Everyone was nice at the closing; however, they were clearly not ready for us. We had to wait to get the paperwork in the first place. They didn't have the keys there for us. Had to wait an additional 1/2 hour for them to print out the refund check for the overpayment. I had a spot hero parking spot for 2 and a half hours. I almost went over the time. I have had other closings that lasted a half hour. I don't believe in complaining and wouldn't have if my refund check had cleared at the bank. I would have chalked it up to a bad day for them and not written this. However, the closing was held on Friday of the previous week, it is now Thursday of the next week. Almost, a whole week has gone by and the overpayment check still has no funds. My down payment cleared way before the closing but I can't cash my overpayment. I don't know who asked for this title company but I will make sure I don't close with them in the future. read more

Closed on April 7th with Ed as the closer. On June 21st I got a letter from my mortgage company stating I do not have insurance on my house! Called and called and called citywide title and no answer. We closed at the office on Milwaukee Ave in Chicago but I called the Jackson one also. After getting a hold of the closer I was advised that the insurance check was sent but they don't keep a copy of the checks disbursed in your file. (It is a three part check) Odd? Very much so! So now I found out there is ZERO coverage on my house for the past 2+ months bc the insurance company hasn't gotten a check from citywide Title... I got coverage myself (again) and paid another year premium again out of MY pocket. Now to get to the bottom of this... I spoke with Mike who advised he is the VP of operations. He was very arrogant and kept asking for the file number when the only question I asked was "does citywide title keep a copy of the checks disbursed in each file?" After much sidestepping on his part, I gave him my file number. I also advised him that I do understand human error BUT he stated that he can't believe that anyone who works under him would not mail a check. (There is that arrogance again). Mike also told me that their accounts are balanced quarterly so there was no way to catch the check not being cashed. I would highly recommend to stay away from this business... Closing itself went fine, but that's the only reason they get two stars. My closing was done at 12pm on Monday, but they didn't clear the check for deposit until 10am Tuesday. I called and left two messages on Monday afternoon to find out when the check would be approved, and no one called back. Every time I called I got the same automated message and then a voicemail box. No one answered the phone until 9am, and when I told them the issue they said they'd call back 20 minutes later. 45 minutes later I called them and they told me everything was taken care of. Don't deal with them unless you're willing to deal with not being able to contact them with questions. read more

Yes, they hold on to funds for about a day for the checks that they write at closing. Also, they will not respond to a simple question about how much a certain title fee should be according to their fee schedule based on a sale price of $X. Could that mean each of their attorney/agents just make up the fees as they go along, or split out the fees, or overcompensate one fee for another, however they deem necessary? It is impossible to verify since they will not provide a fee schedule to anyone. Chicago Title does provide a fee schedule if requested. Why hide such information? read more

Don't ever use this title company. I sold a property and the attorney brought Citywide Title into the mix, our closing was on Tue, its Thu and we have yet to see the money come through. Absolutely unorganized, unprofessional people from top to bottom, no one knows what they are doing. They blame their bank, their bank blames the buyer, the money is sitting in the bank and they are not disbursing. And when we attempt to speak with them they point to everyone else. Buyer Beware!!! Stay away from this company! I went to Citywide Title for the closing on my home. This organization did not provide professional or complete service but I was charged over $3000 for their services. I was repeatedly treated unprofessionally by staff. The service was supposed to provide complete and professional title services but they did not. I was not informed of the time of the closing or the process by which I make payment and after reading an email indicating the closing was to be the following day I had to contact them for the time and payment information. They did not even return my lawyers calls to schedule this closing and in turn he was not present. They also claimed I was not prepared for this closing by saying I did not have the appropriate documentation, however when I called my lender to investigate this claim I was informed that she personally spoke to the staff member and sent an email at 2:30 the previous day which contained the correct documentation. They repeatedly berated me in front of my daughter and were very rude the entire time I was there. This particular staff member would not accept a document that was prepared by my attorney and we ended up doing a dry closing. I was not informed the following day whether we had completed the closing or not. I asked for a number for their corporate offices to file a complaint however I have not had anyone return a call to me as of yet. It has been 3 days since this horrific event read more

I had this company do a deed back in 2006. Everything seemed Ok till I went to refinance. I just found out this company took my husband and I off the title to our house of 28 years. The persons who name was put on is now deceased. I have all kinds of legal battles because of this problem. They will not answer my calls. If you had them do anything for you, please double check your papers. read more
