She saved my brother's life and our family/friends' lives in turn! (We wouldn't know what to do without my brother) While my friend and I were trying to help find a place for my brother, Debbie was trying to help even though we didn't think he had the correct insurance for Transformations Care. Debbie helped my friend for countless hours and eventually they were able to figure out insurance to get my brother to Transformations. The fact that she was helping my friend even though we didn't think we could get my brother to Transformations, truly shows that this place has the best of intentions. Debbie wants to help people in need get to the road to recovery! She made the road to recovery so much easier than it could have been. She made my brother feel welcome, normal, and loved. Debbie reassured me and my family consistently by sending us photos of her and my brother. Recovery is hard - Debbie made it easier for him and I am forever grateful. I was referred to TCI and knew I needed to go, but didn't want to go. That all changed once I got there. TCI changed my life and forced me to look in a mirror and get comfortable with being uncomfortable and face the parts of me that have been anchoring me from true freedom and inner peace. The program they run is rigourous and caused some serious brain pain, but I was able to break through parts of me that have I've been hiding for most of my life. Each person has their own style of doing things and contributed different things that I needed to receive while I was there, and to me, it was the perfect staff. From crying, to laughing, to being vulnerable and feeling comfortable enough to dig deep and share things with perfect strangers that I've never shared with anyone else; I've never felt more safe, heard, and just allowed to be myself without judgement. Instead I was met with compassion, understanding, and comfort. I don't trust people easily, and I trust every person at TCI with my life, because they not only changed my life, they saved my life. If I name one person in this review, I'm going to have to name all of them (that's a long list), but I was able to go home with the tools I know will help me manage my recovery on a daily basis, and because of that, my fears have lost power over me. I'm eternally grateful to each and every staff member at TCI. Thank you for your kindness, love and care (and for the brain pain experienced from being forced to be honest with myself). I am eternally grateful. This is the place to go if you want to experience true freedom from self. When I feel some sort of way, all I have to do is remember the advice and suggestions and feedback I received during my time at TCI, and I know there's hope that I will be ok. I also know that it's ok to not be ok, but it doesn't have to stay that way.. a lesson that has changed my life in just a short period of time. They have opened their homes and meetings to me and I am grateful. Their Thursday night house meeting is fun to attend and includes people currently living in the sober living as well as alumni who are actively working 12 step programs. It's wonderful to see how many people they have helped at this meeting. Okay so another important thing...the food is incredible. David is a food connoisseur and always has an excellent spread. It doesn't matter if it is catered from a local restaurant or prepared by their personal chef...it's always hearty and delicious. I've had everything from kabob to Honey's Kettle Fried Chicken to pizza to homemade Mac and Cheese with truffle oil and ham...very Southern style...always something yummy! If that's not enough...Janel is an avid baker and always has cookies, brownies and other sweet treats! They are generous & giving...In addition to helping people recover from their addictions they run a non-profit for chis, Chi Angeles Rescue and Chi Angeles Happy Tails. I recommend David Marvin and Janel Faraci without reservation. Free water and tea as well. We only saw the game room, dining area, and the beverage area. It looks like there is some kind of mtg room or screening room too. Staff was very friendly and nice. I did not see any parking but I found a street parking spot. Worst case, park at VONS and cross the street. The residents were fun, chatty, grateful, and happy which speaks well to the place. On my own accord,…read moreI had followed the ravages of addiction and alcoholism into the darkest depths of hell before my teen years were even over. I was an angry, depressed, psychotic, and near-schizophrenic kid due to my pursuit of the bag and the bottle into oblivion. I was told all my life I was a prodigy, a genius, a wunderkind. All I saw was pain and misery and failure due to my disease and my actions. I was entirely lost. I had chosen to be homeless on the streets of L.A. for quite some time instead of accepting help. My selfish actions and resulting consequences are what led me to The Last House, and my final plea to God and family for help. When I entered The Last House, I was a sucked-up shell of a person, who was hearing voices and having hallucinations and homicidal and suicidal thoughts constantly. All of that was to change. The Last House did for me what I could not possibly do for myself. The staff and the residents welcomed me with open arms and accepted me for who I was and not for who I believed I was. That was the crucial part that shocked me initially. I was angry, selfish, egotistical, and dishonest. The Last House showed me how to grow up, how to be kind, how to have faith in my fellow man and in God. But most importantly, it showed me how to have faith in myself!!! | was fighting against it for awhile, because I was in so much fear of accepting real life and fighting against my demons. But I was to overcome that fear and learn infinitely more about God, AA, the 12 Steps, and camaraderie. I graduated the Last House in late 2014 after working The Steps with a sponsor who also was a Last House alumni, and I was so comfortable and happy in that place, I decided to stay on as a live-in manager for months after graduating, as I wanted to give back what had been so freely given to me, in a debt that could never be repaid. The Last House is a pivotal staple in my life, I confidently promise you all that I would not be alive today nor be the man I am if it weren't for every single person in that program. I am forever grateful for The Last House, and I would highly encourage anyone who struggles with the grasps of addiction and/or alcoholism to trust in them and give yourself to the program. It really DOES work if you work it, I am one of countless other examples of how it does! I will always stay connected to my brothers and family that I've met along this path of recovery, and it's all thanks to "The Last House on the block". The facility is lovely, the residence were interacting with each other and enjoying various activities. My uncle's room is exactly as I hoped - a real bedroom & bathroom with a lil kitchenette. (Not hospital or rehab generic) While all I've mentioned above is important - the real reason we selected GOP, TEAM WORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK! The administrators, health, care and support staff are truly impressive. The director, Judah is fantastic. He is very knowledgeable, compassionate and KNOWS every resident. He has assembled a professional and personable team to run this facility like a clock! This team has gone above and beyond the call of duty to help with get my uncle settled in and provided updates to put my mind at ease. My uncle moved in last week (7-11-19) so stay tuned for updates.
