We love coming to ride the current down the boat ramp. Good rock hunting here too, I actually found a 1930s aviation spark plug in the river last time I was here! Very cool. Lots of geese and duck poop though so watch out! read more

We went walking along the river Rockhounding for 45 mins or so. Picked up a few pieces that looked interesting. A small river rock with an amber crystal cluster embedded in the rock's fracture was exposed and a chunk of jasper. It's a small park on the river that had swings for kids, and decent views. Was looking for a few agates but didn't find any. Geese had the place under control lol. read more

Stumbed onto this park one afternoon while out to lunch with the kids, so we stopped by to enjoy our food outside. Wandered down by the water and watched the ducks, seagulls and geese bathing and swimming. Of course, as soon as the birds saw the kids eating French Fries, it was all over! In waves they came up the beach, cawing, honking and quacking, much to the kids' delight. They were able to feed the animals, which were assertive but not aggressive, laughing the whole time! Since I know French Fries are not ideal for the birds, and as I always carry a tub of bird feed in the car (I have an affinity for crows and ravens, so I feed them everywhere I go), we substituted out the starchy sticks for a healthier option, which the birds were just as keen on devouring. Some of the more agile seagulls were even able to catch the seeds and nuts in mid-flight! Impressive! As for the rest of the park, there are several walking/jogging/biking trails, picnic tables, sandy beaches, streams, a skate park, boat ramp, public restrooms (closed), at least two porta-potties (in decent enough shape, and ample parking for cars, trucks and RVs). All in all, a pretty great riverside park! I'd come back just for the birds, but the park itself seems like a great place to walk, jog, bike, or have a picnic on a sunny afternoon. read more

Now, I have been to Clackamette Park more than once, and I must say, I have more than plenty of neat and positive things to say about it. Basically, to start with, there are some great biking trails for those who bring their bikes, and hiking trails for those who prefer getting their exercise by walking. Of course, the hiking trails are also great for those who are nature photographers. And speaking of which, I highly recommend bringing a camera for when you want to take some nature shots of this park; there are plenty of trees and plants to take photos of. Also, the ducks, geese and seagulls sure are pretty neat when they are seen bathing and swimming in their own unique way, too. (I do suggest bringing some bread with you when you come to this park; when the geese, ducks and seagulls are hungry, they appreciate the bread regardless.) I highly recommend Clackamette Park for those who like nature, hiking and nature photography, and I also give it five stars (although ten stars would be even better). :) read more

This review is not speaking to the main park, but rather to Clackamette Cove right down the street. I'm just learning stand-up paddle boarding rather late in life, and Clackamette Cove is the perfect place to practice paddling and train your balance without having to worry about currents or wakes. Very pretty spot too with birdwatching potential. Parking is plentiful in the gravel lot to the east by the roundabout. read more

For what it is and where it is, Clackamette Park gets 4 stars. One can live in the area for years and could conceivably not even know this park is here. The park is right next to, but down a ways in terms of elevation, from busy McLoughlin Boulevard. That damn McDonald's at the signal may be blocking your view of it. The listing shows an Oregon City address because it is on the south side of the smaller Clackamas River as it flows into the northward flowing Willamette River. This then implies that being on the north bank of the Clackamas River puts someone in "Happy Rock." This park has a nice shoreline and stands of trees, typical park amenities, lots of parking (including parking for cars with trailers), a place to put in your boat, a place to fish, a place to feed the ducks, or just a place to park your car and take a look around. I wonder how they came up with the name Clackamette. It sounds like a fusion of Native American and French. The Clackamas Indians occupied this region prior to statehood and the Clackamas Territory is acutally on both Oregonian and Washingtonian soil. The addition of "ette" makes it sound Frenchy, which is cool. Now, could a Clackamette be a young deb in training who lives in nicer digs east of I-205 and loves Clackamas Town Center? That sounds plausible. This would then mean that a Clackameister is one of those dudes in a lowered Honda Civic coupe with an oversized exhaust pipe, who blasts his music such that your car will vibrate if adjacent to you at a signal, who power lifts with his cronies, and who makes for a matched set with a Clackamette. The etymology of words and names is interesting, isn't it? I always thought Clackamette Park ran all the way down to that almost contiguous park with the southernmost boat ramp and the more direct view of the Willamette Falls in Oregon City. It doesn't. That park is called Jon Storm Park. I'll roll it into this review and consider it a subset of Clackamette Park, giving the whole "package deal" 4 stars. It's nice to have outdoor spaces like this close to and almost tucked away from a never-ending strand of suburban strip malls. read more

This is a fair little park. Once a year they throw the Oregon city pioneer festival which is not the glory it was once. The pair isn't very large and they've added a large section for RV's which doesn't do it any favors. I like to come here to feed the birds late spring thru early fall. There is also a skate park for people who are into that. I used to go there all the time. Bathrooms are gnarly and the river is pretty gross.. 3/5 easy. read more

Good access to the water and outdoors. The water can be a little swift so be sure to wear your life jacket and be able to paddle.

Super fun park. Has a skate park, campground, swimming opportunities, and you can feed the mass amounts of ducks and geese. This place really shuts down during the winter though, as the rainfall makes the river extremely high, and causes a lot of mud around the park. Its still a fun place to relax during the winter, but becomes something completely different during the summer. read more

I stayed here for 2 weeks during late June/early July of this year. I can sincerely say that it was nothing but enjoyable. My husband loved it here, I loved it here - even our dogs loved it here! Parked in the front row, facing the river. I would sit with a cup of joe in my hands and watch the early fishers in their boats, so quiet and peaceful. It is walking distance to Starbucks, McDonald's, Subway, and a family-run Thai restaurant. The geese were the most amusing part of my stay. Watching them cross the street was comical! I'm only sorry that rules say you can only stay 14 days at a time. You can stay a total of 28 days per year, but there must be at least 4 days in between. One final note: we had 3 sets of camp hosts that rotated each day, and not one of them was rude. Quite the contrary, they were all pleasant and helpful. We'll definitely be coming back. read more

This is a city park by the river. The bank is more rocky than sandy. There is a boat ramp. The water that day was looking pretty calm. When we arrived, there were people kayaking and paddling on the river. There was also a handful of fishers which puzzles me because with so much activity on the river, including people throwing rocks for fun, how are you going to catch any fish? It is right off the I205 ramp so very easy to find. There is plenty parking. Lots of picnic tables and also a skate park if that is what you're about. I had a very enjoyable time sitting by the river and reading my book with the sun beating down on me. Fortunately, there's also plenty of shade and if you have an awesome wide brim hat, like I did, you're all set! read more

Ok...let me start by saying I understand this is a city park, but it does advertise itself as an RV PARK also. With that said, it's not too bad. You're right on the river, pretty much where ever you park, and I've yet to see it full. There's an attached park, with a skate park for those with kids/grandkids and a short walk to a small strip mall, food, banks & even an immediate care clinic. Fishing is abundant and both Oregon City & Gladstone are just "up the road." Now, here are my gripes. 1) The "hosts" are very standoff-ish. 2) They let you know upon arrival that the gate closes at 10pm...yes, you are locked in (or worse yet, OUT) at 10pm. You can park off-site, but it's a small walk on an unlit path that is VERY uneven and covered in goose crap. 3) There are no real facilities. No showers and the only bathroom (another long unlit walk across an uneven field covered in goose crap) is locked at dusk and opened again at 9am. 9AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, they say they open it at a much earlier hour (we've been told by both hosts anywhere from 5am to 9am)...but it's a total crap shoot as to when you can get in. And, apparently, dusk has many definitions as I've found the bathroom locked as early as 6pm. We call this our "last resort" place...and that means that Wal-Mart is full. Excellent place for a walk, but the restrooms are usually unusable or very dirty. There is a water fountain attached, it is available during warm months. On Sunday afternoons, there is an Amtgard group that often meetup there to fight; fun to watch or join in, and the members are always looking for newcomers. Lastly, I have never been to the skatepark, but I've never heard anything bad about it, other than the occasional injury. All around a fun place to maybe bring the family or hangout with friends. read more

Best price I could find to stop in the greater Portland area and not have to worry about getting ripped off by the tweakers that roam the streets in giant packs here. Park host was emotionally controlling and very rude and she accused me of something that was false and I asked her about it and I told her it was incorrect so I turned and walked away and she screamed at me don't walk away from me but I kept going because I don't like to confrontation so she literally screamed at me again that I was kicked out so we hooked up our brand new camper and went to get our money credited back to her account and she kept my $250 for no reason but only out of maliciousness intent I will be reporting her to Clackamas County parks read more

ATTACK OF THE BIRDS! Not really, but there are many and I wouldnt want to be there if someone didnt have bread to offer. It seems like its that type of park where someone is always feeding the ducks, birds, geese...waterfowl! Its a nice open park that leads right down to the water and when in season, a great place to fish. Not much to play with for the kids, however Im sure they would get a kick out of feeding the ducks etc. Our dog loved it and we did let him off a little to play in the water. Rocky in some areas towards the water, so be careful and of course with birds come their mess, so try and avoid stepping on their little bombs. It was windy that day and a little rainy, however as always step under one of the trees to get out of the rain. I would come back to let our dog play in the water and walk around for a nice stroll and beautiful view. read more

Nice little park at the intersection of the Clackamas and Willamette rivers. There is a decent restroom here and plenty of wild birds to feed. There are many picnic benches in a rather large grassy area with trees. This is easily the best park in the OC/Gladstone area. Lots of bird poop though. read more

Great place to watch Salmon jumping as they migrate upstream in the fall. It gets pretty filled with trash due to fisherpeople, but other than that it is a very nice park. read more
