First allow me to start off by stating I thought I'd be the exception in writing a bad review for Clark's at Willowbrook Mall. To my surprise it seems my experience is indicative of the service being provided hence the 1.5 stars.
So here's my story.
I ordered the new tan desert boots for $130. Before purchasing I asked the gentlemen why did the display model look as if it was different than the one I was attempted to purchase? He stated it was to be considered worn suede. Okay let's assume we go with that. It gets worse. I mentioned I work in the mall as well in addition to stating I wear a 11.5 which I was told they don't sell. Only full sizes. But the website is selling half sizes. Okay maybe just a bigger inconsistency, but the male rep informed me that they would stretch over time and I should be fine so I made the purchased based on his advice as a Clark's employee. Surely he knows what he's doing. I wore them one day and they felt uncomfortable and looked as if I wore them for weeks. I walk in TWO days later and ask a rep named Amanda, who was very nice, if there was any possible I could return them due to the stated observations. I wasn't making a big deal. She then proceeds to tell me I can get my original refund minus either 10% or 20%. I love this! Thanks Amanda! I would not mind taking a 10-20% loss considering I wore them 1 day. I didn't have them so I was advised to come the next day. But before I left she made sure I knew I was entitled to a discount of 20% being I was a mall employee. Wait WHAT!!!! Why didn't the sales rep told me when that is my first statement when I shop in the mall in order to build rapport due to our commonalities.
Here's where it gets really bad.
The very next day, the manager told not only can I not get my cash back but it's a 50% discount. So I was only able to get $65 on a gift card. I explained to her that I didn't want to be "that" customer because working in retail I understood, but emphatically I explained seeing from a customers perspective, I wasn't informed of a discount I could have benefited from despite mentioning religiously when shopping in mall, I was misinformed my Amanda with her card in my hand, and though she was nice I was completely misinformed and not you are telling me simply "sorry". This was honestly the worst experience I've ever had shopping on this mall.
I never leave reviews because I understand people have bad days. We are human and while you may work in service of others you are still human I understood that. The manager didn't seem to care. She just seemed like she wanted to give me her solution, didn't reply as if she heard what I said but more so I know what I am going to say regardless of what you say. I truly hate that I was left with a gift card because I'm upset I am not forced to give my business to someone who clearly doesn't care about the customer enough to even empathize with them. read more
