return my wasted $50 and send other technicians at no cost to me. The two gentlemen they sent were wonderful. They spent a lot of time working on my chairs but bottom line, these particular chairs are what they are. They did tighten loose bolts and my headrest feels more comfortable but I still struggle to keep my chair reclined. No offer from City Furniture to exchange for an motorized one but I did receive my $50 check. I did not change my rating because of what it took to get decent service and the attitude of the original service people. read more

I chose City Furniture mostly because of the convenience of being located close to me.... they have very nice furniture..... and it stops there.... Purchased a bedroom set and a kitchen table... as well as a mattress for my bed..... long story short.. They delivered the wrong mattress not once but twice... and it's been a month and a half or more and I still have the wrong mattress sitting in my home.... ABSOLUTELY NO PRIORITY to fix the issue and I had to literally argue with them to facilitate an exchange..... they just called and informed me that NOW the mattress is on back order and won't even be available for delivery til the 28th of December... Which I only get two days off a week and do not even know my schedule that far ahead.... you would think a mistake on their part would've taken care of efficiency BUT NOT!!!! Horrible customer service and not to mention the managers there just sit in chairs and won't try to go above and beyond to help you....and one manager dropped the ball on the original delivery and failed to email corporate to initially facilitate the first exchange....... After hearing nothing for 2 weeks I called the Sumter Landing store and was told that I had to sign 3 documents. The salesperson could find no record of my sale. This is after I had paid for my purchase in full and paid for shipping. Why was I not told they needed my signature at the time of purchase. It's now more than 2 weeks after purchase and my shipment has not even been acted on. Who knows how long it will stay in their warehouse before somebody wakess up and gets the process started. We were told by the salesperson both items were in stock at the time of purchase. Then we were told they were not in stock. Then we were told the store had no record. BUYER BEWARE!!! My daughter bought a bed from Rudy Fernandez. When it came time for "premium delivery" they couldn't deliver for a week, and they no longer manufactured the mattress she bought!???! Rudy said he would upgrade the mattress, but it could not be delivered until Monday. When it was delivered, the mattress was the cheapest from the showroom. Salesperson was very nice, but he did not tell me that the manual recliners I purchased would not perform like the floor model. The foot rest operates satisfactorily, but after that I have to fight with the chair to push it into a reclining position. Once reclined, I don't dare move my head or shift my body or the back pops back up. I purchased the chairs in August but from the other reviews I don't think that matters, because customer care doesn't care anyway. In October I went into the store to see if anything could be done about this miserable purchase. Alex said he would contact the manufacturer and have them call me. Never received the call.. went back about a week ago and Alex suggested I call customer care. I asked customer care if the chairs could be adjusted. Response was that they would send a tech at my cost of $50. I was so excited.. I would have paid$100 for comfortable chairs. Well...tech arrived, took one look at my chairs and told me they weren't adjustable. Took my $50 and left. Shame on me. Shouldn't have paid him. An hour later customer care called me to tell me nothing could be done. I inquired why a tech was sent to adjust unadjustable chairs??? At my expense. Along with double talk, the rep said there were too many pieces of furniture for them to know them all. I asked if I could exchange them out for power models. reply... NO. I am happy to say after contacting Corporate I received a new chair yesterday. I should have done this months ago. Customer service in this store horrible!!! I received damaged furniture that was not noticed until a week later. You service person came to our home and took pictures of the damage. That was in May and he told me I would receive the part in a few weeks. Every time I call it's another few weeks. Today is 9/28/15 and I still did not receive the part. Customer Service claims the part has to come from China. If I could have put a minus in front of 1 star I would have. At this point, I want my chair replaced and not a part replacement since I bought a brand new chair, I want to enjoy what I spent money on. I think I've given City Furniture enough opportunities to prove that it values its customers and is working at improving its customer service...but it hasn't happened! More than once I have ordered items that are "in stock", but then turns out "they're on backorder"! I've been given delivery dates on more than one occasion that are constantly changed, after I've gone to the trouble to clear my schedule to "wait on delivery". While the staff continues to apologize, I've seen no improvement in the way they do business.
