I've been with AAA for 30 years and they are always professional and helpful and knowledgeable which is refreshing. The renovation to this facility is excellent! It looks great and has plenty of seating. The counter is now a full circle and most services are done at it with a representative. Being able to take care of registration issues and disabled placards here is just so much better and FASTER! Today was one of those days that I could not be happier to have had AAA. One of our cars went down for some unknown reason and would not start up. It was stuck in my driveway, thankfully as we had driven it an hour away the previous day. It is a wonder that we did not get stranded on the other side of town. Thankfully, having AAA made getting our car towed to the shop, such a breeze. The quality of service when we call to get it towed and was top notch as we were handled with promptness and professionalism. Anyone who ever has had to have their car towed, knows that it could cost a pretty penny for just one towing. Cover yourself with AAA. It is well worth the value and will save you in the long run. It covers towing, gas refill, flat tire repair and also beneficial discounts when traveling. This is easily a win-win situation hands down a must have. Not sure why this location is rated anywhere close to four stars. The customer service at this AAA in La Mesa was extremely disappointing compared to other AAA offices I've visited. The staff seemed uninterested and more focused on leaving than actually helping customers. Mia in particular was rude and unprofessional, which made the experience even worse. As a new member, which I was so excited about turned out to be the worse service I've ever received. I came into this branch in regard to a reimbursement, I came in, in person because no one was helpful through email. The reception lady helped me and sent my documents herself & confirmed that it was sent. 3-4 months later I found out nothing was sent out. I came in again Heidi helped me and said they would take care of the inconvenience and talk to a manager but again nothing... till this day it's been almost a yr and I just no longer have trust in this company. AAA sent C&D Towing to me as a contractor for battery replacement services. C&D installed a new battery for $218.00. Everything seemed fine at first. When I took my car to a BMW mechanic to reset the battery, he immediately noticed the replacement wasn't the correct type. I later confirmed this with other mechanics, multiple auto parts stores, and two dealerships. I requested a replacement battery from AAA. Lo and behold, AAA dispatched the same technician/company to me the next day. The technician stated the battery was the appropriate size and type because "it's what came up under the search results for my car make/model on his mobile app." He pulled out a larger battery and said, "This is the size you think you need?! That won't fit in your car!" which was an outright lie based on the answers I had collected. I'm pretty sure he just picked up a random battery in his truck bed. He said that he even "cut me a deal" for the [incorrect] battery he installed, and that he can't tell his boss "because he'll get in trouble." I asked the technician to call his supervisor to request a replacement. The technician said his supervisor refused a replacement as all the battery options provided in the mobile app "technically fit" my car make and model. I called AAA and requested reimbursement immediately after, only to be told a refund wasn't guaranteed and could take up to four weeks for a response. The next day, I went into a local office and was told the same thing -- fill out paperwork and wait for a decision. As a longtime AAA customer, I left disappointed. The service I enjoyed for many years was severely lacking. Now, not only am I stuck with the wrong battery, I was charged nearly $100.00 more than current MSRP ($130.00) for a battery I did NOT need. The issue wasn't resolved and AAA simply said, "Maybe you'll get your money back?" I have since disputed the charges with my bank and have cancelled my AAA membership. AAA was a service industry example that set the standard for many decades but has sadly slipped into complacency. I have been a member for over 36 years, yet it took 4 1/2 hours to get a tow that was under one mile. It took over four hours to get a supervisor! This is the first time I did not get a survey, instead I got a letter that lacked concern or sincerity and simply stated that they would not charge my account with the free tow that I have used less than 12 times in 36 years. I must have been living under the rock for so long, I didn't know I could skip the line at the DMV to get my car sticker here, and for the most part still better than the self kiosk because I have to wait for the smog test result, but the kiosk won't give me my sticker until the DMV received the smog pass, so I came here for the first time, as normally I only contacted AAA for towing or roadside assistance, and I am a member for 9 years now, this is mind blowing; it's like a smaller version of the DMV without lines, no ticket numbers, just your membership and they will call your name less than 5 minutes, you get in and out fast, even though they tried to lure your for auto insurance quotes, but I had to kindly refused, the reason I came in was to save time not to spend more time, but they were nice regardless:) read more

Second time in a week the saved me! Control arm broke front end crashed to the ground. They came to give me a tow! Only took like 15 minutes for them to get there! Driver was very, very nice! She's been extremely diligent and patient in working with issues/delays on the part of the major cruise line, and was extremely effective in resolving the issues with the cruise line. AAA supports Angelos towing. Put the two together and you have a real shit show. Angelos ( thru AAA) was called at 9:00 pm, I was told one hour nobody show call back put on endless hold. 1:00am got a call saying the truck was there. AAA has done nothing, Angelos couldn't give a fuck. Why dose Angelos have contract. Somebody from AAA needs to do something, but it's all big money. I'm small pennies. Don't stand a chance. Just so many instances to mention! Every single time my son (I added him to my plan) or myself attempted to use the membership it would be one excuse or another. We subscribed to the "plus" program and were told every time we'd call we weren't eligible for a tow or a lock out service. We were supposedly eligible for 6 tows a year and maybe used 2 if we were lucky. Other than the tow service I wanted to utilize the DMV registration services. I'd rather get a root canal then go to DMV. Well the only time I was able to use this the AAA guy punched In the wrong code and guess who had to go to the DMV? Well last week I'd had enough and canceled the membership. They wouldn't tow my truck 1 block from the repair shop who couldn't fix it to my house because it wasn't an emergency! Since when does it need to be an emergency? Never read that in their plan description! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND USE THE ROADSIDE THAT COMES WITH YOUR INSURANCE POLICY! This department never returns phone calls or corrects clerical mistakes. The DMV has returned paperwork due to their missing signatures. They have taken over twelve months to correct a name change, still not corrected on all the new policy cards. AAA sent our registration renewal to the old address and now we have a late fee! I've called in eight times and have always been told a supervisor will call me back. NEVER received a call back! Currently on hold for 51minutes and counting. Supervisor will not take my call. They close in nine minutes. I'm sure to be here all night. AAA get your act together!!!! read more

This is the best AAA location (in my opinion) I arrived at 4:00 at the Telegraph Canyon location and the lady making appointments told me that the wait was about an hour and I might not be able to get in as the closed at 5:00... needless to say, I left and b lined it to this location. I was in line for about 10 minutes, while in line, a young man asked what services I was going in for, he gave me all forms that I would need. We have had our house and cars insured with AAA for over twenty years and have been satisfied. As for this location, sometimes it's five stars and sometimes three. I have noticed that they have a high employee turnover, so don't expect to deal with the same person twice. I find this location especially helpful when renewing my tags, as you get the sticker immediately when you pay. read more

One of AAA's insured motorists ran into my parked car, causing $5500 in damages and requiring me to rent a car for about a month. AAA paid for the damages and also the car rental expense and one small incidental expense.
