The flooring was laid with such precision that we almost decided not to have the trim put down. Craig is a master of his craft.

JORGE TO THE RESCUE: We wish we called Jorge to do the self-leveling and installation of our floors…read morein the first place. It took three attempts to do the job! Jorge is an honest hard worker and EXCELLENT at his job. Now after 3 months of remodeling, we can finally say we are finished thanks to Jorge! Highly recommended. The back story; We had our garage converted. And the floors had to be re-leveled. We installed bamboo wood that ended up buckling due to moisture and a bad sub-floor level. The bamboo had to be ripped out and the floor was "supposedly" re-leveled a second time by our contractor who admitted to making a mistake, This time we installed laminate wood instead to be safe. And the sub-floor again was STILL UNEVEN! We fired our terrible Contractor who messed up twice then ghosted us and cost us a fortune. We got another team all together - one to pour self-leveler a third time and Jorge to install the laminate wood. There were still portions of the floor that were dipping. And jorge told us about it, he went out and bought cement and re-leveled the two spots himself right then and there knowing exactly how to install our floors to perfection. We are so grateful.

I can't say enough good things about Jim and Mike! We got ourselves into a situation in which we…read morewere living on an air mattress in the living room, had moved all of our stuff into a shed and the attic, started painting, opened drywall and relied on a friend to do the work for payment, and he bailed. With less than two weeks before my mom came for the holidays we were freaking out just a little. I reached out to Jim via Yelp and he responded within a couple hours, arranged a time to come over around our evening schedule, sent the bid within a couple hours offering options to add and subtract services based on our budget and was absolutely polite and professional. We had two other bids and JEM Flooring provided an inclusive cost to include moving furniture, installing trim, a toilet and added on some drywall for us- none of the others included these services and one wanted us to rent a pod, was dismissive of the flooring we purchased and didn't provide a complete bid. His costs were very reasonable, too. They worked through the weekend to keep the process moving with our approval and made our home look five times better than it did when we purchased. The floors have no gaps, the trim is caulked, the air return vents are no longer falling off the wall and they even installed extra trim throughout the rest of the house we planned to install ourselves. This was such an amazing surprise because this involved moving a couch from the kitchen, the washer and dryer, sweeping our pantry floor full of dry dog food and moving the fridge. Mike also installed it behind the toilet and a bathroom where they repaired the drywall. Lastly, Jim did a final walk-through with Mike on their final day to ensure everything was top notch before he met us in the evening again to walk us through everything before making the final payment. Invoices were easy to read, included the change orders and showed the discounts for the items we removed. Between the professionalism, politeness and personality of Jim and Mike I can't imagine working with anyone else. OMG, we are so happy!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

My dealings with Lot's of Carpets has been a journey over 1 1/2 years costing me thousands of…read moredollars, disappointment, and dealing with some sketchy business practices at best. Buyer beware-I was sold defective luxury vinyl floating tile that neither the manufacturer nor Lot's of Carpet backed up when it began buckling in various areas of the flooring. Initially it was beautiful for a few months and when I called to complain, the manager,Diane, sent the installers out (I asked her to come) and they stated that my dogs caused the problem. Supposedly, the offender had several accidents near the expansion joints and it wicked up the floating channels and caused it to split apart (I was told the floor was water-proof) and accepting this we paid for further material and installation, However, the problem continued in areas that the dogs didn't have access to and were blocked by baby gates. Because we had so much money into the floor we continued to buy more flooring to patch it. I asked Diane to come and see the floor and she continued to have the installers observe the damage. I asked for the customer service number of the manufacturer (located in Canada) because there was no local number posted. Diane put me off saying she would follow up because she felt she would be more effective. She kept putting me off and had all sorts of excuses not to look at the floor. I spent an entire day trying to research the problem regarding my floor and found out in a trade journal that the buckling was an identified problem in the past few years (she told me I was the only person who ever complained about it) and it was caused by thermal expansion. Apparently, changes in temperature (I have constant Michigan temperatures with central air and heat so we are not talking about the desert here) causes the floating floor to expand and contract and over a short period of time the stress causes the joints to come apart and the floor buckles). The picture of damage looked exactly like I was having to contend with. My husband took the article in to Diane (which she said she never got) and she again put us off and said she was going to contact the vendor. She never called back-and the problem continued. I finally got on the phone and confronted her and she agreed to to meet at my home and look at the floor with the flooring vendor. Unfortunately, most of the damage appears at night and we had the worse damage repaired (over the year and a half we have been complaining) but new areas are beginning to show at night again when the product contracts. The vendor told us he would see if he could get further product or see what could be done. Well, the bottom line is that the floor manufacturing company went bankrupt and Lot's of Carpet has never responded to us responsibly. The manufacturing company is still operating in Canada but has no ties in the United States and we are denied being able to be compensated. I think I could have been less angry if our complaints had been heeded by Lot's of Carpeting. Diane was not the owner but told us that Larry Jenkins (the owner) let's her do all the customer dealings. I am not accusing anyone of direct misdeeds but I find it curious that she ordered the product in the same year that company filed bankruptcy in the United States. Being the floor professional that she alleged to be, why wouldn't she know they were having problems? Also why didn't she know about the problems of thermal contraction? I went with a local business thinking I would best satisfied with a local company-I was certainly wrong. My husband and I were raised in the area-he is retired from the military (Marines) after 23 years of service and I was a professional nurse-this was not a great welcome home. No wonder the owner had to write glowing reports about the business himself: but, signing your own name-seriously? Please beware potential customers.
