Nachos with chicken
Neeka P.

Food was pretty solid. The pulled chicken rings was very good. The service was meh it didn't seem that busy but kind of took awhile for them to come around. The fajitas were okay, nothing amazing. But I enjoyed the nachos and tacos a lot!

Toca Chida is a great addition to Assembly Row! It's a fun and lively spot and a great place to meet with friends and family. We recently visited on a Friday during their free taco special they offer every day between 4-6 pm with a drink purchase. We started with the Sangria Flight and Margarita Flight, which were all refreshing and had a nice variety of flavors. For our free tacos we got the Chicken Tinga which had a great balance of spice and tenderness and the Fried Chicken was crispy and satisfying. The Fried Chicken taco was definitely a little heavier than the Chicken Tinga. As someone who can be weird with restaurant chicken, the chicken here was cooked to perfection and was not rubbery or chewy. We also had the table-side guacamole and chips - OMG so good. The guac had the perfect amount of kick and the chips were perfectly salted. The quesadilla was average but good. It wasn't super busy when we went in but around 6/7pm it started to fill in more. Great spot for a casual hangout and was even told they're one of the only spots open late in Assembly. The service was friendly and attentive.

Came here for my bday dinner with friends. Requested a booth during the reservation and upon arrival was given a table. Luckily they were able to accommodate a booth but not the one I desired. Food is small plates so I'll be honest we left hungry but food was pretty good. I suggest getting a couple of things to split with friends. I liked my empanadas and the chips with queso were good. Good vibes and aesthetically pleasing for insta pics.

I was coming off a one week fast and this was the absolute BEST way to do it! The table side guacamole, the delicious queso, incredibly flavorful crunchy shrimp!!! EVERYTHING was beyond what I expected. I went here last Sunday and gave myself 6 days before reviewing to make sure my 5 review isn't just based on the fact that I was beyond hungry when I went here and it is not. Toca is hands down my new favorite restaurant!!!! I have been trying to find a reason to gather my friends so we can return and at this point, simply eating their food again is reason enough!

Toca Chida is a gorgeous spot that opened up recently in assembly row! Definitely has a fun vibe and I was excited to try it. We decided to do some small plates and tacos to share. Ceviche was super fresh and loved the shrimp tacos I got. Definitely recommend leaving space for tres leches cake at the end too. Although the restaurant is gorgeous, I felt like for the food we got, it was pretty pricy. The tacos were good but not super big. Also, it felt like the service was rushed even though it wasn't very busy. Definitely would want to give it another try though later!

I came in with pretty low expectations, I've been disappointed by so many new places in Boston that have 10/10 vibes and 1/10 food. HOWEVER, this place was not that. We started with the sangria and margarita flights, and ended up getting full size sangrias in each flavor after. There's a flavor for every taste, so I highly recommend starting with the flight. We then proceeded to get almost every small plate and taco on the menu. Everything was shockingly good. I'd especially recommend the table-side guac, Sinaloa Sliders, and fried chicken tacos (don't knock it till you try it!). The food is pretty pricey, but honestly it was worth it and to be expected in a brand new space at Assembly Row. They had everything -- food, service, and vibes. It is like a perfect in-between of Bartaco and Lolita's

Toca Chida at Assembly Row is a cute, spacious spot with plenty of parking. The menu offers a good selection of tacos, dips, salads, and drinks.(the menu isn't large). I tried the shrimp tacos with a Caesar salad, while my partner had the short rib and pork carnitas tacos. The portions were generous, especially the meat, which made it worth the price. We shared the guacamole, which was delicious. Overall, I'd definitely recommend Toca Chida for small bites and drinks. We stopped by on a Sunday evening, wasn't busy and the server was very attentive.

Dessert- fried banana dish with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Yum!!!

I came to Toca Chida with a friend last Saturday to grab lunch before seeing a movie at Assembly Row which is a 2 minute walk from the restaurant. This was a lovely place to enjoy the holidays since the restaurant was nicely lit up with decorations, which put me in the holiday spirit. We were very impressed with the service, ambience and most importantly, the food! Our server was helpful and patient in suggesting substitutions for dishes on the menu to accommodate my low carb dietary preferences. Instead of getting a taco, I ordered the Roasted Brussel Sprouts Salad and asked for Braised Short Rib on the salad. I was pleased that the portion size of protein was enough to fill me up. My friend ordered the sliders which she said were delicious and we both got mocktails. (I have to say their non-alcoholic beverage options are delicious)! For dessert, my friend ordered some kind of incredible fried banana dish with vanilla ice cream. I took a few bites and dare I say this was the best ice cream I've ever tasted in my life. I asked what brand it is and they said it's "Giffords" which is made in Maine. I will definitely come back here next time I'm in Assembly Row. Five stars all around!

Very cute vibes and ambience, though the music was a little loud. The margaritas were delicious but also strong! Highly recommend the chicken tinga tacos and the fried chicken tacos. Staff were very friendly and attentive. It was bustling for a Friday night but no wait time for a table! Definitely will be coming back!

I was so excited to see a new spot coming to Assembly row. The ambiance and vibe inside Toca Chids is definitely part of the appeal. Its beautiful and super fun. I would say the vibe and service were 10/10 but the some of the food could use just a little work which I think will come in time. The nachos and fried shrimp were super delicious. The quesadilla was tasty but a little burnt, and the tacos were also very tasty but the carnitas were a little bit dry. Overall it was a good experience and i'll definitely be back to try more!

Went to lunch Sunday with my GFBBF. We got quack tableside. That was good. But needed more chips.I got the crispy shrimp tacos. They were great. GF got the chicken tinga tacos, she liked. Service by Camelia was great. She had great energy & was very friendly. Was wondering why no boritos or rice on the menu?

This is supposed to be a "sheet pan".

There is literally fun everywhere you look from the panda stuffed animal riding a tiger on the wall to the hilarious shrek pillow. Coming right when they open I was able to see these things that you would likely not see in the evening. But to be fair I came right when they opened since it is first come first serve. A majority of the drinks were more on the savory side which was very interesting like "may all your bacon burn" with bacon bites at the top of the drink. The drinks my friend had were all stunning with the use of egg yolk to elevate the drink. We ended the evening by walking over to Bow Market and trying Viet Citron which was so DANG GOOD my gosh. The to go orders were insane but looks like they are doing very well despite recently opening in. I got the grilled lemongrass pork ribs bowl and youtiao and the side sauce was so good. The ribs were all very meaty. It looks small but I was surprised how full I was after having it. Nice night of drinks and food. The peanut butter sauce wasn't too nutty and went so well with the fish. I ate every little piece up. We also ordered the Wagyu Viet Carpaccio which was also good. Not a fan of the layout of the restaurant. I don't like the long table in the center for parties of 2, it felt a bit awkward to be so close to other groups and there were large vases of fresh flowers which, albeit were very beautiful, I think should have been moved after parties are seated. A huge bouquet of fresh lilies were taking up a lot of space on the table when I went and they got in the way at times.

We had reservations for 7:30, and when we got there, the place was decently busy - a few empty…read moretables here and there - so we were seated immediately. We ordered quickly after perusing the (rather short) menu, most of which was either small plates and cocktails . Our first plate was the hainan chicken arancini. I really liked the contrast in textures between the crispy exterior and the tender chicken and rice mix on the inside. Overall flavour was not bad, too, but I'm not sure that it was exactly good enough to merit the price point of $18. Next was the Xi'an street noodles, which was probably my favourite dish of the meal. The noodles were very well cooked - chewy but not too soft - and I loved the sauce, with the gentle peanut aroma on top of the various spices they used. One comment was that the chilli crisp, which was tasty, was very lacking (in amount) and as a consequence the dish was really not spicy at all. Finally we had the chilli crisp buffalo chicken. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the chicken was boneless (I was expecting something more like chicken wings), which made for very clean eating :) The buffalo sauce was nice (and perhaps a bit spicier than the aforementioned chilli crisp) and the chicken itself was very rich and juicy. Portion size was quite large too and overall I was very happy with this plate. For drinks we ordered the Jaded, which was a fun matcha-themed cocktail (even the marshmallow was matcha-flavoured) and a (spirit-free) cranberry limeade, which was surprisingly refreshing and sweet. Overall a yummy meal, but definitely very expensive. I would be interested to try some more of their cocktails, which seem very creative, but I'm not sure if I would be keen to come again primarily for the food. (To be fair, though, this is often the modus operandi of these restaurants that specialise in small plates and drinks )

Also it was fairly expensive so I expected bigger portions or at least better flavor. Drinks on the other hand were delicious!

Service was very friendly and timely. The food was just not great. I ordered the mushroom and goat cheese omelet, and they were nice enough to let me swap goat cheese for Parmesan. To drink, I got a coffee. The coffee was fine - not amazing but not bad either. The omelet was just okay - it could have used some more salt. A little bland. I did love the home fries - crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and very well seasoned. The toast tasted like grocery store bread, so that was a little disappointing for the price. So to sum up: on the positive side, ambiance and service were great. Home fries were delicious. Portions were generous. On the meh side, omelette and bread were bland (plus they were no longer hot by the time they came out, so that was strange). The only really bad thing I have to say is that they served my mom sour milk for her coffee, but they were very apologetic and gifted us blueberry muffins to make up for it, so I won't hold it against them.

It was such a cute hidden area, and I was already excited before we even got to the place. We headed upstairs into the bar, and the vibe was perfect. It's small, cozy, dimly lit, with vibey music playing. Since it was our first time, we were a little confused at first, but the waiter was super kind and walked us through everything. I ordered the Elly the Elephant and my friend got the Laughing Gull, and we both really enjoyed our drinks. One thing I thought was really nice is that they allow you to grab food from the surrounding restaurants and bring it in to eat there. We didn't end up doing that, but we did get the charcuterie board they had. It came with cheeses, crackers, and some fruit, and you can add meats for $10, which we opted out for. I will say I was a little disappointed by the fruit portion. The menu mentioned fresh fruit, so I expected more than three thin orange slices and one sliced strawberry. HOWEVER, when I asked for more strawberries, our waiter kindly brought out a whole bowl for me, which I really appreciated. We stayed for about two hours, and as the night went on the place definitely got more crowded, so we headed out. Overall, this is such a cute and cozy cocktail bar. I'll definitely be back when the weather is warmer to try the other drinks and restaurants in the market.
