what more could you (or your pet!) want than loving people to care for your dogs in a safe, controlled, monitored environment? my dog has been going to the doghouse for a few years now and when i say javier's name she's almost out the door and in the car! both he and carol show remarkable caring and attention to other people's pets, making you wonder if they haven't secretly adopted your animal while you were away at work :) from all day attention to dog birthday parties, this is a place you can bring your best friend and rest assured they are in the best hands. 2 paws up! read more

My Dog loved playing at the Doghouse! I wish I still lived in West Seattle. My dog would be so excited to go to daycare everyday and totally wiped out when I picked her up. One of the best things is the 'no barking' rule of the Doghouse. My dog never barked much to begin with but since going to other daycares which are filled with deafening barking - she now barks - and has picked up other bad habits from other daycares. Carol takes great care to ensure all the dogs are safe and happy. From necessities like wood chips (not gravel like some), turned over regularly and misters for the super hot days to things that are just plain fun, like dog birthday parties. One of the cleanest, friendliest dog daycares around. I miss being able to send my pup there. It's also less expensive than a lot - and for a better quality of care!? Holy cow! I was desperate to try this type of service for Max, our newly adopted 5 month old chocolate lab. He is such a love and so sweet but clearly loves us too much and suffers from separation anxiety. We felt horrible leaving him crated all day while we were at work, as Max is too "curious" and young to be left on his own in the house with expected good behavior. I work about 10 mins away from home and felt so guilty about crating him for 8 hours that I would drive home daily at lunch to take him out, only to be sadden when he whined and barked when I had to put him back in to return to work. This also was impacting my ability at work as well. Max was a ball of energy when we got home and a bit of a pain in the butt as well due to his lack of exercise during the day. Stress and frustration of course ensued until I stumbled across Carol and Javier's West Seattle Doghouse through the internet. I heard stories of other dog daycares where they convert a warehouse into a free for all for dogs to constantly bark, become over-stimulated and having no regards to instilling good behaviors in your pups. The West Seattle Doghouse is in a private home, in a very nice residential neighborhood. You wouldn't even know there is a dog daycare there! Carol and Javier are wonderful caretakers who provide a warm and inviting enviroment for your dog. They have a big fenced yard full of clean wood chips to run and play in, porches and tents to hide from the rain (or the sun, when it exists around here!), sprinklers to run through in the summer... and people who CARE about your little kid with fur. Max now has attended 5 days and no longer looks back at me nervous to leave me. He loves it. Carol sends pictures every day of him to me so I can see how much fun he's having. I am serious when I say I have a different dog due to this experience. He is fantastic now at home and mostly exhausted which is so nice, because both of his parents are just as exhausted after our long days at work! Do not make the mistake to try another daycare out. SO GREAT! My dog is a two year old, sassy, lab/miniature poodle cross. She got kicked out of Camp Crockett in 30 minutes because she snapped at another dog. I was HORRIFIED that they just kicked her to the curb without giving her a true chance to adjust. West Seattle Doghouse Daycare has been EVERYTHING opposite that experience. First off, it's small. It's owner, Carol, is SO responsive and kind. Right off the bat she let me know that there was a wait list and we would be placed on it. Lucky for us, they had someone who was moving out of state about 6 weeks after we were placed on it. I got impatient and took my dog to Stella Ruffingtons in the meantime. They treated her great there, but she didn't really like it. There were a lot of dogs there which was a bit overwhelming. At WS Doghouse, they slowly introduced her into the pack. She met each dog individually and they were really patient with my dog. My dog gets nervous and freaks out at times, but Carol could tell she wasn't aggressive, just nervous! I love that about Carol! She's a true expert! The service you are provided here is INCREDIBLE! Luna LOVES going there. We are more than happy to be a part of the pack. Love the doghouse!!! Carol and Javier take really good care of my boxer, Zeke!! I drop him off in the morning and pick him up on the way home from work. He gets to play all day in a clean, safe environment with lots of other dogs. No kennel, no pen!! He is exhauted when he gets home which is great for him and great for me!! Carol also e mails me pictures during the day so I can see what's going on with my boy!! I highly recommend Carol and Javier!! Great people, great doghouse!! read more

For the past 6 years, our chocolate lab Max has spent each workday morning exuberantly (and impatiently) awaiting his arrival at West Seattle Doghouse Daycare. He would surely rate his experience at 5 stars, but as he's awful at typing I will try my best to write the review on his behalf: Genuinely dog-friendly "D'uh", you might say, but this is not necessarily a given at any dog-care establishment. Carol & Javier clearly love dogs and as such take great care of those under their supervision. The dogs also have great digs: a spacious, open air, cedar chip covered space in which to roam around and interact. Professional and Sensible Carol has a background in veterinary practice and this shows in how the place is run: - Dogs in attendance undergo routine medical screenings to ensure "the pack" remains healthy. - The play area is monitored in person as well as with video surveillance to ensure the dogs keep the order. The results speak for themselves: our dog is always happy to arrive, and always happy when he comes home. In 6 years, he's come home neither with illness nor anything resembling more than a playful scratch. Highly recommended. read more

The Doghouse is one of the best deals in town. It is clean, inviting, friendly and does not have cages or cement or loud barking or horrible smells, like some of the more industrial style dog daycares. The cost is about the same that you would pay for a dog walker, but you get so much more. Carol truly loves dogs and treats all of the pack like her own. What I particularly apprecated about Carol is that, as a new "mom" I left my puppy at the Doghouse with some trepidation. I have a little dog who was very shy, so I worried about leaving him at a daycare, since he was used to being with me all day. However, I was starting a new job and knew he wouldn't do well being left home alone for so long. Given my separation anxiety, it was such a boost when Carol sent me an email that first day with a picture of my dog playing with another dog and clearly having a wonderful time! Guilt gone! I am now working out of my home, so I don't take my dog to the Doghouse on a regular basis any longer. However, when I do, he is always very happy to go and I am very happy to know he is safe and in good hands. read more

Moving to Seattle one week into a new job was crazy! I needed to find an excellent dog daycare for my recently rescued, somewhat anxious, barky dachshund AND FAST! As soon as I spoke on the phone to Carol, I felt that the Doghouse would be a good place, and after checking out another place, I felt doubly so. She took my dog and I sight unseen (but with the appropriate paperwork), and with all the other new routines to set up, this was one I no longer needed to worry about. My schnoodle, Rocky, has been going to the WS Doghouse since 2003. I love the home environment and the care Carol gives the dogs. She treats each of them as "one of her own" so I never worry when Rocky is in her care. He still wags his tail as we walk into the door in the morning and is pleasantly tired when I bring him home at the end of the day. My pug, Oliver, has been going to West Seattle Doghouse for almost four years now; he loves it and I do too. I feel very confident when I drop Oliver off that he will be in good hands and have a lot of fun. Carol and Javier give all the dogs personalized care, and really get to know them, making sure that they have compatible playmates. Oliver usually falls asleep on the way home, and I only live about a mile away, so I know that he gets plenty of exercise! read more
