This place is soooooo busy, but it's worth the wait. We came here on a Sunday night around 9:30 and were quoted a 30-40 minute wait. Shirley at the hostess stand does an amazing job with crowd control. She's super friendly even when there's a massive crowd waiting. You can grab a drink at the bar and wait outside, but honestly save your room for the food. The restaurant itself is pretty big. There's a nice bar when you first walk in. It can get pretty crowded though, because people tend to wait in that same area. The restaurant has 2 levels, plus an outdoor seating area in the plaza. The waiters here work so hard to get the food out quickly. We ordered a bunch of tapas. We were disappointed that the pulpo and scallops mondadito were sold out, but the razor clams and cockles made up for it. The seafood is super fresh and all you need is a squeeze of lemon over the top. The stars of the show were the tortilla espanol, foie and tenderloin and the desserts. We tried the Cabreos eggs and could've gone without it. We ended up ordering 4 desserts and they were all yummy. Plus, 4 desserts came out to about 12 euros!? That's the price of 1 dessert in some places in NYC. Everything on the menu is reasonably priced. With all the food we ordered, 4 desserts, a glass of wine, a glass of beer and 2 water, our bill came out to 90 euros. We got the razor claims: amazing like usual very flavorful and a must try when you come to Spain I would sayy! Seafood sampler: this came with anchovies: not as tasty as other places but tasted better with the pepper that came in the plate. Brochettes: filled with pork, not a fan needed some sauce to bring out more flavor. Prawns: these were so little but had so much flavor we ordered another skewer of this because it was so good! We stayed nearby and there was a huge wait outside of the restaurant every. single. day. Well.. now we can see why. We had a late lunch on a Sunday and got seated without a wait. Our favorite dishes were the garlic shrimp (not pictured), lobster rice and the fried eggplant with honey. We came to Cuitat Comtal twice before leaving Barcelona and would've came back a third time if we had more days. Some of the best tapas I've had were from here. Everything from the cod with honey aoili, paella, Jamon Iberico with bread to the patatas bravas and the worlds BEST bread pudding. They also have seared foie Gras with tenderloin steak which is a must!! We also ordered mussels, shrimp, razor clams and octopus but these weren't the highlights. These were ok but I wanted more flavor out of these dishes but they were served mostly steamed with a tinge or lemon :( I'm going to miss this place a lot. The second time we came here, they didn't have paella which was odd. They said they don't make it everyday so I didn't get my paella fix at the end of our trip :( Prepare for a wait, at least 20-30 minutes which is nothing compared to any restaurant in SF! One thing to note is that the service is SLOW. I mean, you'll wait 10 minutes for water after you're seated. You'll need to flag someone down for almost everything including water, to order and to pay. I came here for a quick solo dinner as a friend recommended it, and I definitely enjoyed my meal here! I got the Fried Hot Green Padron Peppers which were shishitos and only okay in my opinion. But their Pan Con Tomate and Codfish with Honey Aioli were delicious. The aioli is more of a whipped garlic mousse and pairs very well with the cod. Very jokey with their customers (maybe cause it was past midnight at this point and not overly crowded) and just a friendly bunch all around. I just had to order them as EVERYTIME I watch the food network shows and their in Spain the pros always go with anchovies. Well I guess I'm no pro.
