    DIY dried orange garland class
    Alexandra M.

I have been seeing events pop up from shop made in DC for years now and I never took the opportunity to actually go to one of their events until last night. My friend and I signed up for their DIY dried orange garland making class, which I think was perfect for the fall and right before Thanksgiving, although I am planning on hanging mine up year round. first we were greeted and given time to look around the shop which is filled with Merchandise and art from different local vendors, most of which were all DC Maryland and Virginia themed. I loved the mix of gifts, candles, stickers, art prints, jewelry, and other items in their shop below. The class itself was upstairs and was kind of done at our own pace. We were given some light instructions and all of the materials we need, and kind of left to our own devices to make whatever we wanted to and make whatever pattern with the beads and the orange, the cinnamon sticks that were provided. Most of us ended up going with a variation of the same type of garland, which I think will look absolutely beautiful, hung in my windows as the light shines through. The general manager stopped in a few times to talk to us, and she was helpful, bubbly, and just an overall kind soul. I would love to come back for some other classes and I felt the price for this class was very reasonable and attractive. I think I only paid maybe $20 for the class which I think is great. I think most of their other classes start at $40 and I've heard they have a few locations around DC Maryland, and Virginia so I might see if there's a location closer to me, but the Georgetown area is really nice and I didn't mind coming down for this event, especially for the price of the class. I did end up picking up a few things in their shop below as we were offered 10% off any purchases we made since we attended a class that day so I picked up an art print and a sticker for my car that says cats against cat calling. I would love to come back. The only recommendation I would make is maybe it would be nice to have some coffee or tea offered for the DIY class. All they had was water out and I felt like with the cozy atmosphere it would be nice to have a warm drink to sip while we create.

Service: Friendly staff. I asked about some prices and the staff member seemed a bit unsure. Value: Despite the small size of the show, they had a good variety of locally-made items, which included candles and scents, household items like aprons and napkins, seeds and potters, shirts, and other small knick knacks. For local wares, the prices were not unreasonable. A box of 4 chocolates was $5 and a kitchen towel was $10.

It's always great to support local and small businesses. I'm all for it! This place had nice things but I got to say....it's pricy! I think it definitely caters to a different demographic with the price points that they have laid out, are not on the reasonable side. It's a very clean and organized store though.

Brownie batter date spread. Bought it today and opened it to find mold already growing!

Whew weeee!! This…read morelocation was something to talk about. I have been dying to get in this place for years but always on a tight schedule to get elsewhere. This was a Lion and Tigers and Bears OH MY situation! It's quite crowded in here. Not cluttered but crowded. They have soooo much stuff and it's all in order. This place could be 2-3 floors easy!! I saw all of my fav brands at great prices. They have a huge selection of high-end wear for a great price. They have a huge selection of summer, spring and winter wear. The cosmetics and body care... chef's kiss!! They have everything in every color/ scent/ size!! Cool accessories, luggage galore, etc. I did not take a gander at the shoes as I had a show nearby to attend. I bought 2 gorge blouses and a short sleeve loose fitting denim blue top. I will revisit very soon for some more shopping greatness.

Lots of great "stuff" and finds....if you have the patience to look around and dig for it…read more This Nordstrom Rack is loaded with brand name products, designer clothing, jewelry, household goods and all at decent prices. The only gripe I have specifically with this location.....is that it is waaayyy too cluttered-- overstocked with just stuff everywhere! And, let's talk about organization to make things easy to find....forget it. It sort of reminds me of Filene's Basement (on Connecticut Ave) from back in the day or a " sub high-end" Thrift store. If you park on the street nearby this store, you better load up your parking meter to the max.... Because you're going to need the time to roam around this place. Note: There is no parking lot or garage..... so you don't want your parking meter to expire because we all know parking tickets in DC is like paying rent or the amount of a one night hotel stay. lol Other than this, not a bad shopping experience here. There's something for everyone when it comes to looking for bargain clothing that's from designer labels and semi on trend. One plus I will say about this Nordstrom Rack location, is that they carry a large selection of men's business and casual clothing. This location carries tons of business suits, dress shirts, ties and business casual slacks-pants. I think the reason for this is because this location is centrally located in the downtown DC area and business district that is primarily surrounded by law offices, lobby firms, consulting firms and federal government agencies. You often don't find this at a lot of Nordstrom Rack and bargain clothing, places like Marshall's/TJMaxx around the DMV. There are also tons of men's athletic shoes, casual sneakers, great running shoes and dress shoes. In all, you can't go wrong shopping here. Although, the Pentagon City location is more my speed. This location is not all bad. Lots of good finds and decent customer service. Just have a little patience and time to roam around this treasure trove!

There was a waiting line for the fitting rooms but since I only had one item they let me go in the express room near the dresses. Ended up picking up a denim skirt and although I wouldn't say they're priced cheap, it was fair considering the item has its original tag. I also appreciated that at checkout they checked my ID to make sure it matched the payment method so there is no fraud. Overall. I would come here again if I lived in the area!

I've had mixed experiences as a consigner here--I'd say probably 80% neutral to good. When I first started consigning, I was told that if there was something I *really* didn't want donated, I could let them know. If they decided not to sell that item, I was obligated to come back immediately to get it. I thought that was a nice thing to do, especially since it creates good will with their consigners. One of the last times that I consigned, I explained to the shop-person that there was a piece I wanted to hold onto if they didn't want to sell it, and I was given some eyerolls and told that this is not something Secondi does. They did complete a quick assessment for me, which I appreciated, but the attitude around it made me feel very uncomfortable. It might be helpful if all the shop folks were on the same page about guidelines! Otherwise, Secondi has been around since I was in high school (and probably even before that), so it's a real DC institution. It's one of the most well known consignment shops in DC, and I do think they do a great job curating their wares and they do not sell mass-market/lower quality items.
