Found this place browsing restaurants near assembly row. The food was pretty good and the drink I had was yummy. The restaurant itself was very slow, must have been the in between time. The service was ok- I noticed someone coming in to eat on their day off and 2 of the people working going to sit with him. I sat for awhile without a drink. I had to tell the bartender (who was not waiting on me) that I would like a new drink (after I heard him openly complaining about a couple who had just left who had not left him a 20% tip). My 5 year old and I were having a conversation with my server about coming home from vacationing in Miami Beach when she started telling us about the last time she went her and her friend were out til 7am at the strip club and literally said in front of my child "I was like b*tch I need sleep!" After 2 drinks, the shrimp appetizer, my salad with salmon & kids chicken it was $92- a tad over priced especially for the poor service that was happening all around me. Whoever the chef is, it feels his or her menu is created to "sound" great and profit as much as possible. Theres been no regard for taste. Came here with a friend on a weeknight for the progressive happy hour (4-6pm). The sliders are SO good, and the portions are reasonable. We didn't leave hungry! We had a phenomenal time sitting at the bar. Tabitha was the cocktail making Queen (Float Like a Butterfly was delicious) with a smile on her face the whole time we were there, and it was like she was part of the fun, friendly and chic ambiance. I don't want to give this place a low rating, exactly, because they did a lot of things very well. We went for shareable plates, and had the pear salad, the sliders, and the bakers goat cheese. The salad was fine, and the other two were really quite good, and not out of the cookie cutter mold you sometimes get around Cambridge and Somerville. I left 2/3 of my drink on the table. Not a great base spirit, and the fruit syrups were kind of mushy in flavor. My partner really liked his drink, though, so it may just be a bit or miss menu. Where it loses stars for me, though, is the noise. I spent probably half the meal staring around the restaurant trying to figure out how on earth they could possibly get it that loud. I have never been in a louder restaurant. I have been to quieter concerts. I could not hear my partner, 14 inches from my ears, without shouting. It was mindblowing. We gave up on talking pretty quickly and only really communicated via occasional grins when someone near us screamed something a little amusing. I mean, maybe I'd come back for a 5pm seating? *update. We were finally able to go back here when they were open. I was a bit disappointed. I want to love this place. I really do... The menu sounds utterly fantastic on paper, but on plate it drifts from expectation. -The angry butcher; a steak sandwhich that sounds fantastic but I found the meat to be very chewy. My jaw hurt by the end of the sandwich. The flavor was there but the meat was tough -Short rib tacos; they were ok. nothing to write home about, but not terrible. There was zero presentation. Its just two tacos on a very large empty plate. They were also a bit bland. the red onion had no flavor and the shortrib was a tad dry :( --the staple "Mac and cheeese donut"; I had flashback to "cheese wiz" being poured onto this as it never congealed at any point throughout the night as cheese should do. Its more of a cheese sauce than "just cheese" so be aware. Also the addition of BBQ sauce turned us off , this could be a personal preference. We simply think this ruined the dish as we tried to eat around it. I regret this one and wish we tried the Arancini. ---Prosciutto Flatbread; My biggest disappointment by far was the Prosciutto Flatbread. You should NEVER cook prosciutto but thats what they did. The prosciutto on this flatbread should be added AFTER cooking. It also does not go well with tomato sauce. The salts of prosciutto conflicts with the sweetness of the tomato sauce. This should be a white flatbread, no sauce (if thats what you could call this sauce.. it was reminiscent of Elios or tomato sauce on frozen pizza) .... and NEVER cook prosciutto. Overall it just failed for me. I really hope they take my advice and alter this flatbread. I have no idea what they were thinking here +The ambience is great, the restaurant has an awesome vibe, great decor and overall cool feel. +The waitstaff were fantastic and friendly but it was obvious they are new and nervous. I trust the newbies confidence will grow . -The acoustics could use some work. Some dampers on the ceiling. Its a very very loud restaurant. In the business thats by design in certain places to move you out as fast as possible to open up tables for more customers. The louder it is the more likely you are to drink, eat and leave, rather than stick around and take up room. This is not that type of restaurant though, so toning down the sound would be nice but doubtful. read more

My (now) fiancé and I met working at American Fresh Brewhouse in 2019. So when he proposed he knew he wanted to incorporate this location somehow. Despite only being open 4 days they accommodated a party of 10 so that after he proposed our families could go back to where it all started. Not only were they integral to making our day that much more special, the food was amazing (honestly better than when we worked at the previous establishment here). The server was fabulous and kind, checked in a bunch, and was informative about the menu. We got a smorgasbord of food; prosciutto pizza, grilled chicken sandwich, the angry butcher, and more. The Civility Social House is a great place to go! The drinks are incredible- the margarita flight was flavorful and fun (hits the spot too with a little spice!). The fried chicken sandwich was also AWESOME. I will be craving this sandwich at least weekly. The best part overall though was the staff. Outstanding food and service! We came for the $5 bar slider special and were blown away by the quality. We had the grilled chicken, meatball, and house sliders, and all three were outstanding. The chicken was juicy, the meatball was one of the best I've had in awhile, and the house slider tasted like a high-end beef patty topped with French onion soup - yum! We enjoyed the atmosphere and especially loved that they open up the giant door so you get the indoor/outdoor vibe. Awesome on a nice day. They do have plenty of outdoor seating as well. We ordered the buffalo chicken pizza which was thin and crispy and the arancini, both of which we enjoyed although the buff chicken pizza could use more chicken. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The art inside is pretty cool as well. This is definitely an upgrade over American Fresh Brewhouse that formally occupied the space.
