I was hoping this place would hit the spot but it was kind of disappointing. It was very hit or miss with the plates, but has a great vibe. We ordered 4 small plates and only enjoyed 2 of them. We got the cucumber salad, blue crab rangoon, sticky ribs, and pork/shrimp gyoza. The cucumber salad looked kind of old in my opinion, like it had been sitting in the sauce for a while, and was overly salty. The pork/shrimp gyoza were somehow flavorless, and the sauce was watery. The crab rangoon were delicious though and the ribs were as well. My espresso martini (their Cocolee drink) was also a little bland and I wouldn't order it again. Overall enjoyed less than half my meal. The workers were all very kind. And the vibes are really nice, we sat outdoors and I love the patio. Ambience was nice, the waiter was attentive but that's where the good things end. The concept of the restaurant is cool but the execution was poor. The drinks were not tasty, and had a chlorine aftertaste. The food- we got the feast with the short ribs was very disappointing. The fried rice was really just oily rice, missing the fried aspect and the flavor. The short ribs were chewy and burnt and there was a very small amount of meat for the price. This was $65 and advertised to serve up to 3 people. Overall it was very bland and uninteresting. Overall really disappointing. I was excited to check this place out but we won't be back. read more

I came here for a weeknight dinner and enjoyed a casual place for some good food and vibes. Even though I didn't have a reservation, the host was able to seat us outside which was much appreciated. We ordered the dan dan noodles which I really liked, the egg rolls, short rib sliders, chicken dumplings, and a round of drinks. While the food was good, the dan dan noodles were definitely the star. The chicken dumplings and egg rolls were good but felt similar to what you'd find anywhere else. Cocolee is a new spot in Assembly Row located next to the river and park area. We stopped by on a weeknight with a pretty large group and the staff was really friendly and accommodating! We ordered drinks and appetizers to share including the dumplings, egg rolls, and crab ragoons. Everything was really good, but my favorite was definitely the crab rangoons. They also have a few mocktail options that were great like the Hi, Barbie. I wish the portion sizes were a bit bigger for the price, but overall a fun spot to check out. They do have some indoor seating, but I recommend sitting outside if the weather is nice! read more

Surprisingly great addition to Assembly row area. They have completely transformed the former bar into a chic, cute, insta worthy restaurant. The food and vibes are both on point! The staff is very friendly. They have a pretty decent menu with lots of options. We ordered a plate of dumplings each and shared cucumber and papaya salad. Surprisingly the appetizers / small plates were larger than expected! The only thing is that if I were a vegetarian I wouldn't be fully satisfied with the menu. Love that there's a new outdoor vibey restaurant in the assembly row area that you can enjoy with a nice view. This review is based of drinks mostly since I arrived after 10 and the kitchen was closed which was no biggie, I knew that beforehand from their website. So we ordered 4 drinks total which was Cocolee, sleeping with sirens, da nang, jungle bird and we personally liked them. They were not too strong or to sweet and it was just right, my boyfriend really enjoyed Cocolee the best out of the 4 because of the toasted coconut on top. We would consider going back for food next time we're in the area just to try it out but it would be a nice spot to Kindof relax after a long day of shopping ! read more

Really good food!!! The spare ribs and gyudon were particularly exceptional, but everything hit. Drinks were also solid. Our only complaint was that the food was incredibly slow to come out, literally like 45 minutes, which was particularly surprising at lunch. They just opened and I'm sure are still figuring things out. I'd definitely come back again! Just not when I'm in a hurry lol. read more

The decor here is absolutely stunning -- from the vibrant tiki bar to the gorgeous river view, it's definitely a vibe. We tried their mocktails and let rhe bartender surprised us, which were light and refreshing, perfect for a hot day. The dumplings were tasty but arrived lukewarm, which was a bit disappointing. Skip the Singaporean noodles -- the pork didn't taste like char siu at all (despite what the menu says), and the dish overall lacked flavor. Drink/service review only - No food. Came for a nightcap with 2 friends after dinner at Parla. I had been to the restaurant that was here previously and I asked my friends if they wanted to try Cocolee as I hadn't been before. I didn't know until the next day that they had just opened a week and a half before. We got 3 seats at the outdoor bar on Saturday night. We really just wanted 1 more drink after dining nearby. My friend and I ordered a regular espresso martini (not the one on the cocktail menu). The drinks arrived with a gritty layer of coffee grounds on the top. We both hesitantly took a sip - it was awful! I asked the outdoor bartender who had taken our order (but who had not made the drinks) if they were supposed to be like that. Apparently, they weren't and he took them away. I was glad it wasn't normal to chew through my espresso martini. I took the opportunity to order something else, as I wasn't 100% convinced that the next one would be better. My friend stuck with an espresso martini and received the next one sans-grit. Instead, I asked for a bone dry Tanqueray martini with a twist of lemon. Hard to mess up as it's literally chilled gin with a twist. As soon as I took a sip, I could tell it had vermouth in it. The bartender who made the drink inside was still there and I sheepishly asked if there was vermouth in my martini and he said "Yes, I put vermouth in there!" I told him I had asked for it bone dry. Without saying anything, he took it and poured it out. Both bartenders seemed annoyed. It was probably at each other, but it didn't feel great to sit there with mad bartenders after I got 2 messed up drinks in a row. I did feel kind of bad, but had to remind myself that it was their error and not mine. I finally got my drink (3rd times the charm...?), and we paid the check and left. No apology, no discount, ok... I was going to give an extra star because I found out they were so new, but A) making classic drinks correctly should have nothing to do with the newness of the restaurant, and B) I remembered that last week, I went to another new restaurant on their 2nd day being open and the service, food, and drinks were top notch, so... it can be done. Anyway - I don't think I'll need to return to Cocolee. I wish I had ordered my final drink of the night elsewhere. read more

Cocolee is a great addition to Assembly Row. The food/drinks were great and the service was wonderful. I loved the ambiance outside. The heaters on the porch kept us at a very comfortable temperature as well as the fire pit to enjoy. We got the spare ribs, scallion pancakes, crab Rangoon and chicken karaage. Tried out this new outdoor bar/restaurant in assembly row for the first time and was not super impressed. Upon arriving, I noticed that they had some great decor here. The outdoor bar area seems very enjoyable for a night out with friends and the interior decor was quite pretty and well placed. We ordered an assortment of appetizers for five people just for snacking on. My favorite was definitely the blue crab rangoons because they didn't not seem that oily or over-fried and the crab filling was light and yummy. I also loved the topping of real crab, which wrapped up my bite well. I also liked the shark fin dumplings, which was a vegetable dumpling wrapped with a thin rice-paper like wrapper. The two salads we got were good, but lacking in flavor for me. I'm not sure if this is what they were going for, but I wasn't very impressed with what we ordered. Lastly, the cucumber salad was the most disappointing since it absolutely tasted like they just sliced some cucumber and put a store bought chili oil on top. Maybe we will have to come back and try more of their menu, but I wasn't very wowed during my first visit. read more

I had high hopes for Cocolee. The food is good, but the service was careless. Outdoor dining comes with some unpredictability, but how staff handle it matters. We were seated under a tree with a bird perched overhead. 10 minutes in, the bird pooped on my shirt. I cleaned it with my own wipes--no napkin, no comped item from the server. Then it happened again on my head. We asked to move tables. Staff kept seating guests at the same table, despite knowing the issue. I warned one group, who moved. A few minutes later, another party was seated and the bird struck again, this time on a woman's hair. The staff seemed more focused on filling tables than basic hygiene or customer care. I suggested they use umbrellas or canopies, but who knows if that was heard. Not sure I'll be back. Good food isn't enough when common sense is missing. read more

Came here around 11 pm after my group was turned away from Parla across the street (even though it was completely empty!) and we were immediately sat inside at a large table. The manager and staff are all extremely kind and accommodating, and let us put in a last minute food order even though the kitchen was closed for the night. We all really enjoyed our drinks and got a few plates to share including the crab rangoons, shrimp salad, chicken wings, and cucumber salad. All of it was really tasty! All show no substance. Food is mid at best. Service can be improved. They didn't pace the meal very well and also everything came out of order (mains before salad etc). Had a wonderful time with a group of friends trying lots of cocktail and food! The Hootie and the Blowfish cocktail was my favorite. Unfortunately Cocolee is floundering much like the previous restaurant that occupied this same space. The food was very bland, the portions were tiny but expensive, and it's not as if it was high class dining or fine cuts. Further, when we received our appetizer they gave us a cup full of water and told us it was soy sauce. Mistakes are fine, and I'm no critic, but it was just followed by more and more and more. The cocktails were haphazardly slapped together as well, the bar tenders seem to be very new and unable to mix drinks well yet, that or the beverages are simply not good. It's sad because the space is beautiful, but again this restaurant's food is dreadful, the staff are disinterested kids who pose for selfies amongst themselves instead of moving through the busy space. I hope a new restaurant comes in soon, and that this next one actually makes this beautiful location a place worth visiting. read more

I have never ran from a restaurant quicker!!! I will say the food was good, but we were only able to make it through appetizers before asking for the check because of drunk unruly guests, it was only 6 pm. We had the crab ragoon (which weirdly smelled like a cat's litter box but tasted really good lol) and pork and shrimp dumplings. As for our experience inside... Cocolee has a small indoor area that gives off intimate vibes, however you add in 3 drunk girls, it makes the whole experience intolerable. When we arrived they were berating the bartender to take better photos of them before deciding it was just them that looked bad. Next, they started making a TikTok to Justin Beiber's "Baby," the bartender is still filling up their wine glasses, one of the drunk girls, she will now be known as Becky, is getting up and interrupting people's meals to ask them to be in her TikTok. One table politely declined, and drunk Becky decided to yell loudly about how they were rude losers. Next drunk Becky asked us, I kindly said no as my fiancé and I were eating and having our date night, to which she said we were losers, and then continued to yell and harp on how much my boyfriend is a loser for 10 minutes to the entire restaurant. She is so obnoxious the previous table she asked to be in her TikTok starts gesturing to us that she needs some not so gentle correcting if you catch my drift. This is when I asked for the check and informed the bartender we can't stay any longer with drunk Becky yelling along her drunk friends there, to which a gentleman at the bar agreed with us. Becky continues to yell how people are losers until she realizes she ate pork, and apparently drunk Becky can't eat pork, and goes into the men's bathroom stall with her friend to vomit. All this aside, it's not Cocolee's fault for drunk Becky's behavior, however, my problem with Cocolee is there was 4-5 servers seeing this behavior, including the manager? (I believe it was the manager as he wasn't dressed like the others and in a zip-up) and the back of house as well because it is small, and no one corrects them, no one refuses to serve them, no one asks them to leave, all of them are standing there laughing at the drunk girls while continuing to over-serve them sauvignon blanc (yup I know her drink because she was yelling she wants a refill), all at the expense of every single other person there. read more
