While driving in, I happened to see an employee and I asked him what time his store opens. He said to me "we are open". It was 733AM. Yep, drove up, closed. How does an employee not know their own hours? Was he just being a jerk? Is he really that dumb? Not a big deal except I was in a hurry to get somewhere and wound up going to Walmart anyway. At least they seem to know their own hours.

I felt like two of the salesgirls / saleswomen stalked me because they thought I was gonna steal one of their 'hand-made, unique pieces." Insert eye roll. Both salesgirls were attractive (in a natural / 'modelesque' way), thin, young- looking blondes. They were standing around talking loudly with someone (customer? friend? manager?) when I entered - but they abandoned that conversation as I headed towards the back. Salesgirl 1 approached me and asked if she could help me find anything. When I responded, she said, quite loudly, that they didn't have any. Less than 90 seconds later, Salesgirl 2 approached me and asked if she could help me find anything. Unless Salesgirl 2 has hearing issues - I found it unnecessary and odd that she would follow me and ask me a question that I had clearly already answered. I hung around for a few minutes - just to keep them on their toes - but I decided NOT to shoplift anything today. Lol. If you don't want to be ignored - try black-face or an afro - they'll smother you with attention! To end things on a positive note - the store interior and aesthetics are pretty nice. The textured, unpolished cement floors, horse fashioned from driftwood - the mannequins with big poofs of hydrangeas simulating afros - it was all lovely.

Before I made the trip to Lizards & Lollipopz I placed a call to see if they had what I needed…read more Wanda answered the phone and was graciously patient and kind to answer all my questions. I desired a stuffed animal for a terminally ill young person. Wanda suggested that get one with a lavendar scent. I had never heard of such, but I was intrigued. She offered to set aside a bag of stuffed animals for me to look through when I visited the store. Fortunately, the store is conveniently located in the beautifully decorated Marietta Square. I was also able to slide into a free parking space right in front of the door. When I walked inside the store, it was like walking into a child's dream. Toys were everywhere, but they were very organized. Wanda was clocked out for the evening when I arrived, but a nice young man had received Wanda's instructions and knew exactly what I was after. He showed me a few stuffed animals, but my heart swelled with the cute little animals that you heat in the microwave and the soft scent of lavender permeates the air. I never would have imagined they had something like this on the market. What a wonderful idea! I hope this animal brings some comfort to this beautiful young soul who is really going through it healthwise!

I came shopping with my friend whose daughter is having a baby. They have stuff from new born all the way up to school grades. One of the reasons we popped in here was because a blogger had recommend this shop as a place to get non-high tech toys which we are all in favor of. They certainly have lots of old fashioned, non toxic, non-techie toys for those looking for a more organic and tactile childhood experience for their children. Highly recommend them...

As always, they had a lot of clearance, I had a coupon for full price goods, and I had store rewards coupon so I walked out of there with $40 worth of paints but only spent $25. On the weekends the parking lot is a zoo and sometimes people just zoom behind you while you're backing out like you don't exist but you get those drivers everywhere. When you're coming out of the parking lot and wanting to turn back onto Barrett Parkway; this can be a challenge. There is a center chicken lane that all of the other stores empties out of and sometimes you have to wait quite a while before you can maneuver your way outta there. (Personally I just make a right like I'm going to the Joanne's behind here and make a quick U turn at the light by Joe's Crab Shack....) If you're looking for crafty stuff. This is a good spot to start...

CALLING ALL LADIES AND GENTS WHO WEAR PANTS!…read more As you have no doubt noticed, a good leather belt is becoming increasingly difficult to find. Even the ones that are leather just don't seem to last. Also, I'm seeing more of the once trusted designers resort to vegan leather and that is just not an option. We have started purchasing our leather belts at festivals from vendors who specialize in leather products. They usually carry belts and leather accessories for men women and children, in a variety of colors and designs. We simply need belts that can do the job and will last for more than a season. We saw this particular vendor at a recent festival and immediately thought of our son who could use something more substantial of his jeans and cargo pants. They were able to cut his precise size out of a roll of leather. It is substantially heavier than anything we could purchase from a store and he really likes it. Next time you are at a festival, look for the leather guys. Remember that no matter how large you are, they can cut something just for your size. Prices are always great!

I hate shopping so much I asked my sister to find me outfits online, and when they arrived, nothing fit or looked right so I broke down made myself go while I was on a trip in Atlanta. I went to the nearest shopping center and went to the first store I saw - Lizard Thicket - the sale sign spoke to me. I was the only one in the store that early which was great - I hate people, too. After a few mins of looking around, I was approached by the sweetest sales girl, I think her name was Madison? I'm horrible at names. Told her how much I hated shopping, but I needed outfits. She literally went around the whole store with me to find outfits,stayed with me in the dressing room, and even helped me a few buttons and zippers. I ended up getting 4 dresses and a skirt - for $120!! They have a great selection and was having a great sale. The regular prices are not bad for a boutique, and it's a really cute store. I was so happy to have my entire shopping done in one trip, and it truly felt like having my sister with me. I made sure to let the lady who checked me out know how much I appreciate her, and she told me that Madison? was new and was only there for a week! Although I still hate shopping, this experience has been one for the books.
