This was the best fun I've had in a loooooong time! My nephew came for a visit and I wanted to do something different! I asked a friend who had recently gone to Civil Axe Throwing about her experience and she said it was a "must do!" So, off to Civil Axe Throwing we went. We reserved our times online and upon entering, the staff was very friendly, got us checked in, explained instructions thoroughly and 'threw' us on our way! LOL My nephew, a friend and I went and really enjoyed ourselves. It was a lot of fun! My nephew is slick competitive, so he didn't want to stop until he hit that bullseye! LOL We ended up throwing against another group and that made it more fun! I would definitely recommend this as a "must see" Memphis attraction. Check in was quick and easy using QRcodes Music and energy in the building added to the good experience from DJ Ayo. The food was good , there were even an option for vegans, which is always a win for me. Great place to let our some frustration. They are wheelchair accessible, clean, and nice workers. My favorite part of the experience was the new throwing technique. Had a great girls night out. Music was fun and the atmosphere is fun. You rent a lane for an hour. However after about 30-45 minutes, it is old and time to do something else. I recommend everyone try this at least once but not sure how much fun it would be to go back. read more

Went with a group of friends for the first time. Pretty cool Concept but could have been done better. The axes were in bad shape. The rubber handles were damaged really bad. In fact one had athletic ape on it and was curved. When we asked an employee about getting a new one he said "its not in the budget". Was he kidding?? Also our boards were extremely well used. (TLDR: you just lost a customer) 'Twas the night before Thursday, and all through the town, people with reservations were axe throwing, even the clowns. We asked the axe-tender, "Can we throw here, oh please?" He huffed, he puffed, come back in an hour, we're busy you see!" "Oh, but sir, shall we make reservations? Or should we come back after conservations?" He responded very quickly. "It's no trouble, I swear! Once the lanes have cleared there will be spots enough to share!" We watched people fight like jedis all the next hour... We returned to Axe Bar at 9:30 to show some true power. The empty axe lanes were calling our name as no one was there and had all finished their game. We confirmed that the games closed at 11 We were struck down from our axe heaven Approached The young quiet lad with a soft tone. He whispered to us and said he wanted to go home. It was only 930 at this point in time. We looked confused as his story would not rhyme. His tone had changed, and they were now closing. But we could see it in his eyes that he was simply moseying. We left disappointed with toes still in tact. We thought our night was over and that was a fact. We walked out the bar some time down the road only to look through the window and see two blokes tossing an axe load. We write this review driving back to Southaven, and maybe people from civil axe throwing could send us a raven. The scroll could read all simple and clear, that we can come back and toss for free without any fear. (My friends and I were very excited to try out Civil Axe Throwing. After researching online, we found out that walk-ins were welcomed, as per the attached photo. As we were unsure when dinner would be over, we opted to not make a reservation and instead to wait at Rec Room until lanes opened up. Upon arrival, we talked with the attendant who stated the lanes were full [as we anticipated] but that we could wait at Rec Room for an hour and then once we came back there would likely be a lane open. We happily agreed, and I inquired specifically if it would be a good idea to make a reservation or just show back up in an hour. He informed me if didn't matter either way but I could make a reserve ration if I really wanted to. To save on data, I did not do this. We then went to rec room [had a fantastic time, BTW], and returned at the suggested hour. Upon return, the same exact attendant acted surprised to see us and asked "do you have a reservation?" I told him that I hadn't made one as he himself said it wasn't necessary and one of my friends mentioned as well again that online it said walk ins were welcome and they closed at 11. He still shut us down and said they were closed for the night. As we left the building and headed towards our car, we saw through the window two people were throwing axes. I am unsure if they worked there, however either way I am very saddened by the experience as I had high expectations and was looking forward to trying this out. Be weary if you plan on patronizing this establishment as the online rules do not seem to be strict. Needless to say, you just lost a customer. read more

An enjoyable experience, but definitely lacking. It's not up to par with similar facilities in other cities. The staff is mostly high school aged students who stay on their phone instead of paying attention to patrons. Most other establishments will have have worker coach you, keep score on contests, and facilitate your experience. This group was uninterested and inattentive. read more
