This is my favorite place to go in Boone. I can only speak for a regular or gel manicure and regular pedicure, but they have always done a great job on these services. They are also very attentive and quick compared to other shops I've been to. They do hop around quite a bit, but I like that I get to interact with multiple technicians. I moved to Boone area a year and a half ago. Arriving here I did research to find a good nail salon as I get my nails done on a regular basis. I decided to try City Nails after seeing that none of the salons got great reviews but theirs were okay. I then went in and asked who was the best for pink and whites(knowing not everyone was trained to do them). I was told Tim. I told Tim the first time he did my nails that when I find a good salon I am a loyal customer. Tim did my nails for a little over a year and then 4 months ago I decided to change to acrylic with gel color so anyone could do my nails as they stopped doing appointments (A temporary thing because of Covid) and it was hard to get in. I had also started to bring my mom with me about a year ago. Thursday around 2p.m. upon entering the salon Tim said, "can you come back later?" We said we would return tomorrow. We came in Friday at 10a.m. knowing that they open at 9a.m. and that it would hopefully be less busy. This time (they were less busy) we were asked to come back in an hour. We signed in, told them fill and pedicure for mom, and fill and brows for me. I let them know we would run some errands and come back. At this point my mom mentioned to me that she thought perhaps they were mad because the time before she didn't like the color she picked, so she asked for it to be changed. She emphasized that she just didn't like the color she picked and she was soooo sorry. She also said she would be happy to pay an extra charge. I told her I really didn't think they were mad at her about anything, that I was sure she wasn't the first to not like a color and she paid for the change. We came back 45 minutes later. Long story short, the service was and has been very disjointed, in that they are trying to keep as many customers in the store, in seats and working on them in some way(going back and forth between customers) without enough employees. We were use to that part...it was taking time, but they were doing a nice job. I did find Tim not to be as personable and talkative as normal when I tried to start a conversation and he was overly focused on asking, when doing my mom's nails, if they were okay. Irritatingly so. I say this now, looking back of course, after hearing from the owner, Tim's aunt, while she was waxing my brows, that because my mom was "so picky" last time, that the guy doing my mom's nails and his wife quit that day. She told me MULTIPLE times that it was because my mom was so picky that they quit!! I was instantly sick to my stomach and thought, wow mom called that one right! We were asked to come back later one day and asked to wait an hour another day when others were told 30 minutes and 45 minutes while we were there. People that came in after us were getting service before us as well. All because they were upset that two employees supposedly left because a customer wanted a color change on nails. I did say to the owner that my mom was the customer, and that you should want the customer to be happy. Also that she offered to pay for the change and DID pay for the color change. I told her that she apologized profusely saying it was her fault. I don't think she really even heard me as she was focused on my mom and how because of her, she lost two employees. I found this to be very unprofessional and it left a pit in my stomach after going there for a year and a half. I went to pay where we then found out that our fills went up $6. I'm not sure if that was a normal rise in prices or a "picky" fee. As customers who always try to be loyal we left good tips when we should not have left any. Went here based on reviews. Did not disappoint. It's not a fancy place but it is perfect for Boone. It's clean and well run. Everyone was incredibly friendly, quick and talented. I came to do my upper lip wax and they convinced me to do my eyebrows which I didn't want to do because no where around here knows how to do eyebrows. She didn't go over my upper lip or eyebrows with tweezers neither did she cut my eyebrow hairs to even it out. I literally purchased tweezers at ingles afterwards because I can't stand when my eyebrows look weird. I paid $20 w/ tip I don't think it's worth it I rather wait 2 months for my threading lady to do the job right and pay less than that. read more

They did an excellent job on my pedicure. The women that helped my friend and I were extremely nice and polite, and did not attempt to push any package or treatment that we didn't request. The girl who did my nails didn't ask me how I wanted them filed and just went ahead and filed them round. She didn't pay attention while doing my nails and did not clean off the excess gel polish under my nails.They also cut my friend and didn't apologize. And the man who was doing my friend's nails insulted my asian friend just because she didn't speak Vietnamese. Their service was okay, but I will not be going back. I can't believe these reviews are legitimate. I needed my nails done while traveling through, Boone the week before last. When I passed City Nails, I took a chance on them. While they were very friendly and fast, I was extremely disappointed with the manicurist's work. She began by soaking my fingers in a bowl of acetone rather than by removing the old shellac from my nails. then she smeared polish onto my fingers and toes and never bothered to clean it up. They charged me $70 for a mani-pedi and I won't go back. read more

Pedicure was not worth 35 dollars. It was busy so they were rushing. It's hard to get to everyone when you only have 3 people working. Paid $35 for shellac nail manicure and did not get a manicure. My hands were soaked and cuticles were treated but that's it... Such a rip off, no lotion, massage, heat. I pay to relax and I did not get that experience. Over all $70 trip for an ok job. THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE!! DO NOT TRUST ANY OF THE OTHER REVIEWS!! Seriously don't! Not worth trying. I've been there twice and left both times with a horrible experience. The first time I got a french gel manicure. The service wasn't great but my nails looked fine, but after one or two days they all started to chip. Gel is supposed to last 2 - 3 weeks, so I went back and had them fix my nails. They wanted to charge me again. The second time I went only because a group of my friends asked me to. I hoped it would be a better experience but it was terrible. The place was dirty and the people were rude. They made fun of our feet and skin. I had two women work on my nails; one started to put lotion on my leg then left to do something else and had the other finish. They scrubbed my feet so hard I have blisters on my toes, they didn't paint all the way to the edges, and some of my nails are chipped. And only a day later the polish is chipping. They charged each of us a higher amount than the listed price for no apparent reason. I will not be back except to ask for a refund. read more

Disappointed. The nail tech didn't cut my toenails with clippers but with the cuticle nippers and cut them way too short and uneven. The polish is very messy. She hit one of my big toes and scraped the polish off and was going to leave it until I asked her to please fix it. Worst. mani/pedi. ever. I am visiting and came in because of the positive reviews. What a mistake! The towels and equipment are filthy. I should have left when the woman didn't get clean utensils for my pedicure! She stopped in the middle 4 times to tend to other people. I brought my own polish and gave her the top coat, which she put only on the big toes. I, literally, sat later at the manicure station and put the top coat on the rest of the nails myself. Ok...MY fault for not saying anything...but at the time I wasn't sure she had finished...I thought she was just stopping to go to someone else. She did not put my shoes (flip flops) back on my feet, nor did she give me the foam disposable ones...Just trek across the dirty floor in your bare feet and carry your shoes. Gel manicure was not much better. Assembly line between me and other patrons. Neither the mani nor pedi had any type of cuticle lotion, trim or massage. Again, I should have said something or better yet, just left and cut my losses after the pedi, but $65 (not a bad price if the experience was not so awful) later, and I will go home and redo it all myself. I was looking forward to a little relaxation and to come out with nails that looked better than when I went in. Neither happened. I got a pedicure along with one of my friends and at the end e still had dead skin on our feet and almost didn't look any different from when we walked in. This is the absolutely worst place I have ever been in my entire life. I am 50 years old and have been getting pedicures and manicures all my life . When I went in they told me the wait was 30 min which I was fine with that, however the lady that gave me my pedicure was doing another one at the same time. Back and forth, never seen anything like that, it was horrible. Cuticles were neglected and also was the leg massage. Lady kept giving me an excuse that someone was not at work today. There were also 2 children ages 1-3 that kept running around crying. No one was saying anything. Atmosphere was horrible. When it was time for me to get my manicure I had to walk across a cold floor barefooted (no slippers) and place my feet on a cold floor. There was no hand and arm massage,I asked if I could please have a towel to place my feet on. My nails were NOT FILED PROPERLY AND WHEN I BEGIN TO COMPLAIN, she placed the blame on my nails. There was no place to sit to dry my nails. I ended up leaving, almost in tears and 50$ was my fee. PLEASE PLEASE TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW DO NOT GO THERE.
