Near the end of our tour

This was one of the best decisions I made while visiting. Fun to ride, great guide, no walking (j/k) but for real, my feet & knees hurt believe it or not. Covered some good ground and if there is a slight chance of rain, I highly recommend you buy their rain poncho for a buck. I missed that part. Oh, and the tour does not turn around or get canceled. You trudge forward and suck it up ;) had a great time, now I know what sites I really want to get back to see tomorrow.

If you haven't gone on a Segway tour before, you HAVE to go! If you already experienced a Segway tour, you HAVE to go again!! My husband & I scheduled our tour before our trip. At first, we were all excited because we never rode a Segway before and never had a reason to until now. So after your sign the waiver and watch the ridiculously exaggerated "training video", you get to practice with your tour guide. If it is possible, you have to experience your tour with ERIC or GREG; actually we called him GREIC or ERIEG*. *background story: after our training video, one of the employees was distributing people within their tour guys. She said his name was ERIC with confidence! And as our group looked around to see who Eric was; both tour guys looked lost. Then our tour guy spoke up and said his name was Greg! And the girl was embarrassed; we all laughed about it. But throughout the tour, everyone just made ERIC his name because everyone besides me forgot his real name, GREG! Okay, back to the review. GREIC was a funny tour guide. As we were segwaying along, he would sing songs and tell us cool facts as we passed by places. He was also friendly and willing to talk about other topics if you are hanging up in the front. We ended up segwaying through the night. Segwaying is an obviously much quicker way to tour the most popular stuff. We zoomed past the museums and GREIC recommended ones that he personally enjoyed. Taking this tour before sunset (6 or 6:30pm on a Sunday) was the perfect time. It wasn't too hot or to cold. It was just right. At the tour spots we stopped at, GREIC offered to take our pictures. So that was nice of him. Taking pictures of the monuments turned out beautiful!!! However, while riding the Segway, my feet went numb, my lower back was a bit tired, and my legs were a bit stiff. GREIC let's us take breaks. I wore comfortable sandals with heel straps and segwaying was just fine. I wouldn't wear heels. Our group was wearing walking shoes and they had the same problem as me. But it wasn't too bad, so that was nice. I suggest bringing water along and maybe a small snack if you didn't eat dinner before hand. Overall, 5 stars! THANK YOU GREG! If we come back to D.C. again, we'll be wanting to tour with you again!!!

Before I go into anything its a flat 75 dollars per head with a hefty deposit. With that said, I definitely had the time of my life, The Segway after initially figuring out to ride it really became rather enjoyable after a few minutes after I became acclimated with Bessie. Its definitely a exhilarating experience being able to see DC on your off day in under 3 hours and have time to take pictures. I think the convenience alone is worth the money, because who really wants to walk all around DC? I certainly would not. Thats if I wanted to see everything within a reasonable amount of time. This is a must go when you're in DC or rather the fact any city that offers a segway tour, its your best bet to see all the important and cool stuff in the city, with amazing tour guides who definitely do an amazing job explaining and leading.

I've done the CitySegway tour in Paris (same company) and when I realized I was headed to DC, I wanted to do it again. And honestly, I would do it again and again and again. Aside from getting the chance to ride on a Segway (completely cool and really easy to ride), I find that Segway tours are one of the best to do when being a tourist in a city you are not very familliar with. You can cover so much ground and see so many site in a matter of hours. Our particular guide, Aaron, was really knowledgeable and always had his eyes out making sure that we didn't get too close to one another or any poles or what not, as the Segways are pretty wide. I think he mentioned he was a Social Studies teacher, to which his knowledge surely enhanced our sightseeing tour. We did the afternoon tour (6pm), which Aaron says is usually the least crowded...and to be honest with you, I think the smartest tour to take. It's not as hot, and the sights you are visiting are not that crowded....therefore the sidewalks aren't crowded either. And yes...you are riding the Segways on the sidewalk. I would recommend to spend your time during the day visiting the museums and then hitting the Segway tour in the afternoon. They'll bring you to all the other sites around DC like the theatre where Lincoln was shot, Capitol Hill, the White House, etc. It sure beats walking around all day long....but don't be fooled cause even though you aren't walking...you are still standing on the Segway for hours. Aaron was nice to have us stop at certain spots and just kind of get off our Segways to sit down or stretch our legs. I also recommend to purchase or bring water with you before you leave their main office. They got water for $1 which sure beats buying them for like $2 off the street vendors. The only thing I would warn future Segway riders is that other people....pedestrians, bikers, and even car drivers/riders can be quite ignorant and idiotic by making comments as you tour on your Segway. It doesn't necessarily take away from the experience...and there aren't very many commenters...but you may experience one or 2 rude or idiotic statements from passers-by. Most people think the Segways are pretty cool. I'm one of them. Here are links to the route Aaron took us on....they generally do different routes but cover the same sights around DC. Forgive the 2 links, the GPS on my phone stopped when we hit Capitol Hill. Hmmmm. Coincidence? I wish I could give CST a higher rating! They are awesome! First, we were a couple of minutes late because parking was a bit confusing for us foreigners (Texans) but they didn't make us feel bad. Caught us up pretty quickly. The groups are small (ours had 6) so you don't feel cramped together. Each Segway has a speaker on it which is how your guide talks to you throughout the tour. The tour, Monuments & Memorials, stops at all of the highlights you will want to see. As far as the Capitol & the White House - it's not on the tour but realistically you're going to see that at some point while you're in DC anyway so why waste time you're paying for to see them. Spend the time stopping to see the cool stuff you would have to drive & pay for parking when you're going to stay at it for 10 minutes. & 10 minutes is about how long you get to stay at each stop. It's plenty of time I promise. And if you want to go back you always can. This Segway tour gives you all of the highlights so don't think you're going to leisurely hang out at each stop. Best for last - Kelly, our guide, was super fun and personable. Very easy going and sweet. She gave us plenty of facts about the tour stops without being boring or droning on & on. She didn't make a lady feel bad when she fell off her Segway even though the lady was laughing at herself. Kelly was overall fun and the best guide we could have had. She took the time to remember all of our names and where we were all from. Very sweet and impressive. I highly recommend her if you have an option of requesting who you want to be with if you choose this company to go with - and you SHOULD!! Plus at the end you get a popsicle so that should seal the deal all on its own :)

I went on my 4th Segway tour with City Segway on a Monday night National Mall tour. Beautiful sunset tour! Like each time before, the guide was exceedingly patient with the first-timers and made sure we were all comfortable and safe. This is the best way to see so many parts of DC in a 3 hour timespan. I can't imagine having to walk the whole mall. For the amount of fun and productive sightseeing, this is a great deal!

Look mom , no hands !! ;)

I had a great time on this tour. It was my fourth segway tour and this was one of the best. ( Chicago , Budapest , and Charleston SC were also fun) Gil , our guide , was excellent. She knew all the history and explained all the monuments very well. Having done the big bus the day before , I was able to add lib in some of the more interesting facts I learned as well for the group that she hadn't mentioned. ;). They Segways are easy to master so don't be shy. I highly recommend the tour. The Segways aren't allowed all the way into the monuments of course so you will be able to check them out on foot for 10-15 minutes each at each stop. You have to do at least one Segway tour in your life , so make it this one while your visiting DC.

Had great time!! It's a 3 hour tour - ours actually went over, more like 3.5 hours. I was so uncertain about all of it. We test drove them a little before heading out and I was so shaky, I thought about just quitting right there. BUT I didn't and got the hang of it as we went along. So I think most anyone could learn. Because I was so tense and nervous to start my feet were extremely tired from just 3 hours of standing. Wear comfortable shoes!! Some of the other tours appear to use headsets to inform you of attractions along the way - not sure if this would be distracting or not. City Segway just finds places to stop and talk about the sights. Maybe I wish there was more information but seeing as how our trip went 30 minutes over I don't know how they would pack much more information in. I don't know if it's common practice but I DID tip my guide. I used to do work like this and it means a ton when your guests like you and slip you a little extra.

The tour was a blast! We did the 6pm Segway tour of the monuments and memorials. I have to say this was the highlight of our trip to DC. Anna was our guide. She was super knowledgeable and funny. She definitely made the tour a 5 star. We will go with City Segway any time we are in DC or another city where they are located.

This was my second Segway experience and it was so much fun. With Sam as our guide we took the evening tour of monuments. The learning-to-drive part of the evening was quick and thorough. Sam did an excellent job of sharing information about the city and history. I would suggest this as one of the first things you do when you get to DC so you can get the lay of the land. Even though we got rained on it was still quite enjoyable. I highly recommend this company and Segways in general.

Another great adventure with City Segway Tours! Our first tour was Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, in preparation for our D.C. trip. So FUN and soooo EASY! Despite the Government Shutdown (it at least kept the crowds at bay), we had a wonderful time. Just as we left the Segway office (on Thurs., Oct.3rd) and headed toward the Capitol, our guide got a call that there had been a car chase and shooting and that that part of the Mall was closed. She steered us instead toward the Tidal Basin and Jefferson Memorial. We covered about 7 miles in three hours and I must say it sure beats walking! Carmen, our guide, was well informed, patient and lots of fun! Looking forward to our next adventure -Vienna maybe?

Whether you're a Segway novice or a vet who's Segway toured in a dozen+ cities around the world, this tour is for you! Many cities have you on busy/crowded/dangerous streets but these guys have you only on some quiet/safe streets for a short time to & from their centrally located office. The majority of the time is on wise-open pathways or bike-paths that give you breath taking views and photo-ops around every corner! Our guide, Fiona, was FABULOUS & a breath of fresh air! She gave us as much or as little structure as we wanted giving us as much or little info as my teen-aged kids wanted as well! The groups are kept to max 8 which is why I went with them; they have optional walkie-talkies but we were 5 in our group so we went without. The 'other' big Segway company has a max of 12 people in a group and I was worried that my easily-distracted teenagers would loose interest. They were very responsive with email & we easily made our reservations all online but awhile in advance (beat the rush & book now)! Last tip: We took the 3-hour tour at 7pm at the end of June... PERFECT! Got to see the sights in perfect photographic light & also saw the monuments light up at night!

She also made sure our group stayed together and safely crossed the streets. He also knew his way round the current blockages/construction and was able to avoid politics while discussing the current construction which takes mad skills.
