Civita Park in Mission Valley has quickly become one of my go-to spots, especially since it's just a short drive from home. It's super accessible with ample parking, and I love that there are multiple entry points and routes you can take depending on how long of a walk you're in the mood for. This park truly has something for everyone. There's a splash pad, basketball courts, a great playground for kids, and even a giant chess game, which is such a fun and unique touch. It's also an amazing place to walk your dog--I bring mine here all the time, and he absolutely loves all the open grass and the variety of paths we can explore. One of my favorite features is the set of stairs that lead up toward the residential areas and the dog park. If you take them all the way up, you're rewarded with really pretty views at the top, which makes the little climb totally worth it. Overall, Civita Park is clean, well-designed, and perfect whether you're looking to be active or just enjoy a relaxing afternoon outdoors. Definitely a Mission Valley gem! read more

Pros: Spacious, plenty of walking paths, with nice clean facilities, which include 2 family bathrooms with baby diaper changing stations and several drinking fountains. There's also a row of small fountains for kids to play, run through and splash in. Cons: It's a really nice park ON A COOL DAY. Lately, with temperatures 10 to 19° above "normal average" - or maybe it's just the new normal - it's hard to recall the last time we got to experience a cool day. But here, the way the gazebos, tables, and benches are set up reflects a pretty severe case of denial that this is Southern California, and not quite within walking distance from the beach. It WILL get hot whenever it damn pleases, with or without notice. It did so in February already, in case you missed it. We came a few times for the farmers market. Both days were unfortunately " 80°F" her weather report, which in reality feels like 92°F, and we had to scramble to find a little bit of shade, so that we could eat our street food without passing out from heat stroke. We huddled awkwardly on the curb under a small tree. Other people passing by with food in their hands looked at us with envy. NOT A SINGLE PERSON sat on the readily available benches with tables, because they were in the blazing sun, yet lacked any shade. Never mind an umbrella, not even holes to put one in!! Denial much?? It's really sad, because it's a beautiful place. It just DESPERATELY needs more shade for the visitors to feel comfortable without clinging to trees or the bathroom walls. read more

Civita Park is one of the nicest urban parks in San Diego -- peaceful, beautifully designed, and perfect for relaxing or spending time with family. The landscaping is gorgeous, with lots of greenery, open lawns, and walking paths that make it great for a casual stroll or picnic. The playground area is modern and well maintained, and there's plenty of space for kids to run around safely. I also loved how clean everything was -- restrooms, benches, and common areas were clearly taken care of. It has a calm neighborhood vibe but still feels lively, with people walking dogs, exercising, or just enjoying the sunshine. Parking was easy, and the whole area feels thoughtfully planned. Other than Fiesta Island (which is massive), this is my dog's favorite dog park. The grounds are clean and well maintained with dog owners picking up after themselves as well. They have 2 completely fenced in dog parks- one for the big dogs and one for the small ones. The only thing that's a bit challenging is sometimes the parking - make sure you park in the right spots because I have seen people getting towed before. read more

Civita park is very unique and a modern marvel. It is designed beautiful with different levels. There's open spaces big enough for a soccer field, basket ball half courts, play grounds, water fountain, table tennis, garden, mini amphitheater. At the top of the stairs there's a beautiful tunnel with a large mural of San Diego and views of the park. Almost forgot there's a couple of dog parks at the top. Amongst the park there's nice mini gardens, picnic tables and some grills and lots of restrooms. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars if because there's not much shade, also parking can be tough at times. read more

This is a beautiful park in the middle of Mission Valley. It's nestled in between the three separate Civita apartment complexes. I've been here multiple times with friends, just meeting up to have a little picnic lunch or take a walk. It's always been very clean and well kept. There's a lot of parking available. They also have nice bicycle lanes surrounding the park so you could take a ride as well. It's a huge asset to Mission Valley to have such a beautiful park accessible! read more

Civita Park is my favorite park in mission valley. There's something for everyone to enjoy here including two different play structures for all ages, a beautiful well maintained sand pit with soft sand, basketball courts, several grassy fields, a splash pad and shaded areas with picnic tables. They even have several bathrooms with hand washing stations. At the bottom of the park, you'll find a gorgeous gated vegetable garden and tractor in front of it for kiddos to enjoy. If you hike/walk to the top of this park, you'll see a great view of mission valley. There's also cute bunny statues place on rocks through out the park. My toddler gets a kick out of them. This park is wonderful for dogs, their owners, kids, pretty much anyone who loves to be outside. There's also food truck nights on Tuesdays and a farmers market every Sunday here. There's also a parking lot, but be prepared to hike a bit as this park is hilly. read more

Plenty of parking, but prep ahead of time if you're visiting on a Saturday morning as they have weekly farmer's markets, so it can get crowded. Wow, what a beautiful and enjoyable park this is! My daughter has lived here for a couple years and I visit the park a couple times a day when I come see her. The meandering paths are a delight to explore, and the succulent garden in the center is teaming with beautiful plants and tiny animals. The public restrooms are well kept. There are activities for all ages. The pathways could use a better blowing each day, as the dogs that get walked through the park every day end up kicking up a lot of bark dust onto the pathways. read more

The most beautiful park I have seen lately! I went there to visit the farmers market for the first time and stayed for a couple of hours to hike the park. I say hike because there is so much to see and walk around, including stairs up that magical tunnel with amazing mural art. The views are soothing to the eyes, so much space for children and adults alike. I enjoyed the mural the most plus the scent garden and observed the different areas to have picnics. I would like to see more shaded picnic areas because it looks like a very hot space (at least today was super hot). Recommended a hat and plenty of water if you want to stick around because not that many shade spots. I truly liked the rabbit metal sculptures everywhere. Such a cute touch. Also the curvaceous shapes of the veranda at the stairs and other architectural points. All is blending so well, you can tell they put a lot of effort in designing this beautiful huge park. The sun logo is so cool too, you will see everywhere, from the restrooms to the sewage covers. I can't wait to go back in a group for a concert there. However, this seems to be a very safe part for anyone to go alone and wander around, have a picnic solo, meditate, read a book, breathe. read more

This park has an amazing splash pad. My son loves coming here for the splash pad alone...but he also loves the play structures and sand areas to play in. There's something for every age! Civita Park is truly a hidden treasure. During our visit, the weather was clear with a breathtaking blue sky. There is plenty of parking and spacious areas which provided ideal spots to relax and enjoy family time. There are also a couple of basketball courts nearby. Civita Park is incredible! When it first opened, I remember walking through the park in awe of its smart and strategic design. It's so well thought out and well planned. At the base of the park, there's large concrete space. You'll regularly find people roller skating or hanging out in the splash pad area. This is where they have a Farmer's Market every Saturday. Although small, there are delicious food stalls with plenty of space to eat and enjoy. They have well maintained bathrooms at the base of the park. There's plenty of green space sprawled across along with two playgrounds, basketball courts and an arena. Tons of people utilize the park for birthday parties. There's lot of space to bbq or to gather with friends. On Tuesdays, they have their food trucks parked in the culdesac with live music on the adjacent grassy field. At night, when it begins to get dark, the park has intentional lighting built into the railings. This park is just incredible for so many reasons and I'm so glad to have this beautiful green space in Mission Valley. read more

This is my favorite park in all of San Diego (not that I've been too all of them). This is always a clean and safe place for me to spend time with friends and family. It has basketball courts, grills, chess, water for kids to play in, and 2 huge parks. I've even thrown events here, and getting the permits are quick and easy. I came here for the first time after being invited to a kid birthday party. This park is huge and they have a big parking lot to go with it. The park is very well kept. There were many other kid parties going at the same time but the park was large enough that we all had plenty of space to have the separate parties. 07-09-23 Didn't know about this place until my friends and I came here on a Sunday for a free concert, Betamaxx band (plays 80's and old school) 6pm - 7:30pm. Fun to see the children running around cooling themselves off on the water sprouts. Saw gigantic Inflatable Bounce House before leaving the event. Not sure of the set up. Maybe, Lighthouse Bible Church provided them to the children free of charge, worth checking it out if you have children. Now this is what a 5 star park is all about. Parking can be a challenge, but it's definitely worth the wait. If for some odd reason you don't like children, this is not the park for you. Lots of open spaces, stairs to climb, plenty of grassy knolls, ping pong tables, basketball courts, a scent garden, several large playgrounds for the kiddos, what more could you ask for. Oh and did I mention there are plenty of bathrooms. Yeah, there's also a garden with lots of wonderful looking veggies, however I'm not sure how one gains access to it. This is by far my favorite park, not because our sweet boy loved it, but because it has so many memories of our sweet boy who went to Doggy Heaven. Civita Park was our Sunday tradition, rain or shine. He snowed running around the grass and playing on the playground area. He remembered our tree - it's the tree located in the middle top part looking down on the stage area. Our favorite spot to rest and lay down enjoying some shade during hot summer days. The park is full of like, from birthday parties to yoga classes to people playing soccer. They also have a small farmers market on Saturdays. The water portion is perfect during those horrible summer days when you wished you stayed indoors. read more

In the middle of Mission Valley lies this gem of a park. It's very clean, well kept, and has some great parts to it. The garden in the middle of the park is a great spot to ponder your thoughts. There is a staircase at the back of the park that leads up to a view of the complex and parts of Mission Valley and the 8 freeway. There is a bridge at the top of the staircase with neat artwork under the bridge. At the bottom of the park is plenty of grass and space, two amphitheaters, and a concrete area with benches and water that squirts out from the ground for the kiddos on a warm summer day. If you get tired of the hustle and bustle of Mission Valley this is a great spot to chill out. read more

There are playgrounds for all ages, hiking trails, wheelchair accessible paths, large grassy lawns, basketball courts, a beautiful mural depicting San Diego's highlights with a beautiful bird's eye view of the park and surrounding San Diego, gardens, concert stages, and dog parks. There are restrooms and benches throughout the park. Now if those trees would grow big enough to provide shade for the warmer months, I would be happy to come during the summer. When we are out of ideas to entertain our twin toddlers, our go to place has been the Civita Park playground. It is a bit of a trek to walk to the playground from the parking lot of the main street parking, but once there, there are swings sets, sand box, a smaller playground and then larger one above. I love that the two playgrounds are on the rubber floors rather than sand because telling my toddlers that sand is yucky and not food gets old quickly. The smaller playground is perfect for very young kids, we started taking them there before they were officially walking, but they were able to crawl around and pull themselves up to standing on different parts of the play structure. Now that they're walking, it's easier for us to tail/chase them around the smaller playground. The larger, upper playground is a bit more suited for slightly older children with monkey bars and steeper slides, but when it's fairly empty, we let our little ones explore that play structure as well. read more

Oh my gosh!! This park is beautiful!! Not sure how long it's been open but the views!! From the scenic plants to the homes-I really enjoyed being here. The restrooms are nice and clean. There's a ton of open space. There's literal layers to this park! The bottom has cute benches with dog statutes and a giant chess game set. As you walk up towards the hill you see different parts of this park. The playground is mid way up to the hill with about 3 different playgrounds I believe. Architectural beauty!! So many beautiful plants all around. As you rise higher, there are benches and like a tiny river. This will be great in the summer for bbqs. And when you get even higher there is a mini trail for walking/running etc and a big staircase ( which I will be going up next time). Sooo pretty-jelly of the ppl who live right near it! read more

Can read some nice informational plaques that they provided about nature. Dog park at one end. Every so often they have live performances and food trucks that come by.
