I was very disappointed today with the service I received in this store. I have used them in the past and they were good. Today the lady at the counter , tone was loud and condescending. She incorrectly charged me for the item on a credit card and I questioned her. She did not seem to know how or was interested in making the correction. My friend ordered a kitchen appliance and had it installed from Clarks Appliance. She is a loyal customer to Clarks for decades. When Clarks arrived, the man wasn't wearing a mask. One of the best appliance shopping experiences I've had. The store The showroom is clean, well lit, and organized. They have several kitchen displays showcasing their inventory. From what I could tell, prices aren't displayed on the merchandise, but, maybe I wasn't looking hard enough. For my visit, I went in specifically for a dishwasher and wasn't price shopping as much as feature shopping - I just don't recall seeing price stickers on the dishwashers at least. They specialize in GE products and the selection is a bit limited, but, honestly - how many different versions of the same product can a person need to shop? The shopping The store has a couple people there to assist and answer questions. At no time did I feel sold to. When I went in, I was greeted and stated what I was looking for. After a few questions, I was given a tour of some models, got my questions answered, and made an informed choice. I really like that there was no "close" or push to buy - just information. The purchase Like any place, cash or credit. The price was very competitive and they do a basic price match to the national stores (without me having to ask for it). The unit I got was discounted about $150.00. The delivery and installation Here's where Clark's shines in a way that no national competitor can. They've been in business for 50 plus years. They've had a long time staff that knows the Raytown community, and more specifically, are familiar with many of the old house designs here. The delivery guys were super professional and friendly. They took care when bringing the new unit in (and hauling the old away) that they didn't damage anything in the house. They were even conscious of my dogs and taking care to verify the dogs weren't near the front door before going in and out. So here's the gold star - I have a 70 year old home. I know it's complicated to install things and I know something always goes wrong. The expertise from the Clark's installers minimized that - they know how to work with my environment. There were some crazy encounters that they were patient with and took care of. At one point, there was a plumbing issue that was going to stop progress. Clark's, being a community staple, has a recommended handyman who we called and walked through what we found. He was right over that afternoon to take care of the plumbing issue and keep the install on track. I guarantee, from past experience, that the national chains subcontracted installers would have either done it wrong, or thrown their hands up and tell me to call somebody else. Not the Clark's guys - It didn't phase them one bit. RACIST!!!! If you are African American don't go. Spend your money where you are treated with respect. The owner and staff are Racist. I went to Clarks Appliances on Oct 26,2020 to buy an in wall oven. I was treated very rudely. When I walked into the store the sales person, Richard, looked at me like I was going to steal something. The sales person was bold enough to call me a lair to my face when I Googled a price check for the oven. I told the sales person Richard that what he said was very rude and that he owed me an apology. He told me no that I did not deserve an apology because he was "kidding" but it did not sound that way. I called my customer to ensure that the oven was what she wanted. While I was checking in with my customer, a white customer walked into the store. They were greeted by Richard and also offered water while they browsed the store. I noticed that I was not offered water nor given the same hospitality. I decided to buy continue my purchase because my customer really wants a GE oven and Clarks were the only store that had it in stock. I had to put my personal feeling aside. I put a down payment on the oven because I left my business credit card at home. Before I got home I received two nasty phone calls from Richard demanding the rest of the payment. He had little faith that I would complete the payment for the oven. He also told me that he will not mark the item as sold, even though I put a down payment on the oven. At this point I could not believe it!!!! During second call from Richard I ask to speak to the owner, Pam. She was just as rude and condescending. She yelled at me on the phone and treated me like she was doing me a favor. She talked to me as if I was beneath her. She offered me an "apology" that was not sincere in any way. Again I needed the oven so I decided to let it go. The oven was a floor model and they had to prep the oven for next day pick-up. The next morning I received a call from Pam. She told me that the oven was ready to put up. They put the oven on top of a dishwasher in the show room and told me to pick it up. Pam told me that I need it to bring help, because they would not load in my truck nor wrap it for transport. REALLY!!!!! I paid almost 1,600.00 dollars for a floor model oven. At his point I had have enough!!!! No matter how much I may needed the oven. I asked for my money back. Can you image buying a oven and paying that much for you to have to load it and wrap it yourself for a safe transportation. The store offers delivery but would not help me put it in my truck. Clark's appliances refused to wear a mask in my own home. They have been delivering maskless since March and lied saying they were allowed to. The Public Health Department has warned them previously. Refrigerator went out. Couldn't get our regular repair service so I started calling recommended places. After six calls of voice mail or no answers we thought of our local business Clark's Appliances. I called and got a real person who sounded concerned about my problem. She asked a lot of questions and even preordered a part she thought it could be. Serviceman came, very clean and polite. Of course We needed a different part. Clark's went to work to find this part immediately. Serviceman was back in a few hours and finished the job. He left no mess at all. It is a rare find when you come across a business with such a helpful and informative employees. I bought a washer/dryer set from them over 9 yrs ago and it's still just as perfect as when we bought it! Plus, they will haul off your old set!!! That is a service that has gone to the wayside so take advantage. I've also called and asked questions on several different occasions and each time I was put in touch with the right people immediately. The owner's are just mean. I had them come out for a service problem on my new refrigerator that was just over a year old it was leaking water all over the floor. They charged me $150 for the service call and did not fix the problem. I called them again 2 months later because the problem was not fixed the first time. They charge me another $150 service call saying they only have a 30 day warranty on repairs. The 3rd time they came out less than a month later and charge me $150 was the last time I will ever do business with them plus the refrigerator still not fixed. Keep in mind I bought this new refrigerator from them in the first place for 2200 dollars and every 2 months it pisses all over the nice new floor. Stay away from these guys once they have your money you find out how they do business. read more

I just bought a house in Raytown and wanted to upgrade all of my kitchen appliances. I prefer to shop locally which is how I ended up at Clark's. First, I was a bit turned off when the salesman put down the "big box stores" as he called them. But, I thought, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Now, I see it as a sign of an inferiority complex and extremely unprofessional. So I bought a washer. When I called after having some difficulties, I was told that once they delivered the product, there was really nothing they could do. I persisted and asked what my options were as I was dissatisfied with the washer: constantly off-balance, walked all over the laundry room, would not spin the clothes very dry. He only offered to send out a tech when I said I was going to return it. I felt he was trying to bully me into keeping the washer when he said once I took possession of it they were not responsible. Very dishonest and unprofessional. After dealing unsuccessfully with the salesman, I called the owner. She was rude, hostile and acted as if I were bothering her. She then tells me that I don't know how to do laundry. She said that cotton and microfiber blankets are an unusual item to wash. Really? Everyone in the entire US goes to a laundromat to wash their blankets and sheets. Then it was our fault because of our floating floor. This woman did not want to work with me. I even offered to buy a more expensive machine. But she said that all her machines would act the same way as would all other brands out there. All of this was over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. On top of that I have a neurological disorder, which stress exacerbates. Plus she would say she would call back; she did not. When we bought four major appliances in the fall of 2008, the salesman emphasized that we were buying from a small-town store that would take care of us. He said places like Home Depot and Lowe's wouldn't be there for us like they could if we needed repairs. Only two years later, the keypad on our over-the-stove microwave suddenly stopped working. Instead of "taking care" of us, we were charged the automatic $59.95 fee for a repairman to come out - even though we live 5 blocks from the store. Additionally, we were charged $20 per 15 minutes of his time - only to be told that the needed repair would cost us an ADDITIONAL $180. No negotiation - no offers of cost-cutting since we were valued customers. Just pay up! This microwave is used with care and should not have needed this major of a repair after a measly 2 years. GE and Clark's should be ashamed of the way they treat their customers! I would highly advice steering clear of this place! read more
