While City Skyline makes a respectable cup of coffee, latte in my case, it's the vibe that will have me coming back. City skyline has a ton of aviation-related memorabilia, including bona-fide airplane seats and a bulkhead, complete with overhead compartments. I was even temped to buckle my seatbelt for the completeness of the experience, but felt that if there was 'turbulence' this was perhaps the only case where I *wouldn't* want my seatbelt fastened. Together with the aforementioned, the vibe is comfy, and not a bad spot to spend an hour or two. The latte I ordered was good. It wasn't overly sweet, and had great flavor. A latte lover would likely get more enjoyment out of it, compared to someone like me, who like their coffee industrial strength with the bitterness to go with it. The prices are fair - not the cheapest ever, but without the gut punch of competitors. The service is great. It is polite and fast. Point also for being mindful of a person experiencing a mental health condition outside, and locking the door that they do not create a severe disruption. Final verdict: The coffee is very good, but the cozy, aviation vibe is the real selling point! Would recommend?: Yes, especially to av-geeks. Would return?: Yes, especially when I get the itch to simulate flying somewhere, only without delays, TSA, or any of the discombobulation related to airports and flying. read more

This coffee shop has an airplane theme. The backroom had a cool wall art display with paper planes. I tried the horchata latte because that was the drink they were promoting that day. It was way too sweet. They added syrup even though the horchata is already supposed to be sweet. They had me at "crepes for lunch", lol. Crepes are one of my favorite dishes, so I was nothing short of motivated to give this place a try. They end their lunch at 3, and we came in at 3:15 - the barista asked the cook if they could still serve lunch, and he agreed to do so. I'm SO glad he did, because the crepe was really good! My Runaway LUX crepe was evenly packed with ingredients, tasted very clean, and was flavorful. I was pleasantly surprised with how much salmon was inside. The ambiance was welcoming and fun as well - my friend and I sat in the back playing UNO while my meal was being prepared, and it was comfortable enough for us to sit there and chat for about an hour after I finished my meal. Upon us leaving, the barista thanked us for visiting and gave us some coupons for our next visit - I was definitely going to visit again, and now I have an incentive to do so. read more

This is where you go for ambiance. What I love about this cafe is that they weren't afraid to pick a theme and go all out with it. The owners clearly put very careful thought into the decor including actual airplane seats! The staff was super friendly and was more than happy to walk me through their pastry selections of the day. Coffee and atmosphere whisked me away. In the summer before you even enter, you're prepped to the scene with the welcome of a travel luggage outside besides the seasonal menu. As soon as you turn to face the store front you're greeted with a series of aeronautical and airport decor, such as prices of a plane, a runway painted on the ceiling and a series of miniature planes. I'm a simple coffee drinker and typically go for either black drip or espresso. Although here I was intrigued with the summer tropical menu. I ordered a hot "almond joy"that was made with homemade almond chocolate and was blown away. Semi sweet, decadent, mild coconut. I couldn't help but love it. Currently they do have some business cards outside the store front that offer a free drip coffee if you're interested in trying them. Break free from your mundane coffee and try something new that will take you on a trip. I'm so happy to have finally made it to this woman-owned new coffee shop in Lincoln Square! I asked about some of the seasonal flavors and asked about the sweetness level. The owner, Maria, made my drink and it was perfect! Adjusted from The original recipe because she knew I wasn't looking for an overly sweet drink. Small business for the win! We talked with her for a while and learned she is using Sparrow coffee which is apparently used at Michelin star restaurants and hard to find. No wonder my latte was so good! She has big plans including opening up the wall to her boutique (Raw Edge) next door, getting a patio permit, serving booze, opening a small kitchen to gavel food options, and more. I'm excited to see how her business grows and evolves! She's very nice and I hope the community is able to keep her business running especially through these first few months / winter. I just have to alert potential customers of the blatantly deceptive menu practices here. They offer a chicken crepe that was described as having "shredded chicken" and "aioli". When I received mine, it was a few pieces of prepackaged, sliced, white deli meat. Whether it's called chicken or not I don't know or care at this point. And the "aioli" is actually undeniably Miracle Whip. Yall it would be funny if they were intentionally trying to be funny. $20 for this fake food and a coffee feels so wrong. Ambiance is frustrating considering they have plants in there with lots of gnats flying around in your face and landing on your food. Sorry but this whole experience felt like highway robbery. After seeing this on TikTok, I decided to venture over from my location in the Gold Coast. Easy to hop on the red and brown line to get to Western and then a four minute walk to Lincoln Square I arrived just after opening on a Saturday and was already impressed with the decor and vibes. I was greeted by the owner, Maria, who was super friendly and we ended up chatting for the rest of my visit. I opted for a strawberry mocha latte iced I believe that what it was called And a blueberry cheesecake croissant. Great music. Her little dog Simon is in and out of the location so if you see him, give him a couple of scratches behind the ear. What a great location to hang out have coffee and a pastry. Don't forget to visit her art Boutique next-door and help support local artists as well as small business. Parking straight out in front. The airplane decor is for any AV geek. Such a cute concept for a coffee shop! We love the Aviation theme, super different compared to any other shop which makes this place truly spectacular. Owner Maria and her dog Simon opened up two months ago in Lincoln Square, taking over the previous Vom Fass location. Maria is incredibly warm, kind, and considerate. She gave us the history of how her concept came to be, explained how she got certain aviation materials such as the seats and when the parts went out of commission. I truly believe in her vision for the shop and am excited to see what happens next--perhaps she will expand the coffee bar area along with an alcohol bar. Now for the coffee, oh my god it was great. I tried the Ferrero roche coffee and my husband got the espresso which comes as a double. My coffee was excellent and beautifully presented. My husband loved the espresso and said it made him feel like he was back in Europe. Also of note, even the bathroom is aviation themed! Coffee was quite good but not necessarily the best I've ever had. There is a limited amount of pastries or goodies available by the front but none of it looked particularly good. The owner has sourced vintage flight/travel-themed items and incorporated them into the shop along with other aesthetically pleasing designs and details.
