I've had the pleasure of knowing and working with the good folks at Baja Bound for over a decade,…read moreprimarily through my explorations in Baja reviewing food and culture as A Gringo in Mexico. These guys KNOW Baja--from Tijuana to Los Cabos and all points in between. Baja isn't just a business model for them, it's a way of life. They surf, offroad, and eat only the best fish tacos. They also know the roads and potential issues travelers might face while driving them. Full disclosure: Baja Bound have sponsored my blogging in the past. But even before our introduction, I always bought my insurance from them, based on their excellent reputation for responsiveness and support. It's easy to get your policy online, just takes ten minutes, and you can get coverage for the weekend, or the entire year. Knock on wood, I've not had an accident or been stuck in Baja, but I always feel confident that Baja Bound's information is in my glove box and that help is only a phone call away.

They give you a quote, and if you like it, you go from there. You can save and print all the documents at the end and they also give you all the phone numbers you'd need and tell you what to do to file a claim. Thankfully I didn't need to.

However, the notary, Lorena, needs to educate herself on what identification is acceptable. She attempted to turn me away with a passport card and also lectured me on the importance of knowing the exact location of my drivers license is (yawn, who hasn't misplaced their DL?) trying to tell me I needed to go find it and come back. I said it didn't really matter where my license was or why I didn't currently know where it was (none of her business anyways.) she finally stopped her rant called the 'hot line' to confirm, using passive aggressive language smugly stating ' the member has requested that I call (I did not ask her to call) When the call center confirmed my passport card was adequate identification she responded with ' Well, when did that come into law?' I've worked as a notary, Lorena may need to take a refresher course and also consider changing her attitude to more closely mirror her coworkers.

Kusay from AAA arrived with a flatbed tow truck and was blocked with a painting crew on a commercial building next door. He was kind to wait 10 mins for them to move. Then he came, put the car in neutral and we pushed it out of the garage with a neighbor's help in the driver's seat. He gave exact directions to guide us through the whole process. He then took professional control of the situation to get the car on the flatbed. So skillful. Thank you Kusay! You're the best! Stuart T.
