Don't let the exterior of this establishment fool you - this place was absolutely outstanding. Very clean and friendly, and the food was unbelievably good. Our meal was prepared by the owner himself, a Greek gentleman who came out to talk with all the customers. It was the sort of atmosphere that I haven't experienced since I was in Greece. There were several people in the place, which seems to be primarily seafood, so maybe that's good. Good food and service at a fair price. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere for something that used to be a gas station. It is right off of I-77 and convenient if you're traveling. But, the butter for the hush puppies sat on the table and was obviously spoiled. This left us with a bad aftertaste even after leaving the restaurant. My wife says that she'll not go back because of the butter, so that's it for us! I'd give three and a half stars if I could, but I'll give three. Coming back from Hillsville to WV, my wife thought this would be up my alley as I really enjoy seafood and greek food, and she loves a good gyro, so we stopped. The owner was super nice and greeted every table that came in, so that was a plus. Hush puppies came to the table and they were great, as they were sweet and I like sweet hush puppies. That, unfortunately, is where our good experience stopped. I ordered a platter with flounder, shrimp, and deviled crab. The menu had the option for cajun, so I chose that. Had I known "cajun" meant dousing my entire plate in Frank's Red Hot or another buffalo sauce I never would have done it. Rendered every piece of fish soggy and borderline inedible. There were 3 bottles of sauces on the table, which one assumed was ketchup, cocktail, and tarter sauce. Both the red bottles contained ketchup, and the tartar sauce was warm and frankly smelled and tasted sour. Wife had gyro which had a bunch of pieces of hard lamb inside, and she only ate a few bites. I got mac and cheese and the slaw that comes with the dishes, and the mac was awful. Possibly the worst I've had in a restaurant in my lifetime. The slaw was decent, but very dry and I only had a couple of bites before I was done with it. It was in an old repurposed gas station, which I of course have no issue with, but for such high reviews I don't know how it got there. Maybe I got the wrong items, or messed up asking for "cajun" options, but I don't think it's a place I'd go back to. read more

I wanted to love this place. The NRV doesn't really have a designated seafood place in my opinion. Usually have to go to Roanoke and Red Lobster just doesn't count for me. So was searching online and came across this place and the pictures were beautiful. First impressions are everything and I thought the guy who seated me was rude. I was told to go sit down like a child. My waitress was very nice. Hushpuppies were good. They are sweet which was a nice contrast with the salty fried seafood platter. The platter is huge which is good. The Mac and cheese was a horrible congealed mess and didn't look anything like a previous pic I had seen. Didn't touch the tarter sauce since another review said it was "rancid" and it was already on the table when I arrived. I think tarter sauce should remain refrigerated. They have other types of food on the menu and what I find is that small restaurant businesses sometimes can't do many types of food well. So the Italian items or Greek items may be good while other items suffer. In my case, the sides weren't great. Fries slightly undercooked and the coleslaw didn't look fresh and that Mac and cheese...uhg. Would I eat here again? Maybe. I like a good fried seafood platter. I'd order it and tell them no sides at all. Lastly, I had food from another one of this owner's establishments previously under the name Ocean Bay Seafood. I can say when they were called Ocean Bay, the food was on point and I ate there all the time with a close friend. I like my seafood batter to be on the crunchier side so it could have been cooked a little longer, but it was good. My only wish is that they would splurge for deveined shrimp, but I guess that's a personal preference. read more

Wow! Their motto is "Come hungry". Boy are they right because you will leave filled and with leftovers. You can't see the ocean but their seafood was very good and fresh. They offer daily specials. We asked the hotel assistant where to eat. she said the Greek place across the road. we asked twice how it compares to another place people told us about and she said she had mixed reviews for the other place. we went to this place which is a converted gas station. It is a little local diner. I have to select non gluten foods. the waitress was no help in that. okay with me, I know what to ask and avoid but she couldn't tel me what was I the "special recipe green beans" either. they aren't special. I got a veggie plate to be safe and it was all bland. I was entitled to four veggies. I ordered three and paid extra for salad which ended up being a small salad bar of bagged lettuce and some toppings. My husband ordered the grilled scallops and they were rubber texture and he could only choke down half. the menu says "if it's good tell everyone and if it's not tell Papa Taso". We weren't ugly and we paid the bill and when he asked if it was good we said barely okay to which he groaned a little and read off what we had ordered and said nothing more. In my opinion, there was an undeserved negative review left earlier for the seafood. Sunday is a special for flounder and I opted for it broiled. I was more then pleased with that choice. There was an up charge to have it broiled. $1.00! Yes, one dollar more also included the salad bar. A simple but well kept salad bar, plus there was clam chowder included on the salad bar. Yes One more! Service was faster then even expected! We barely had our salad finished and the meals arrived piping hot. My wife choose the manicotti. Another home run! I'm wondering if maybe all the glowing reviews are from an earlier period and this place has gone downhill since? I really like to support local business, but this was just...not great. The place was visibly dirty when we came in at 6 pm on a quiet weeknight, with food and sticky spots on the ground and seating. It smelled like sort of rancid cooking oil. We came here because it was advertised as Greek food so that's what we were hoping for, and were disappointed to see only a tiny Greek corner of the menu. I understand from the other reviews that the owner is a Greek immigrant, which is a little surprising to me because the dishes tasted so intensely Americanized and bland. The chicken souvlaki was tough, no sauce or dips or anything, just a sort of oily outside with a basic herb rub. It smelled strongly of fish. The salad that comes with it turned out to be "get what you want at the salad bar," which was one of the most disappointing salad bars I've seen. The only lettuce was extremely wilted, yellow brown shredded iceberg. The dressings were in unevenly filled, poorly labeled plastic cups, which were also sticky and messy on the outside. I already had figured the broccoli I'd ordered as a side (since no Greek sides were available) would be unexciting, but it was just straight up steamed frozen broccoli.
