We booked Arlington with the old town trolley tour. We combined the old trolley and Arlington tour. However, the website allows you to book separate dates for the 2 tours. Before you go on the tour, use the map trolley tracker to plan and track trolley live. It acts like a map and will guide you to the various stops. If you're driving, make sure to choose a stop and find the public parking closest to that area in order to return to your car after the tour. Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. The old time trolley will not drive you into Arlington. It will drop you at A1 spot to catch the Arlington trolley. Check the map consistently due to road closures. Other than that, I highly recommend you do this tour with the Arlington tour if you're tight on time in DC. Get off at strategic spot, see what you need to see, and move onto the next. From my observation, the trolley is not really wheelchair accessible. Person should be able to hop on and off without much assistance. Took the Old Town Trolley Tour during the Cherry Blossom Festival, and overall it was a really enjoyable experience. A bit on the pricey side, but you do get to see a lot. Almost $190 for 2 adults and 1 child. (They start charging adult price at age 13.) Our tour guide was fun! Super knowledgeable about DC's history and landmarks, and kept things entertaining the entire time. They also deserve major credit for skillfully navigating all the traffic and crowds during peak cherry blossom season, which is no small task. It was a great way to see the city without the stress of figuring out transportation during such a busy time. The tour guides we had were good, informative and fun. The only issue we had was getting someone who had a wheelchair on to a trolley at stops. At the Lincoln memorial, we had a ton of people rush on ahead of us making no room for our wheelchair to get on. The driver was extremely rude to us when we asked when the next accessible trolley would be available. After asking three times, getting no answer, he rudely told us to back up, he had to go. I only had one day to explore DC. After the White House tour I scheduled months prior, I walked around a bit and realized how far many of the monuments and memorials are from each other. I would've rented a bike or scooter, but I was with a friend who couldn't ride either, so we looked into these buses cruising around. What we liked about Old Town Trolley is that they allow you to hop off at any of the 14 major attraction stops, and the next trolley runs about every 15 to 20 minutes from 9 AM till 4 PM. The entire tour without getting off is about 90 minutes. They also have night tours which I've heard are pretty good. I also liked that the drivers provide live narration with a great sense of humor! Each driver seems to have their own style in story telling, but they are very informative. They have a tip jar, but I didn't have cash on me. I asked the driver if he had Venmo or some type of cash app and he didn't! *Suggestion for the manager reading these reviews: have the tour drivers set up other methods of receiving tip other than cash! We got our 1-day ticket for about $50 at the Welcome Center, but prices may vary depending on deals and where you purchase them. I believe they have 3-day passes as well for those who wish to spend longer periods of time at the stops. After searching, we could not find the big bus and the wonderful employees from old town trolley came to our rescue. This was the perfect way to visit 15 of the major Washington D.C. monuments. Unfortunately, it was a rather cool evening and I did not sit at the back (which is where you want to sit) because the windows (flaps) were rolled up and it was freezing. Finally, others started complaining and the driver put the flaps down and turned on the heat which made the rest of the tour waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more comfortable. Our driver was great. Very knowledgeable and informative. I have never been a tour guide, but when people start to talk over you, I would have asked them to contribute so that EVERYONE on the bus could hear what was being said. I heard about the Monuments by Moonlight Tour through the JW Marriott hotel. When I checked in, they recommended taking the trip to see the highlights of D.C in just a couple of hours. Since I was only staying for a few nights, I figured it wouldn't hurt to try it out. Given that I took this tour in the winter, it was inevitable that the trolley would be freezing cold. There are curtains inside that you can use to cover the windows, but you feel awkward having to ask other people near you if it's okay to bring them down since they obscure your view and picture-taking. But, we didn't resort to that until the very end of the tour. I suggest you bundle up nicely, with a puffy coat, hat and all to be safe. However, the cold didn't disturb my enjoyment of this trip, mostly thanks to our amazing tour guide. I'll never forget MJ and his clever wit guiding us through D.C, presenting many locations that held American history. I loved how organized he was with our group as well. It's stressed that we are allowed to get off at three stops, but we should never steal someone else's seat, and if we want to depart from the trip for any reason, then we must let him know. That's great to lessen any chaos that could come from the tour, and I appreciated how he repeated those rules throughout the evening. I'd recommend this to anyone who has a brief stay in D.C and wants to see the best of the area as quickly as possible. But, it can easily be a joy for anyone else to join on this excursion, as long as they are ready to take lots of pictures and listen in on some fun facts from a charming guide. You may not have MJ when it's your turn to visit, but I'm confident the other guides are just as good. read more
