A few months ago I stumbled upon a groupon for Clarity Wellness Spa for a one hour massage and facial! I just redeemed that groupon and I have to say it was the best massage/facial that I have ever experienced. The massage/facial was done by Claire (the owner). She first greeted me with tea and pleasant conversation. After filling out the simple questionaires, she listened to my list of body aches and concerns. I have chronic back pain and whiplash in my neck as well as a sprained rotatory cuff and was praying for even a little bit of relief. Lo and behold I left feeling new and refreshed. I literally had no pain which was so wonderful as I haven't experienced that in years for my back and months for my neck /shoulder. I couldnt be happier and am very thankful to Claire! Overall, great experience! The facial was very relaxing as well. The products she uses are organic and she actually uses herbs as well. Loved my time at this spa! The massage was exactly what I'd hoped it would be - enough pressure to work on some knotty muscles, but gentle enough to be relaxing and stress-relieving. Clair made sure that she knew what I wanted (and didn't want) before she began. She is professional, knowledgable, and skilled. I also really enjoyed the spa's signature massage cream with lavender and lemongrass - so heavenly that I bought some to take home with me. I went to this place for an organic facial and a massage and overall it was a good experience. There were only a few minor "glitches" that made the experience NOT a five star. Forgive my pickiness. Facial: The facial itself was nice and my face looked great afterward. However, rather than examining my skin and evaluating what I needed, she merely asked me what kind of skin I had and went right to work. About halfway into the facial I found out that she didn't do extractions. This could have been my fault, but most places I have been to offer them. Most times, when I have a facial I am left alone in the room with the mask or exfoliant while I relax. This time the woman stayed in the room, which I thought was odd, but not awful. Wasn't sure if I should have talked? She also didn't have a professional steam machine (or didn't use one) and I didn't feel like I had the "pore opening" experience with one. Massage: Solid experience with nothing spectacular, but really no complaints. Overall: No small envelopes for gratuity, which made me feel awkward Employees didn't have aprons or "spa" coats, so I felt like I was going to my friend's house to get a massage. No more than 20 minutes later received a call from Claire asking if I'd like a 4:30pm appointment. When I got there the place looked very average from the outside. But once in I was warmly greeted by Claire. I received an hour massage from Melissa who was AMAZING. She really did a wonderful job getting to all my problem areas. Went here while visiting my husband's family in CT. I got two yelp deals, one for me and one for my husband and they were very accommodating about letting us use both of those for a couple's massage. I got a deep tissue and had an amazing masseuse, the pressure was just right, the temperature in the room was perfect. And that is a great compliment coming from me who has had many many different massage from different places. I felt like it was worth the money. She's in a refurbished Victorian on the Green in Milford, with plenty of parking. The spa was clean and very comfortable and cozy. I was given a gift certificate to this spa, sadly I'm a lifetime resident of Milford who had never experienced this spa until this week. I called and left a voicemail requesting an appointment the following morning which I knew was probably unrealistic. Clair got back to me within the half hour and I got the appointment time I requested. I've had a hard year , and I know we all go through hard times but something about the sense of calm when I walked into this spa just made me release and I used poor Suzi as my therapist. We chatted and talked for quite some time and because she had an open morning she made sure I still received the hour massage. The massage I had here was the best massage I've ever had. I was more than relaxed when leaving. Really excellent experience. I got the organic facial and 1 hr swedish massage (a group purchase). The two women were so nice and pleasant. The facial was so relaxing that I think I actually fell asleep for a few moments and my skin felt so wonderful afterwards. Clean spa with relaxing setting. I went for a prenatal massage and have already scheduled a followup massage. The staff there was very courteous. My massage therapist was able to find and get rid of all my back knots and shoulder knots. Scheduling does take some planning- I left a message and they called back within 36hrs but their services are well worth the extra planning. read more
