It's more of a butte in height, rather than a mountain, so don't let the name discourage or mislead you. They have a parking lot at the top and a loop trail with inclines you can explore in under an hour. There's also a large covered picnic shelter at the top with attached restroom facilities. They have a couple of open, grassy areas if you want to play frisbee or bring some other yard games. At the moment (October 2023), the only downside was there is a new residential subdivision being built next to it, so there was a lot of construction noise on that side of the trail.

I especially love Carver Park, because there is a stream that flows into it which is not too deep and my dog can normally chase ball all the way across it. When I went to the park yesterday, the water levels were so high that there were like a torrent. My dog was able to follow the tennis ball down the clear creek without getting swept into the river, so I was happy. This would be dangerous for less fit dogs.

Carver boat ramp seems like just another simple country river boat launch, but stop by on any…read moreaverage summer weekend day and witness the most awesome collection of helmets, rednecks, river-rats, and other assorted Americana. Carver is the take-out spot for the infamous McIver-Carver and Barton-Carver floats down the Clackamas river. This mostly (seemingly) calm 3-5 hour float takes you down the Clackamas amongst beautiful green trees and throngs of beer-drinking teenagers to thirty-somethings. What should otherwise be a fairly off-the-beaten-path float becomes as crowded as your average day at the water-park, but with way more beer and moronity. To be fair, it's an insanely fun float, and were it not wall-to-wall with people, the water would be decently clean. The surface makes it look like a calm river, but people die on it on just about a weekly basis. That's not to say that you can't chill out and have a safe float. A little respect for mother nature goes a long way. But come the end of your float, hop on out by the time you reach the boat launch. That's presumably where you parked your escape vehicle earlier in the day, it's where hundreds of drunken post-float kids congregate to decide where they'll be continuing the party, and it's the location where I watched a mother cry in agony when she was told that her child had just been sucked under about 50 yards downstream under the bridge (past the boat ramp). It was intense. Not much of anything awesome to say about the park/launch itself, other than that it has bathrooms and if you get there early enough, places to park one of your cars (you'll need it at the end of the float to go back up and get the car you left upstream at Barton!) Be safe, have fun, and don't swim downstream under that big-ass bridge! A river this large deserves your respect.

I had emailed a few other companies, she was the only one to get back to me(luckily). She replied very quickly to any question I had prior to the tour. The van was very clean and new! We hit 3 amazingly beautiful wineries on this tour. I came in only wanting one winery in particular and Janine did a great job picking the other two. Kramer vineyards could not be more perfect. Overall the tour was more than I expected! We will definitely be using this company again on our next visit! I would highly recommend this company to anyone!

But starting from the Oregon Zoo could be good idea since there is a lot of signage out there. Look for the 4T sign and keep following it. All Trails has the route too. The Zoo entrance has the entire map as well. The hike up to Council Crest and then to OHSU was great! Very shaded and great elevation. Taking the tram was so fun, the view of city was so beautiful and I fell in love with Portland all over again. The trolleycar has a frequency of 30 mins from OHSU commons so if you miss that one there is a long wait or you could take the bus or train. Getting back to the zoo is easy with a lot of options. The beautiful day was an added bonus. All in all a GREAT day playing tourist in my own city!

We started at the Pioneer Courthouse…read morebought a $5 adult ticket for adults and $2.50 ticket for kids (all day pass) for MAX - we got off at the Oregon Zoo and walked the trails to Columbia Crest - we had a small picnic there before proceeding to OHSU ( about 4 miles of walking) and then took the aerial tram (free downhill )to South Water Front. We took the street car (covered in the all day pass) and did the outer city loop - the trail took us about 4 hours and gave us a wonderful sense of what the city was about. If you want to take a bus to a specific destination for a happy hour afterwards ( your bus ride is covered in your all day pass) - highly recommended !!! The 4 T's - trails, train, trolley and tram ( if you were wondering)

I am very appreciative of all the help they gave me. They wanted me to be well and comfortable with my decisions. The hike itself was all I had hoped for. I wanted to learn the ropes of backpacking. And even though I was farther along in my knowledge then when I signed up in 2019, I still learned a ton. Alexis was our guide and she was always ready, willing and able to answer any questions we had. And we had a lot of questions. Alexis knew what she was doing and gave her knowledge freely. The views were spectacular. The campsites both nights were right on a lake. The hike was hard but doable for this 65yr old. Highly recommond.

Friday the 20th I went to the Columbia river and saw a bird, about 30 yards off shore and s/he was…read moreunable to fly or freely swim in the water. It was frantic and flailing around. I waited for hours for help, calling everyone possible; from the Audobon society to every local agency and wildlife rescue I could. I only got voicemail. Two kayakers tried to lure the bird to the shore but were unable to move around in the water well enough to catch the bird. After a few hours we gave up. I was heartbroken. Sunday the 22nd I returned to the river with my dog, sure the bird had died within minutes of me leaving 2 days prior, and the bird was still there and alive. I called Stok Outfitters and the owner, Manuel Mendoza rushed down there and was there within an hour. He is so skilled in the water that he caught the bird within minutes of being out there. The bird was rescued and uninjured. I would feel extremely safe going on an adventure with Stok Outfitters. Mr. Mendoza is a highly competent outdoorsman and has a good heart on top of it.
