This medical center is a little bit weird to get to; if you're going for the first time I would…read morehonestly recommend plugging it into your gps and follow the instructions exactly because if you make the wrong turn onto the wrong exit you'll probably end up going down the freeway in either direction. It looks like it's right next to the freeway, but it's actually below/behind it. The parking situation was a little confusing as a guest too - there's a big lot on on the left of the med center itself which was totally full to my eye when I came on a Tuesday in April. I wasn't sure if it was staff only so I ended up driving further away to another open lot to the southwest of the med center. I didn't see any signs indicating payment was required and I asked an EMS staff member who was hanging out there and he said it was fine for guests. There is a wellness walkway that runs around the perimeter of the hospital and I had to walk along it to get to the main entrance - I was pretty fast and it was still a 10-15 minute walk so bear that in mind. Coming inside, you check in with the guard and show your drivers license which they scan to give you a visitor's pass. The med center is basically a giant cross shape with north, south, east, and west wings so it's easy to navigate. Any staff member or security agent can give you directions to wherever you need to go. There are central elevators in the middle that take you to the inpatient area; the first floor seems pretty much all outpatient clinics, plus the ED. I could tell it was an older building, but it was clearly still functional/not in disrepair or anything. There's a decent size cafeteria in the southwest area with a good size Starbucks too - I didn't eat there but the food actually looked pretty good for a med center cafeteria. They had both hot food and pre-made things (hot and cold). I came here as a visiting medical resident so I cant comment on the healthcare services but the outpatient clinics seem nice!

I visited the allergy and immunology care and they were very helpful and the receptionist is super friendly and personable. Unfortunately, I left some medications here by accident and they were not kept, nor was I notified. I called and received no call back. So, lesson learned, don't leave anything you need there or they throw it out. I do like the level of concern and most of them smile which is nice.

I wish I read the reviews before coming here. I had an Extremely disappointing experience with UCLA…read moreHealth billing and patient care. I scheduled an appointment specifically for a urine test that had already been ordered ahead of time. The visit itself was very brief, and afterward my specimen was allegedly lost by the office. Despite this error being completely outside of my control, I was still charged $320 for the visit and another $200 for the follow up visit to tell me the specimen was lost. Throughout my experience, I often felt like the focus was more on billing my insurance than actually providing meaningful patient care. Multiple visits felt unnecessary and transactional, rather than genuinely focused on resolving the issue. What's most frustrating is the complete lack of accountability. Instead of resolving the issue fairly, I received unanswered emails, calls and generic responses from billing and staff stating the charges would remain unchanged. Patient concerns seemed dismissed rather than genuinely addressed. After speaking with others, it appears this may not be an isolated experience. I expected significantly better communication, professionalism, and patient care from a major healthcare system.

And to make matters more difficult, the drive into LA was long...and I had to use the bathroom...eek! As I walked to the busy food area, I walked passed the medical center and figured....they should have a bathroom. And they did! Solving my first problem and ready to eat, I was exiting but walked passed the busy in-house cafeteria. Wow was it busy! I was here...so I decided to check it out...and it was fantastic. There were many food stations and everything being made to order. Why walk down to the populated busy food area when there are wonderful options so close by! There were almost too many options...but I decided on the tostada salad. I got it loaded with beans, chicken, lettuce, cheese, olives, green onion, and pico...all on top of a baked shell. It was very delicious and as a combo, it came with a medium drink...which all totaled about eleven dollars. If I need to go to Pauley Pavilion again...I will stop here for sure!

I received a phone message from UCLA saying my Health Insurance denied my lung cancer surgery…read morescheduled for a week away. I called my Health Insurance and they said "nonsense, it had been approved weeks earlier" and I held the Willie Wonka golden ticket best coverage possible. UCLA never contacted me correcting their false information and it was hell living through this trying to get it corrected. On top of that: My letter to UCLA patient care: I was a patient at UCLA Reagan about 2 months ago. 16 gauge needles were incorrectly used, way over sized, improperly placed and could have caused nerve damage in my hand. If you disagree I have several seasoned, experienced RNs on hand that would gladly discuss this with you. They were horrified at my treatment, as were some UCLA hospital staff. Read that; some. After my surgery I awoke from anesthesia in recovery. No pain medication was available because the pharmacy was closed for lunch an hour then it would be another hour after it opened to fill the prescription. Think about having a lung resection and awaking to excruciating pain no relief. I reported these nightmares to UCLA Patient Care and no one is listening, no response. No supervision during these ordeals either. Days later Doctors approved my release and the staff forgot about me. Family waiting to take me home and I was lost in the system. Is anyone paying attention to patient care? You claim you listen and you care, in all sincerity I have heard nothing after reporting all this. I have a legitimate concern, and I am being ignored. Nurses say I was the best patient ever, so it's nothing triggering these horror experiences that I did.

Man, whoever the receptionist chick is, she's SO BAD!…read more I arrived on time for my doctor's appointment but didn't get seen for an hour. I get it, the doctor has to deliver babies so it's fine. I really liked the doctor I saw...Dr. Layne Kumetz, she's super nice and addresses all the issues. Only problem is, she's only in once a week for 3 hours. So back to the receptionist girl, every time she answers the phone she responds like you're the biggest inconvenience, and any time you have a question, she says "i don't know." I had some questions about some bills, she was no help at all and was always in a rush to get off the phone with you. Honestly, having to deal with the receptionist girl has totally turned me off this place. Don't go here if you have decent insurance, they're unorganized and very unhelpful.

Kohan, M.D. I trusted Dr. Kohan during one of the most vulnerable times of my life, after suffering a heart attack and stroke, and he completely failed me. Instead of providing care, he abandoned me when I needed medical support the most. No proper doctor should deny service to a patient, it goes against their oath and it's illegal. was respectful and kind, and all I asked was why he didn't get my ER reports and done proper follow-up care. Dr. Kohan was fully aware that my insurance had denied me care for years, and even warned me that if I stayed in the same group, I wouldn't survive. Yet instead of advocating for me, he turned into part of the Blue Shield nightmare. Alongside Blue Shield of California, he resorted to making up false stories--accusing me of "bad behavior" and even inventing imaginary phone calls that never happened--instead of addressing my real and documented health needs. I presented email evidence, yet they continue to slander me instead of acting as health professionals. This is not healthcare, it is abuse. Shame on both Dr. Kohan and Blue Shield for their lies and retaliation against an innocent patient. Stay far away from this doctor, Blue Shield, and these kinds of unethical practices.
