Quite expensive. About 25-45% more than three other nursery's we visited in Tucson. Beautiful plants, though. No one was available to help us. Just cashiers and non-english gardeners even though this was a Saturday. No public restroom. I was directed to a nearby Quick Mart! I just think if you're open for business and willing to take folks' money, there should be a place to go. Yes, there is covid but the other 3 nurseries had open restrooms. We were in the market for a large Palo Verde and large desert Willow so they lost a big sale. We were able to find exactly what we wanted for much less at Green Things. read more

What a lovely place, even (especially?) on a rainy day * The atmosphere was lovely and very open. A nice, leisurely stroll around the nursery takes about an hour. * So many plants to choose from! Plenty of cactus, various trees, and lots of flowering bushes. This is an beautiful nursery with an extremely helpful staff! It is a great place to go to for gifts and/or gift cards for family, friends, teachers, etc. They even have animals to see and little photo op areas for children to stay entertained while you look around. Hubby has decided he wants to be a farmer this summer. We've hit lots of nurseries all over town, looking for plants, seeds, soil, etc. Civano was the only place where we found this Big Bag Planter. It's a great big, raised bed planter that's incredibly easy to set up. But I'm not here to tell you about that...get one if you're looking to do that kind of planting. (It takes A LOT of soil!) The staff at Civano was really helpful when we were asking about plants and very friendly when they could tell I wasn't gardening savvy. I found a tree with a hummingbird sitting on a nest with eggs in it. Asked someone there what they do in that situation. Well, they put that tree on hold and don't sell it until those eggs hatch and the babies fly away. I was happy to hear that and to see the hold sticker go on the tree. It's nice to see that local birds are more cared for than a sale! We've already been back to shop for more things for hubby's crops. read more

Went to Civano Nursery to get a gift card. Staff was very friendly and made the transaction super easy. They also asked who the recipient of the gift card would be so they could put it in their system Incase the gift card gets lost. One of my favorite nurseries in town. They have a pretty good selection of everything, reasonably priced, and the staff are great!

We enjoy taking the whole family to the nursery. We have 3 kids under 6 and they love the coy fish pond, animals, dinosaur statues, and 2 playgrounds. I appreciate the shaded play area, which is a nice way for all of us to get out of the sun! The plants/flowers I purchased have survived well at home and the staff is knowledgeable on their products and inventory. read more

My wife and I have been here a few times, looking for ways to spruce up our backyard. Their assortment of trees is unbelievable; Wide ranges of annuals, perennials, and herbs. The staff is very friendly and will tell you everything they know. The only real reason I can't give this place 5 stars is because I found it difficult to track down staff members on several occasions. I'm by no means well verse in botany, so I need advice a lot. It slowed our experiences quite a bit trying to track people down for help. read more

We have used all of the larger nurseries in Tucson over the last 3 years and have found that Civano is the best. Their plants are healthy and last as long as you take care of them. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and always have the answer. We even had them move fruit trees, and potted plants across town to a new house we bought, flawless and very reasonably priced. I seriously want to reach out and high five the Civano Nursery. It is right off of Houghton nestled in the charming Civano neighborhood (did you know this neighborhood has a cafe, an inn, a fitness studio and hair studio?) Civano is all outdoors and it is pretty huge! I was definitely not expecting to see resident goats, chickens and a huge desert tortoise named Bam Bam. Mother Nature sure is shining her love here with plants, trees, hummingbirds, butterflies, lizards and I even saw a jack rabbit! Tons of mesquite, flowering, nut and citrus trees. Tiny baby cacti to towering cacti. Everything is clearly labeled. Nice big carts to wheel your purchases around. They have sales, clearance and a shoppers program. I thought it was incredibly thoughtful to see a children's play area and a fairyland. They even make fairy gardens. Really, this place was magical. What really got me was the hanging vertical living succulent art that I have been dreaming of online for years. I thought their prices were very affordable. They stock native seeds, organic fertilizers made of worm casings and the hot off the press Edible Baja Arizona magazine. Wind chimes, whimsical bird houses, garden art and sculptures are at every turn. They even let me pre-purchase a gianormus planter full of cacti (which was a clearance steal), I just couldn't move the monster. Staff was full of great advice too! I can tell, I am going to be the duchess of this in no time flat, my love runs that deep. read more

I usually don't do reviews, but this place is great. I was looking for a "gopher plant" to keep the ground squirrels out of my backyard. I had been wanting to start a garden for sometime now and was told to get this plant by my dad. I went to Home Depot and they were clueless-with the exception of one staff member, and had actually referred me to Civano. Civano knew exactly what I was looking for. The staff is great and the selection is phenomenal. I can't wait to go back and get my spring plants for next year. The plants I have recently planted in my first garden are doing wonderful. read more

If we could select 0, we would. My fiancé recently bought two white pots with raised male and female faces. The pots were in an area of the garden that any reasonable person would take to mean they were capable of being outside. However, within a few weeks of exposure, the color on one pot stated falling off. Evidently, it was just paint on an otherwise fired pot. These 8" pots were over $40 each and honestly, even if painted on, it should have lasted much longer. When we contacted them, there were several phone calls and the "manager" was never around. And the rude behavior was stunning Today my fiancé took the pots down to show them and they asked about the card they were charged to. She called me and I provided the last 4 digits as requested. But then that wasn't enough. 10 minutes later she called back. Now they needed the entire card number, the expiry date and the code. I'm thinking they must need all this to tender a partial refund. NOPE! I couldn't have been more wrong. After an additional 45 minutes of standing around in the sun waiting for the manager who was supposed to be back in 10 minutes at the start of all of this, AND a comment that implied she was a liar, possibly having purchased it elsewhere, my fiancé decided she'd had enough. The rude behavior, lies and generally poor attitude is simply astounding, this from a place that says things like "welcome to our family" and "I'm your neighbor" Who needs neighbors and family like them?! We've spent several thousand dollars with them in the past but will not do any more business with them. Ever. Do not spend your hard-earned money with this business! read more

They planned and planted our yard last summer. One plant died immediately. Still hasn't been replaced. Even though we requested cold hardy plants, many died during the freeze last winter. No one will talk to us, or answer e-mails. I wouldn't waste my money here. After this was posted, we heard from Civano, they replaced all the affected plants with others that have a better frost tolerance. And tossed in a bag of cactus mix for my indoor Christmas cactus. This nursery is a gift to the east side Tucson communities. It is reasonably priced, quite complete in a wide selection of plantings and related items, a treat to explore. And its operations are based on customer service. I have a disability that makes its crushed stone walkways difficult for me to navigate. The Civano team makes that unnecessary, as they bring samples of a wide selection of plantings to me to inspect and choose from. It's all done naturally, and with a smile. I can bounce ideas off team members, and my questions are always answered knowledgeably. My only suggestion to the owners? Open much earlier in the summertime heat with early morning to mid-afternoon hours, to cut through the hottest times of the day. read more

No, don't use this inappropriate, rude staff, over priced, excuse of a nursery. I have spent way too much money here for sick plants. The sales people are positivity are rude. Better options in Tucson. This family owned business will continue to go down due to poor product, poor customer service, poor knowledge of product. Don't waste money here. Go to B&B or Mesquite and get what you want and need. If Civano wants to play with me , then I say bring it. Retail is about customer product and service. Can't make me happy so you bully me. Wow. I love this place! They have a great selection of...... everything. Succulents, fruit trees, shade trees, shrubs, yard art, seeds. We come here all the time to look at their beautiful displays and get ideas for our yard. It feels more like a theme park than a nursery. There are places for our kids to play while we shop. Without a doubt my favorite nursery in the Tucson area! Not only are the plants stunning but the staff are incredibly knowledgeable and go out of their way to be helpful and make sure that you are successful in your gardening. Being new to gardening in the southwest, they helped me navigate all of the gardening differences. They have delivered and planted trees for us as well, always doing amazing work!
