Visits prior to this one have had about the same or worse outcomes, order being wrong, missing items, etc.. but this time me and my bf ordered 2 Phillys and 2 drinks which was 32 dollars and this is what we get barly any meat on the Philly with is sad for all the money we just paid for the philly. Staying in town on our drive back to Florida. I must say "Thanks again Yelp". Monday special is 2 salads 2 lasagna 2 drinks. No beer or wine here. Just soft drinks- tea. Our waitress Cynthia took excellent care of us and the other diners. Looks like the locals love the place. At 6:30 it was full. Good size salad with tomatoes cucumbers and cheese. We did their house Italian dressing. The lasagna is served with two pieces of bread. It came out really hot. Yep like it should. Really nice taste. Tomato sauce had nice taste. So it's a 5. I hate leaving a one star because the place is charming and the staff was great BUT the food was terrible. The pizza was super greasy, crust was very thin and flavor was lacking. This was recommended to us by a local. It was pretty crowded when we got there, but managed to get a booth. It's a pizza place serving up pies, stromboli and subs. The decor has wood tables and booths with metal signs and knick knacks on the wall. We started with some cheesy bread. And ordered a supreme or deluxe pizza to share. The cheesy bread was good. I wanted a little bit of garlic to really make it pop, but the marinara was fresh and yummy. Our server was friendly, but she put in our order wrong. It took a while for our pizza to come out and when she brought it, it was a plain cheese pizza. She recognized it was a mistake, took it back and offered us an appetizer while we waited for the correct pizza. So then we tried some bacon cheese fries with homemade ranch. That was delicious. Finally, the correct pizza arrived. We opted for the thicker crust. The sauce was good and toppings fresh with a crisp crust. Amazing service. I ordered online and was given an estimated time for completion. I showed up a few minutes and within 30 seconds of arrival someone was at my vehicle to help. There's no pricing on the menu (or the CC receipt for that matter) except for the cost of additional ingredients on applicable dishes, so be prepared for sticker shock. I ordered 12" pepperoni and bacon. You can see the pepperoni, but there's barely any bacon on the pizza. Certainly not enough to justify the surcharge. We checked this place out based on Yelp reviews. It was excellent! A very cute establishment, just outside of the main downtown area. The parking lot was full of cars. And when we walked inside we knew why. The decor is very well done, and the atmosphere was very inviting. Our waitress, Hannah, was very sweet. We ordered our meals to go. I couldn't believe the great prices! The chicken alfredo was delicious. We got the 14in combination sub and it was very well put together. And we got the chef salad, which was a very generous portion. The ranch dressing is homemade and it was very flavorful. Longest. Wait. Ever. We stopped for a pizza and fries on our way through since these reviews were good. We arrived around 5:05 pm, hardly the dinner rush. Very few tables were full. Ordered 1 large pizza. Decided to order fries while we waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. Watched other people come in, sit down, and get their food. Asked about the fries and were told,"oh, they're not up yet." What? 40 minutes and the fries aren't done?! In what universe is that possible. After 45 minutes we got the pizza. Stopped in for dinner. It was typically busy for a Friday, but the manager really dropped the ball tonight. There was only two waitresses working and about eight people working in the kitchen and behind the counter. It took approximately 40 minuets to have our meal served. The waitresses did their best to keep up, but the management poorly scheduled their help. To have too much help behind the counter and not enough help attending to customers is absolutely ridiculous. A favorite of ours is the special that they have Wednesdays thru Saturdays that consist of a medium, 2 topping pizza, 2 chef salads and 2 drinks. I always look forward to getting the salad because the cheese they use in the salad tastes so good and the dressings are homemade and very tasty. Pizza is also very tasty! We have also tried the Stromboli and my next endeavor is going to pizza the pasta or a philly cheese steak sub :). CJ's is one place I HAVE to go when I make it to Wytheville. The parking lot is a little strange, but this is of little concern. As others have said, the service can be hit-or-miss, but it certainly isn't enough to deter me from going. If your service is bad, take a moment to look around. All this cool stuff and memorabilia is hanging on the walls. Their sweet tea is awesome and their steak Stromboli is to die for. You definitely want to get it with ranch dressing on the side. One large Stromboli lasted me three meals the last time I went in. In my opinion, CJ's owns West Lee Highway. It is pretty much over there by itself. read more

So I learned from a friend who grew up here that CJ's is not just any pizza. This is perhaps the only place that serves Wytheville style pizza. The difference is that they use white cheddar instead of mozzarella. The result is not as noticeable as I expected, but the combination of the cheddar and the sauce is very good. I would rate this against New York pizza. It's probably better than some New York pizza, in my opinion. Also, the service is very friendly and prompt. My friend also had the Stromboli, which was also very, very good. Both are a little greasy, but that's how I like it. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. read more
