My "Go-To" Rag for the Haps in Seattle…read more SITREP Jetting in and out of SeaTac for work assignments keeps my head spinning. But when I want to decompress in a cutting-edge environment, THE STRANGER gets me the information I want to see in relationship to the entire scene at once. SETUP Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my iPhone. But what I've discovered is a "weakness" with our tech - or maybe an "insufficiency" - be it iPhones or laptops, tablets, what have you: these cool little devices are great at honing on more specific details of information when you already have a general idea of what you want to do. For example, you know what movie you want to see (maybe "Wrath of the Titans", etc.) and so you can do a quick search on the iPhone and get the 411. Or you might know that Tango has a great happy hour with inexpensive drinks and munchies on Tuesdays going on and you want to confirm these specials, and so you jump on the iPad and get the 411. THE RANDOM But what if you really just want to "see" what random stuff is out there? Expose yourself to the bills and the ads and the what not: "What bands are playing?" Tonight? Tomorrow? "What venues are DJ or Band or Dancing or all combined?" All in a grid matrix on a sheet of paper so you can compare (EASILY) or contrast (EASILY) all the cover charges, the location-neighborhoods? Oh, what's this? A random ad for a cool burlesque night at Noc Noc is going on for Thursday. Oh, what's this? Stumbling Monk is doing a special game night. THE WEAKNESS With my tech, it's not easy for the eye to capture than more than the little "streaming" bursts that are on my little iPhone screen, or even on a tablet. However, with the paper, I can look at a grid-matrix all at once - left-to-right, with my peripheral vision catching just as much as my focus. And until we get to the level of holographic projections (ie. the movie MINORITY REPORT) where we can turn pages of light with our fingers, I think the tech will still be smart, but very truncated and very limited. If I can make this make any sense there is an relevant adage that states, "You don't know, what you don't know." So if you don't enough to ask for information on bands playing in Pioneer square, you aren't going to remember to ask a search in your iPhone to get information on bands playing in Pioneer Square. But if you eye catches the ad placed by Central Saloon that gives the bands for the next 3 days, then you HAVE that information. Bottom Line: for all the tech I have accumulated and use regularly, I STILL find that there sometimes just is not a replacement-tech for the simple act of scanning and turning the pages of a news rag. THE LOWDOWN There are just some things that are tech can not encompass "randomly" that will get my attention as easily as turning the pages of a rag. And so that's why I still rely on THE STRANGER, and why it is still one off the best offerings for the truly random pieces of information that I still enjoy having "my eyes scan over" since I may not always know to search for something specifically on my tech.

Sad to say the only thing of interest these days is "Ombudsman" A. Birch Steen's snarky column on the Table of Contents page. And maybe once in a while David Schmader prints an amusing "Hot Tip" in Last Days. But he's like a Pavlovian dog. Anytime Hizzoner Mayor 5-Cents proposes something idiotic (like say a 20 cent fee on bags or build a tunnel), Schmader is there applauding wildly. He's a loyal soldier on Team Nickels. No longer (well, at least the last two weeks) are Letters to the Editor printed in the paper version. And pretty much, the movie times have disappeared too. And what happened to Lloyd Dangle's "Troubletown" comic strip? The Mercury in Portland still prints it. Miss Matisse and Adrian Ryan's columns have vanished too. And so has Charles Mudede's Police Beat. The Stranger is a shell of its former self. Borrrrrring!

They allow themselves to be weaponized against individuals targeted by a ringleader of a group of bullies to harass women who are not evangelical enough, white enough, straight enough, or obedient enough. The editor and writer of most articles in the Snohomish Tribune paper does both jobs inadequately. His poor choices open up himself and his publisher to legal challenges.

I needed a black-and-white photo printed, one I took of my 1902 house in Seattle - my plan is to…read moreadd a current photo of the house to the other 3 that I received from the King County records office when I bought the house in 1998 - they provided 3, one from 1922, one from 1956, one from 1965... the basic shape of the house is the same except for siding type (went from shiplap to asbestos siding) (and the roof pitch was eventually lowered) but the basic shape and footprint of it yet remains despite all of the changes I made to it over the years. Within 1 day Nam Nguyen had a perfect black-and-white print from a photo I emailed to him - and here's the kicker, he didn't charge me for it! Said because we're neighbors (I work on the same block as his shop) it was on the house. And the photo print in black and white is perfect. So rare to meet someone like him, someone who actually listens and is interested and does his best to make someone happy.

We have High Point Commons Park right across the street...terrific views..lots of windows...lots of greenery and trees! We have a service coordinator that helps you like no other. She is always having guests speakers come in with interesting topics..she also has a place come to us to keep us up to date on vaccinations..Of course you have your goofy charectars always joking around or clutching their heart making you laugh...we have all the usual like most apts the parking war over who HAS to have certain spots only in unassigned parking! But our trash is picked up daily and they maintain the premises fantastically..good place to live independently in your older age

I am ecstatic about my move, my son was able to meet with the landlord to do a video walk-through as I was at that time in Lacey Washington.... the landlord/management team here are awesome!!! they are all about the resident and their well being, social services and whatever else they can help with..... plus nice friendly maintenance and neighbors..... I'm gonna post some pictures, I was able to get some better ones than what I actually saw before I sent you the walk-through... It was a little bit smaller than my HD, smidge and smaller in the bedroom and the living room area-it is actually bigger in the bathroom and the kitchen is way larger..... In the kitchen instead of being a one person with a wall with a hole in the middle, there is no wall it's almost like an open concept.... The landlady had mentioned that some other people had a queen bed so she thought it would be no problem for my queen bed-now my bed is unusual because it's being 80 x 60, more like 95 x 70......... my son measured it with the tape before I came here and I was worried when I first looked at the room-thank the Lord bless me as you will see the bed fits the one part of my walk-through closet doesn't have a water heater like my other place so I could put my dresser there and I mounted my TV!!!!!! When I got here, I was over the moon when I confirmed it was no carpet it had all been redone the cabinets and their appliances, the bathroom, the kitchen etc. I felt like I won the lottery, and after meeting the management team here, it doubled that feeling....... I also found out that the West Food bank comes once a week on Wednesday like clockwork and set up little area with the food that they have, and you're able to say yes please or no thank you and I have to worry about how to get it back to somebody if you don't want the item like I had in Lacey!!! Don't get me wrong, we had where they brought the food once a month and a big giant box to your front door-but it's nice not to have to worry about it as you want or not how to get back downstairs!!! And have a beautiful view of trees I can actually see the front door of the building so when my kids show up I know lol.... I want to give a shout out to the management team here at Providence Elizabeth and Providence Elizabeth/HUD for everything that they've done for me!!!!! I've only been here since October 19th, 2024.. However, I recently tried to order a product for my business and due to the specificity of the item needed per corporate rules, the signage needed to look a certain way. I asked for an edit and was sent the same image that I received the first time. MMP charges $80 for every round of edits after the first request, and I let them know that I appreciated their time but since the item had to have a specific look I was going to go through a different vendor. They wrote back saying that I wasted their time and never to order from them again. I was pretty surprised because I don't know of anyone that is going to pay for products that they Know are either not what they need, or in my case, unsuitable for use and lead to fines and fees from my company. I also don't know why I would add $80 over and over to my tab for rounds of edits, when they could simply attempt to get it right the first few times. I am taking their advice and will never use them again due to their absolute garbage attitude.

Orders are super easy to place, proofs are sent quickly and product is done perfect... except when I approved a proof with the wrong phone, TWICE! To be clear, this as 100% all my fault.
