I have gone to Sandy L twice now for a hair cut. I have tried several hair stylists in the past to get a short spikey hair cut. They all seem to give me a short cut but not the edgy chic look that I am looking for. Sandy has given me that short spikey style I've been wanting! I swear I have been going to this place since I was less than a year old. No really I have. The staff is great very friendly, I think a lot of them have had the same clients for years and years. I have been going to the same girl for my haircuts for I think 10-plus years. Minus the year or two I grew it out super long. I get the best haircuts here and it is a pretty great price. Through the years, I have gotten my hair cut by three of the people there and they all did a great job. Know a lot of the staff and everyone is very friendly. Can you give a place five stars because of the quality of the clientele? Seriously, I wasn't sure who worked there and who was just there to chat and who was there for a haircut, but they were all so friendly that I'd pay for admission just to hang out. And my hair! Wow. I've been looking for a new salon "home" for a few years and had some experiences that were so gruesome they bordered on macabre! But "never give up/never surrender" so I kept trying. I had a great talk with the stylist (Sharon?) and then she went to work. She explained what she was doing each step of the way and why. She gave me a mini- course on maintenance. And the resulting color and cut was incredible! It was exactly what I wanted and it looks fantastic. I had to stop on the way home and buy new make-up. The stuff i had been using just didn't seem gorgeous enough to go with the hair. read more

I always use this local salon while in town. In the past I've used it for weddings, showers, special events or just for a quick cut. I've always been happy with the results. This time I used them for an awesome look for NYE. Needless to say, I was not disappointed this time either. A bit more expensive then I thought it would be, but the style lasted all night long. I wanted a up-do for dinner and up till midnight, then I wanted let my hair down for after midnight and the after party. Needless to say the look was great till I got home at 7am. I noticed that when I used to get a hair cut at other locations it took about a week, or so, for it to look okay. However, when I leave Van Gogh after Robert cuts my hair, it looks incredible right from the finish. I don't want to go so far as to say that the man's a genius . . . Okay, I'll go so far as to say that, "the man is a genius." And he's quite entertaining to chat with, although I wonder if he enjoys long walks on the beach. I know a number of people who've gotten serviced there and they also rave about the other stylists who not only cut, but color and whatever else you can get done to your hair. Apparently you can also get work done to your nails. Call ahead of time to make an appointment because they may be booked up. Helpful tip: Even if you don't need it, I highly recommend getting your hair washed by someone else because I, and everyone else on the planet, find(s) it to be one of the most relaxing events of all (and be sure to tip for that. there's a jar on the counter in the front that says "tips for shampoo" or something to that effect. you'll figure it out.) read more

Was ready for a change in stylists and salons and tried Van Gogh for my first time today. Was refreshing to have one stylist finish both my color and cut and take pride in not rushing me in and out. Sandy gave me what was probably the most thorough cut I've ever had. She used a technique on my color with twisting that I had not had done before and it turned out with more of a marble look without foiling a single strand. Pricing was reasonable too! read more

I don't get my hair cut as often as I should, but when I do, I can always trust my hair will come out amazing looking when Robert (the owner) works his magic! Robert is so personable that from the very first time that I went to Van Gogh, I had felt like I knew him forever! He has a great sense of humor and keeps me entertained the whole time I am there. On June 22, 2013 I came to Van Gogh Hair Salon with my mother, bridesmaids, flower girls, and sisterinlaws to get our hair done for my wedding later that day. I had called a couple months before the wedding to get more information and the owner, Robert, told me that the salon was capable of handling the eleven girls and would have everyone ready on time for pictures. However, that was far from the case. I had met with my stylist, Melanie, a few weeks before the wedding to do a trial run and found her to be very talented and appreciated her opinions and help in making the decision on what to do with my hair, though I thought that the $70 trialrun was extremely overpriced. However, we really appreciated that the salon would be opening early for us, would allow us to do our own makeup, change, and bring in food. I decided to book with Van Gogh and we agreed on a time for the girls and I to show up to begin the process. The day of the wedding, we showed up ontime and found that there were only two hair stylists there and that the owner would be coming later. We immediately went to work and quickly found that Melanie was the only one capable of doing an updo. The other lady assisting was very kind and helpful, but all she could do was curl hair, she did not know how to do an updo and since every girl was getting an updo, this became a major issue. After we had been at the salon for over an hour, the owner finally showed up and started helping. He basically started talking about his "escapades" the night before, explaining why he was an hour late, which was unbelievably unprofessional. In the end, all of the girls were supposed to be done with their hair at 10am, and by 11:30, I was still waiting for three of the bridesmaids and two of the flower girls to show up and take pictures before the ceremony started at 12:00. This is completely unacceptable. Van Gogh should not have told me that they are capable of handling something like this and the owner should not have been late. Since they took an extra hour and a half to finish, I missed out on pictures with my bridesmaids before the ceremony, and since my photographer had to wait until the bridesmaids were done at 11:30, he had to skip taking pictures of my husband and groomsmen altogether. I am beyond furious and more than that, I am sad that this company caused such anger on my wedding day and such lasting disappointment. read more

Just love this salon. My girl knows exactly what I want done and it is done to perfection. This salon is classy and the stylist show class and perfection in all they do.
