Unfortunately, I have to select a star, this place doesn't deserve anything at all…read more In retrospect, I should have left a long time ago, I honestly do not know what to say at this point, except the person who was cutting and coloring my hair was totally inept. She was malicious, continually would contradict herself, and would repeatedly deflect her lack of knowledge and state must be something I am doing incorrectly, yet I had never had the issues that were recurring anywhere else. I contacted the color manufacturers regarding the continual issues with the color, she never made any attempt to identify why my hair was both bright orange and gold when it should have been mahogany brown. I found out that she was using a deposit only hair color which washed out after 14 or so shampoos. This I identified when I asked to see what she was using and found it was a temporary color, which I have never had anyone use anywhere else I ever went. When I questioned this the following month, she stood there and blatantly lied and stated something different, however, the boxes she brought out clearly indicated that it was temporary along with the manufacturer's documentation. Both products she used (2 different manufacturing products), were producing identical results, yet she tried to claim it was shampoo or that I used well water, which I don't, and I have always used a premier shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair since I began coloring my hair, and never had a problem anywhere else, only this place I have never been to a more unprofessional place in my life, more importantly repeated problems, horrific listening skills, continual one-upmanship, arrogance, and a lack of knowledge, in extremely basic cutting and shaping skills. Listening skills are very key in their profession, lying is also something you should never do, especially when items are very easily identified. Not once did she ever attempt to form any type of apology for completely screwing up the color or the cut. She also never stated "don't worry about paying this month, I know there have been a lot of problems". The smartest thing I did was walk away from a very shabby shop.

I worked with Paula from City Lights Makeup Artistry for my maternity photo session. Paula is extremely talented in her art form, and also organized as a business woman! We were able to pick a date, and from there I was sent email confirmations, contract, and even handouts with how to ensure I would have the best possible experience. What a great first impression. Paula arrived to our location on-time and brought all professional items with her - including this light that would guarantee application was done correctly no matter the light source of the location. We talked a bit about what look I wanted for the maternity session and Paula's style. (I highly recommend you take a look at her portfolio of work - it is amazing!) I loved my look - both makeup and hair. Honestly, I felt flawless and my picture proofs show this. I know people go back and forth between "just doing their own makeup" or paying for a professional to do it. I can't stress enough that paying a professional is worth every cent. I cannot recommend City Lights Makeup Artistry highly enough! Paula is truly a superb makeup artist, stylist, and a wonderful person. She has done my makeup for two family weddings and all the events surrounding them. She does an incredible job!! Before I met her, she emailed me in advance of the wedding to ask for a photo and pictures of how I would like to look! For every event she has handled, my makeup was natural looking and at the same time exquisite! She gave me options of different "looks" I might prefer (airbrush or foundation;, "smokey eye" to a large or small extent). I asked her to use her judgment, which was impeccable! I was the mother of the groom and I usually wear a minimal amount of makeup so was looking for someone who could make me look like me - but much better! Paula totally nailed it. She listened to what I wanted and made it happen. She let me know that she was running a couple minutes late because of traffic, brought an amazing array of makeup, came to my hotel room - it couldn't have been easier. I had had my hair blown out at "Dry Bar" and she asked me if I was happy with it and when I gave her my feedback she even worked on my hair which was never part of our arrangement. When my son arrived at the very end, she even put something on him so his skin wouldn't look oily or sweaty. I had Paula do make up for my friend and I when we were going out for a long night out with our boyfriends. We both are completely different people with different ideas of what we wanted done but we knew we wanted our make up to look just as good at the end of the night as it did at the beginning . I've known Paula since high school (10 years) & i trusted her do my makeup trial for my wedding yesterday. OMFG, i LOVE it!!! She airbrushed me & did the false lashes, Once she showed me the final result, I couldnt stop looking in the mirror, I have a little psoriasis & some acne on my face & after the makeup application, my face looks soo flawless u cant even tell that i had imperfections to begin with! Hell, it's 5:30am on fri & when i woke up, my makeup still looks as flawless as the min she finished. I may look tired to heck being 530am, but I still look damn sexy even @ this hour!! She is very easy to work with and kept in touch with me for a week prior to the event. I was looking for something special as an anniversary gift. As an older woman, you are always concerned about your youthful looks waning. I had always wanted to do a professional shoot, and time was wasting. Paula was amazing with my make up and hair and let me decide if I would like any personal changes before going in front of the camera. Paula was not offended when I asked for a slight adjustment on my hair and darker eyes. Paula's professionalism and down-to-earth personality put a nervous client at ease. My experience with Paula was amazing! For the trial she gave me the option of either coming to her house or travel to me. I chose to me. She came a fee minutes eatly to the trial to set up and we chatted about my thoughts for my wedding day makeup. She was able to give me the exact look I was looking for!
