Of all the journey's we as a family have started, speech therapy is the most emotional and rewarding so far. My name is Jess and I have Aspergers, so this was never going to be easy. My son Kian is three, he has ASD and is non verbal. My mom was already concerned that I have taken literally many things said to me by different ones who have not taken my own autism into consideration when advising me on speech therapy for Kian. So when mom said she had heard about an excellent speech therapy center called CLASS, Inc., it caused anxiety for me. I should not have worried. The staff at CLASS, Inc. is always mindful of my own issues, and with this in hand, they have worked wonders with Kian in just a few short weeks. The first time we came to CLASS, Inc., the director introduced herself and plonked herself down on the floor and Kian was immediately her best buddy. All of the staff at CLASS, Inc. connect with people, adults and kids. They are kind and listen to the individual needs of people. The therapist warned us that this is going to be hard and sometimes will turn everything on its head. Well it is intense there is no doubt about that, but in five short weeks Kian has learned to use to use an iPad with a talking app. He is also using simple signs for "more " and "thank you". CLASS, Inc. has given Dean and I the confidence and tools to go forward. We thought. Kian was too young. The therapist at CLASS, Inc. wasn't having any negativity and she is right. We had our way forward positively proved when on Kians birthday, his Auntie Sarah brought him a minions helium balloon. His laughter said it all as he clapped his hands. But while we were in another room the balloon floated out of Kian's reach. From the kitchen we heard Sarah, "OMG" we ran in to the lounge to find an emotional Auntie experiencing Kian communicating with her for the first time. He had gone to his iPad, touched the balloons picture and taken the iPad to her. Now if that is not progress, what is. Since then and only five days on he has picked up how to say "I want". He does this by pushing the "I want" button on his iPad and he than adds what he wants by pushing another button i.e balloons, bubbles, play. He takes it to Mommy or Daddy. He is talking to us. Both of my sons had been receiving speech therapy at CLASS, Inc. They each have speech difficulties. We took advantage of the free consultation and met with one of the therapists before signing on. My boy's evaluations were done quickly and the results were given to us at our next week's appointment. The speech therapists at CLASS, Inc. clearly love what they do. The really take the time to get to know the kids and have fun with them. My boys don't even realize that they are getting speech therapy when they are there...but I can watch and hear the therapists making my boys work! They also take the time to understand background/history of the child and then develop a learning plan to work on the child's issues. My oldest boy had been very frustrated because he could not be understood - he had LOTS of tantrums. Now he is a confident, and happy guy! My younger boy also has some grammar problems in addition to his sounds. The therapists are working on booth things at once and I can already tell a difference. When my family came for Thanksgiving, they all complimented the boys on how well they talk! As a parent I couldn't ask for more! read more

We came here for an intensive therapy program for 3 weeks solid. Our son is 11 years old and has very little communication. We have not seen much progress at school and he has been going to ABA therapy for years. ABA has helped, but he still only communicated in scripted ways. There was no real conversation. CLASS Inc changed all of that! On the evennig after the first day, our son told us that he was tired and wanted to go to bed! And he did-went directly to sleep and we were astonished. It just got better and better from there. The therapists worked miracles with him. And they taught us how to continue to work with him at home to improve his communication. Our lives are forever changed for the good. I can only say wonderful things about this place. Don't think twice. My life has improved 1,000% since doing speech therapy here! My neurologist told me that CLASS INC was the ONLY place that I should go for speech therapy after my accident that caused a brain injury. He was correct; these people at CLASS INC do speech therapy the way it should be done: therapy here works! I happily drive to CLASS INC from Shoreline twice per week because the quality of the therapy, the ease of their billing system and the nice atmosphere of the place. CLASS INC is fabulous! Everyone is friendly. They provide snack s. They keep their appointments on time so there's no waiting around wasting time. My boys went to CLASS Inc. when they were 5 to 8 yrs old. They are now 16 and IB is still mostly nonverbal and we started back again about a year ago. Paula has only made fantastic differences. The new office is so spacious and the Dock Street location is wonderful with the water and a small park nearby. Paula and all her therapists are so good with the kids and keep the parents informed of progress. IB is using an augmentative communication device and due to insurance we started at another clinic and all they did was program things into it. CLASS Inc. is helping him learn how to communicate with it and make his wants and needs known while also helping him make the most of the limited speech he does have. I am so happy to be taking IB to CLASS Inc. and am ecstatic at the progress he has made! read more

Class Inc. took us beyond the non verbal Autism label with our son. Through them we finally got the proper speech diagnosis when he was four years old. We have since traveled from San Diego to do intensive speech and AAC communication with Class Inc. twice! We've spent three weeks each time and have been amazed at the clinical experience that Class Inc provides. There is a family friendly atmosphere and focus is always placed on what a child CAN do. There is a therapy dog named Bijou and peer social groups too. The emphasis is on fun and accomplishment. We would never trade our experience with them and hope to return in summers to come. We took our son to two other speech therapists before we found CLASS, inc. We are sorry that we wasted our time with those other therapists because as soon as we started coming to CLASS, our son started making tremendous progress. The therapists are truly talented at what they do and they make it fun; our son loves going there! They also work with older kids and teen agers and I have seen changes in some of these older kids just by observing them in the waiting room. Oh, and did I mention the location? It's terrifiec! right on the water and next to a little park. CLASS, Inc. worked wonders with our son. He was having a hard time with pre-school, and we were fearful of how he was going to do in Kindergarten. CLASS, Inc. jumped right in, and our son's progress this past year has been phenomenal. CLASS, Inc.is 150% invested in the children they work with, and is exceptionally skilled in their work. Our son successfully completed his kindergarten year and is on his way to 1st grade! Kris played a large part to his success. I have observed other children and adults in the waiting room and have been a first hand witness to their progess as well! My son attends speech and social therapy weekly at this clinic. We've been going for a little over six months now, and the amount of progress we've seen in such a short amount of time is almost surreal. When we're there we feel more like we're visiting a friend's house then going to do therapy. The atmosphere is always relaxing and uplifting and what makes all of this most worthwhile is that my son is or "becomes" relaxed when we're there. This is a special place, with special people who are good at what they do, work hard and achieve results while making it all seem effortless. The clinicians at CLASS, Inc. are very knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make my experience as positive as possible. My mother benefited greatly from her time here and felt much more capable after working with the clinicians. I learned a lot too about how to support her. I agree with the other reviewers that CLASS, Inc. has changed the life of my son who has gone from being completely frustrated and tantruming talking and making new friends. The therapists are kind, generous and fun as well as knowledgeable and talented. In fact, the entire office is fantastic from the front desk to the therapists to the clinic director to the location--who can beat a therapy center located on the water, next to a park and with a view of Mt. Rainier? They make the parents feel so welcome with coffee, etc and good conversation. It's a place that you will be glad you came to! read more

Both my son and daughter have been patients at Class Inc. for the past few years. Everyone there is wonderful, caring and helpful. I look forward to our appointments with our therapist Amanda. She understands what makes my kids tick and has helped them immensely. She picks up on slight nuances that have been missed by others trained professionals which has helped my children overcome incredible odds. YES!!! CLASS, Inc. Is an AMAZING speech therapy clinic; the therapists clearly love what they do, the facility is warm, friendly, clean and in an awesome location on the Foss Waterway. My sone attended speech sessions there for 3 years and he loved going so much that we often stop in just to say hello. We found CLASS, Inc after attending speech therapy at another place and were discouraged because my son wasn't making much progress. After the first session at CLASS, Inc. I did not have a good experience at CLASS, Inc. in Tacoma. My main concern is the services that are provided. When I came in for a consultation, I was supposed to meet with the owner, Paula, and she just did not show up. They put me with someone else without any warning. Paula has since not showed up to one other meeting, when my son began. We only came for three months, due to issues with the services provided and constant billing errors. I found out they were billing me the same cost for a Speech Pathologist as they do an assistant. That is very unethical! read more

The owner posted on her facebook page, asking everyone to come and rate her on yelp. I really enjoy the articles she posts and there is some great information on her website. Unfortunately, I did not have the same good experience with her actual clinic. I found the staff to not be knowledgeable when I asked about some speech issues with my daughter, and the owner refused to return my phone call. I hope their services are good, but I couldn't even get that far with the poor customer service I received. read more

Our son is severely speech delayed and this has caused much frustrations and lots aggressive behaviors like hitting, biting and kicking. The therapists at CLASS, Inc. were able to teach him to communicate and no longer is he so aggressive. We were able to stop our ABA and just do speech. Now he can say, "I love you mommy!" CLASS, Inc is like family. They help with many more things than speech therapy. And now they work with adults too. It makes even more family like here. :) read more

We've been going to Class Inc. for over 6 months now with my 5 year old and I'm so pleased with the progress she has made with their help. The staff are friendly, genuine, and we'll equipped to foster progress in our children who struggle with different aspects of spoken language.
