CityCenter DC is an outdoor mall with plenty of great dining options. The shopping is a little limited for me as most of them were on the expensive side It's a great place to walk around and look at non-museums for a change. Or grab a drink, a dessert or have great dining options for a change. read more

CityCenterDC is a pedestrian-friendly, mixed-use luxury destination for shopping, dining, and leisure in downtown DC. Everything about this commercial district is upscale and opulence, including the Conrad hotel which is situated along New York Avenue. Security is vigilant here. Their presence is conspicuous and they patrol access to the local apartments. As long as you are not engaging in suspicious activity, they are quite relaxed about letting you meander and take photo opportunities. In particular, in and around Palmer Alley, a pedestrianized alley with iconic (and social media-worthy) overhead installations. Palmer Alley drives a lot of the foot traffic to CityCenter because of its vibrant and inviting overhead installations that reflect the seasons and holidays. The Christmas season at CityCenter is also a must-see destination for their Christmas tree lighting ceremony and decorative Christmas displays which last through the season. Keep in mind, the Christmas tree site is actively monitored and security guards heavily enforce the rules and behavior of the grounds; one of which is no walking on the stone displays. It seems every time I visit CityCenter I witness security guards motion at least one visitor to not walk or sit on the displays. Overall, a high-class destination also accommodating to families and window shoppers. read more

City Center has all of the top of the line upscale shops that you can think of including Chanel, Tiffany, Gucci and so much more. I oftentimes come over here if I want to stop by the Tatte or look at the beautiful decor that they change out seasonally. This time I stopped by and the holiday decor was up including their beautiful christmas tree! This is a great spot to come and take photos. Also, when I used to work in the area I used to love to come to their outdoor farmers market. They have stands set up with empanadas, produce, eggs and my favorite kale salad stand. I do believe that this is just seasonal and when it's warm outside so be sure to check it out in the spring when it's back again. read more

Full disclosure: I used to be a "Yuppie". When I lived Inside the Loop ("ITL") Houston, I used to marvel at "City Centers". Still do. That was before I learned about central planning, social engineering, and what is commonly referred to as "15 minute cities". In any event, I still like checking them out when I visit big "Luxury Belief" cities. They are a striking representation of what these cities aim to be. Now, having said all of that, they are convenient, for sure. And this one is no exception. Need coffee that isn't Starbucks in a hurry? Check. Need to get a coat and tie because you forgot a few necessities while packing for your trip? Check. Need to feel pretentious and act like you are better than anyone living in "Flyover Country"? Check! Okay, I'm being facetious. That said, I really like this place. For some reason, I'm drawn to it every time I visit DC. read more

This is a lovely shopping area with a bunch of stores if you're interested in shopping. Otherwise, you can take a nice stroll and just take in the views on Palmer Alley. It's really beautiful and a great location to take pictures. I'd highly recommend stopping by if you're ever in the area. read more

It's a nice neighborhood with upscale restaurants and boutique shops, luxury brand shops, coffee shops and condominiums, and underground parking garages. It's within walking distance of Chinatown, the Portrait Gallery, and other landmarks and tourist attractions of Washington, D.C. The area is well-maintained and a good place to stroll around, shop, or eat. read more

Went [window]shopping in this lovely little district! You can find a large variety of high-end shops, boutiques, and eateries here. It's a vibrant area to go for a leisurely stroll, grab a coffee, or take pictures. I mainly came here to see Palmer Alley in-person (the corridor with floating decor) - cute for photo-ops! read more

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas ;-) I wanted to see the tree and all the trimmings - what better way to do so than while shopping!!!! City Center is packed with luxury boutiques : gucci, chanel, tesla, hermes, burberry, louis vuitton, and tiffany. Dining options include Del Frisco's, Fig & Olive, Dolce Pizza, and Milk Bar. I enjoyed myself and the decorations were lovely. I just wished I had made it for the lighting festivities. read more

I came here just to see what the City Center DC was all about. This place has all the major high-end brands in one area so if you want to go to town and splurge this is probably the right spot for you. For me, I wasn't really in a shopping mood. But it was clean, nice and empty when I came here. They are also opening a Chanel store soon so that will probably be ready in no time. I didn't go into any of the stores just walked around and the buildings around this area were quite nice and beautiful. If you have time and just want to see how this place looks like I would say if you aren't shopping you'll be able to walk around everything within 15-20 minutes but if you are shopping it might depend on how many stores and what you want to buy. read more

I truly love this outdoor mall. Even in the colder months it's still nice to walk through and be able to stop and grab lunch, dinner, coffee or even a snack. This mall is mainly high-end shopping with a few great restaurants and cafés. During the summer, they have a small water fountain that you tend to see children walking through and playing in. I work nearby so I tend to have lunch in their outdoor seating often. Highly recommend if you're in the area. Also, there is parking available under city center as well as street parking is typically available. read more

Located in the heart of the district, there's a lot to discover at CityCenterDC this fall. This is a mini Fifth Ave in DC. Dior, Hermés, Bvlgari, Burberry, Louis Vuitton... high-end fashion? Where am I? It gave me such a strong stab of NYC nostalgia; I kind of wanted to cry because I'm not in NYC while also feeling extremely grateful to find that a place like this exists here. I don't know how much shopping I'll realistically be doing here until I get a couple more raises, but this is the New York City-iest slice of DC I've yet to discover - and as someone born and bred in western CT forever dreaming of "the big apple" (New Yorkers don't call it that), I'll definitely be back to window-shop and dream and again, maybe cry. read more

If you're looking to shop some high-end stores this is your spot. If not, just walking through, people watching or trying one of the eateries is also an option. I've been twice and the first time just sat at one of the tables in the heart of the center, by the fountain where I rested, watched kids play in the water, and people watched. The recent time I stopped in a couple of shops. First the Louis Vuitton store, where per usual there's no acknowledgment upon entry... for quite some time. My biggest hang up with high end stores is much like the Pretty Woman movie they size you up not realizing how they're about to make a big mistake! Anyway, took some time, but finally a woman greeted us and provided help. Also went to the Vince store where we were greeted by one fella as we scoped out the clothing. While I get it's a high end area, incorporating some moderately priced specialty stores would be nice to draw in more clientele. Doesnt have to be Marshalls (which I like), but a Club Monaco, Banana Republic. Anyway, not sure how the stores do business-wise, but its a cool area. read more

I'd like to put my city in your center, but that's another story for another day. Gorgeous, futuristic little place in the heart of DC, close to the arena. Some kind of space-age thing with a water pool and a cool TV screen and lots of fun colours. If you imagined someone was trying to build stuff for the movie Back To The Future 2 (but set in 2085 instead of 2015), then you might imagine this place. read more

Wonderful place just to walk around and take photos... from the high end retail to the fountains to the decor to the big TV that displays dozens of different kinds of digital art above your head and beside you. The outside decor even changes with the seasons! Only nice addition would be a good craft beer bar and some murals. Then this place would be perfect! As many reviews have noted, City Center is the spot for luxury shopping (Burberry, Chanel, Gucci to name a few). For me, its all about the aesthetic against the backdrop of metro center. For about a two block span, there are beautiful walkways, gorgeous overhead displays that reflect the changing seasons, and places to walk through, have a chat with friends or enjoy a treat (I recommend Dolcezza!) In the summer, there is a farmers market and in the winter, there's a Christmas tree and holiday-themed events. If you're not shopping, it's not necessarily an experience destination but still a great stroll nonetheless! The restaurants are expensive, but it matches the overall ambiance. read more

Beautiful place in the heart of the district to visit. Luxurious stores (Burberry, Dior, Louis Vuitton, etc.), amazing eateries, beautiful style and design. It's a fun place to come and just walk through as a visitor, and I imagine a great place to live for DC residents. I had a little time after lunch to just walk through. Back in the day, CityCenterDC was a massive astroturf parking lot where you'd pick up the MegaBus or BoltBus to New York City. Fast forward a few years, it's now the shining gem of DC attracting tourists and convention goers. For locals, it's a beautiful show as you walk by to dinner in Chinatown. The center itself has many three star restaurants and shows too expensive for the average person. One plus for all is they decorate it for each season providing DC's Instagrammers with a feast to photograph! If you must grab a bite, keep it simple and opt for the black sesame gelato at Dolcezza. read more

City Center DC... Mid/High or High/Higher end shopping in DC, depending on your level of frugality. Personally, for me, and my level of cheapness...ahem, I mean frugality, The shopping there is High/Higher end. Don't get me wrong, there are quite a few great places to eat housed within its confines (hey Buttercream), your typically priced coffee shops (namely Peet's, Compass, and Starbucks), but the shopping...I'll have to leave that to the "big dawgs." Outside of a trip to the Louis Vuitton store for my siddity friend (hey boo!), my trips to City Center have mainly been for food, people watching, and checking out whatever is on exhibit, at the heart, near Fruitive. On this visit, the exhibit was the umbrellas. If you're as frugal as I am, stop by City Center, do all the things I mentioned above; you'll have a great time! This H Street corridor is newly constructed with high end shops and restaurants (Louis Vuitton, Dior, Hermes, Fig and Olive, Dolcezza Gelato Coffee, etc.) It's unrecognizable if you haven't visited the NW Chinatown area in a while. Oya is gone, all the surrounding small buildings replaced with tall, modern, beautiful, sleek architecture housing restaurants, retail, and hotels/apartments. The builders have done a good job creating an upscale "city center." I would imagine this is a tourist attraction for the wealthy visitors and a nice night out, place to stroll and people watch for locals. It's got great energy, beautiful surroundings, beautiful people, and a relaxed yet high end feel to it. If I were visiting, I'd at least come have brunch at one of the restaurants, have drink at the bars, or stroll through the alleys, window shopping. Besides street parking there's a parking garage on the same block. read more

Maybe if I had more $$, I would enjoy City Center DC more. It was a lot of high end stores that I couldn't afford. Even the coffee shops were out of my price range. It is definitely kept well and really pretty. Nothing caught my eye except how beautiful it is. It was decorated nicely and cops were patrolling the area. It is very clean and not far from Chinatown (which surprised me cause didn't realize how close they were next to each other). If you have cash to spend, come here, you will love. Unless you're frugal like me, you could walk and get your steps on. 166/2017 read more

Love this area! Tiffany's, Hermès, Jo Malone! They need a good high end restaurant to round it out (with table cloths for the tables!) All the stores have very helpful and friendly staff. They made my twelve year old son feel very welcome as we shopped and browsed. Very nice experience! (Wish all business owners understood that people pay for an experience.) read more

When visiting Washington for the AIPAC Policy Conference, I stayed near City Center and I decided to eat dinner here. First, City Venter is modern with the latest style of fountains, projections on the walls and seasonal decorations. City Center also has a large variety of high-end retail including Burberry, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, David Yurman and Kate Spade. They also have some restaurants here including DGBG, Fig and Olive and Dolcezza. I tried both DGBG and Dolcezza their were above average, but overpriced for what it was. They also had a candy store called Rare Sweets, but it was closed when I passed it. As I stated before, they seasonally decorate CityCenter. I came here in March so it was decorated with a cherry blossom theme. They had an Instagram contest of who could take the best picture of the cherry blossoms. The Special Police were also keeping an eye on the area. They were very friendly. When back in D.C. I will return. read more

Great spot if you're strictly shopping for the high end brands. They are super clean and the workers are so friendly. They have a mix of restaurants and seating for shoppers to rest which was great and convenient! It's really nice to be able to walk around an area with pretty decor, that always makes it more enjoyable. Only thing I would say to improve this shopping center is having more stores but other than that great place to visit. read more

I've only seen the area from the highways that are tree lined. I am quite amazed by how out of touch I was for this area. This mall is quite expansive. The one thing I love about the DMV area is that the malls are still thriving. Not to the point where every single store is filled, but no where near dead mall territory. I had some time to kill before I had to head back home and wanting to pick up some items. Parking here had me. I wasn't sure where would be the best place to park. I ended up in the outdoor lots and didn't even want to mess with the parking structure. As a note, early here means you will encounter a slew of parents with their children in tow. Be careful and mindful in the parking lot as they will be everywhere. The mall had a bit of everything in here. The typical anchors and national chains you would expect to find in a mall. Food court area was jammed with eateries and customers. I opted to not eat here. Would definitely come back. Especially on a lazy day. Good people watching, enough stores to grab whatever you might be thinking of getting, and ample parking.

The food court is always packed with people with many different choices. The restaurants available inside the mall is always interesting. I saw a new Thai takeaway place downstairs near where Claire's used to be. The selections of the store keeps evolving. I had no idea Lululemon moved and has a bigger store now. It's hard to believe that the malls in America are dying when you see how crazy busy it is at the Mall. I couldn't find parking until I parked closer to the old Sears lot. And that was during a weekday well after Christmas and New Year's too. My nickname at work used to be the Mall Rat Haha! I can't wait to discover what new stores are coming and going the next time I return.

I think what happens is that I mindlessly walk through here as I use it as a passageway. I need to start paying attention to what is in here and keep note of it. Basically this is a mall. Like every mall just about everywhere, they are without some businesses. But, I will say this about the DMV area, even with some shops being empty, the malls still know how to draw people in. Even if it is just for the food options. This place has a ton of food options and some of the places in here are the only place in DC to find them, or at least a place where it is fairly easy to get to in order to visit the business. They got the run of the chains you would see in almost any food court. Charleys, Five Guys, Jamba Juice, Moe's, Panda Express, Starbucks, Subway, etc. But there are a lot of mom and pop stands mixed in. You can definitely find something for your lunch or a quick snack. This is one of the only places I have seen a Church's Chicken in the city. It can be a maze walking through here, especially if you arrive via Metro. But like I said, it is a great passageway to get yourself to areas without having to be outside. With the Spy Museum on the one end it's a great place to spend a day in the city. The Wharf not too far either. There are a few shops throughout as well. Mostly open during daylight hours if you need to grab a thing or two. Everything from a post office to a convenience type store. If you are lucky enough to work nearby, I am sure this is busy around the lunchtime hour.

If you're staying at the Hilton, there's a direct connection to it from the hotel. So this place is helpful because it has several fast food options. Nothing to rave about, but when you're traveling access to quick, fast food is important. Many food places either seemed always closed when I went a few times or open at inconsistent times. The place also never seems busy. Kinda ghost town-ish. Panda Express seemed to be the main attraction here. All together tho, it was clean. I think the space has potential to be a more useful shopping space for people.

The Marshmallows are gigantic and should have mixed them in! I got a pack of 6 marshmallows and picked out the flavors - Rainbow, Cookies and Cream, and Toffee Marshmallows. The Racklette sandwich was delicious - you must try it! It was so fascinating to watch the melty swiss cheese get scooped off the big truckle cheese wheel and sandwiches into a soft baguette roll. The Churros with Dulce Leche filling are a must - I always get the every year! Kudos for being a long-time vendor! The Dirty Habit Chalet boozy is a bit gimmicky. I paid $17 for Whiskey and Cider, I wish it was served warm and the service was lukewarm. The air-fried Gnocchi from Carmine's was a complete miss and a total disappointment. And each year I always end up bypassing it because after a long day at work, the last thing I want to do is be jammed in with a bunch of other people going from booth to booth. I finally took the time to visit here and probably picked one of the worst times to visit, during a hockey game. With the influx of people coming into the area for the game and the arena right there, it made navigating to and through a nightmare. The downside here, and it is probably the only downside, are the amounts of other people. They will do one of two things. One, forget about their awareness to where they are. By this I mean that they will forget they are not the only person here at the holiday market. Two, the other people will either push you along, or walk at a glacial pace. Jamming up crosswalks and entrances to the main area. Two things you cannot control and you just have to go with the flow here. I will say it is lively and welcoming. Once you do make it into the stall area you will have to take your time to sift through what there is to offer. From gifts to food, you can find it all here. Live music is a usual draw as well which lends to the magical feel that you are in the middle of a DC street and don't have to worry about a thing. All of the vendors are local, so this is a big shop small venue. Offering you everything you can think of as a gift for a special somebody. Definitely worth a look around the holiday season.

And when I did find a spot I was confused and thought I had to pay to park. I wish it were just easily marked on where to go here. Once parked, I found my way inside and just meandered around the space. Popping in an out of stores as I saw appealing. They really do have a ton of selections here. Huge amount of time can be lost here if you are on a time crunch. I was in no rush, so I wandered around until I had my fill of the space. My suggestion to you. Come early in the morning, you will definitely be able to get in and out of each store you need to with ample time. Less hassle in the parking lot. And less hassle walking between stores. Or, if you are up for it, travel here by Metro.

That's great news because it gets unpleasantly hot and humid in DC this time of the year. I also appreciated how much shades are available in general at this park. This made it easy to walk dogs like cavalier spaniels who tends to do terribly in hot humid weather. Many of the good restaurants such as Fiola Mare is available right from the steps of the park. You can also hop on the DC tour boat and some allows for wining and dining on them. Perhaps the only gripes I have are finding parking and not being able to find dog waste stations easily. No big deal for the most part but mildly annoying nonetheless.
