I would never use this company again! we hired their services about three years ago to conduct a study and issue a report. With the delays of the city over the past year, the city would not accept the "aged" report and asked for a new one. When we called James and asked him to revisit the site and update the report, he claimed that it would cost about the same as the original report. Alt nothing has changed at the property, while waiting for permits from the city, James said it would take even longer to issue a report as he would have to explain any changes from the first report (although the city refused the original report and NOTHING HAS CHANGED ON THE PROPERTY) We decided to reach out to other companies for a competitive price and obtained a price for a totally new report nearly 65% of-this company's price. Now remember, there is no issue of quality of the report as both companies just issue a report on the trees on s and there is no "good" or "bad" repor and hardly any justification for the inflated price and same price for updating the report. Anyway, the conversation with James was far from "giving a dam" about a customer; we paid him over $3k for the report and will now have to pay a little over $2k for a brand new one. Either way, I would never use their services again and suggest that you do the same. read more

James quickly told me he could come and take my money, but I could save a lot of money by reaching out to my city arborist for free. James advised me to reach out to American Society of Consulting Arborist and they can help me for free as well, and a third free resource through Cal State Davis's Agriculture Program. I decided I wanted him to come look at the rest of the trees. he came by and taught me so much in the hour about tree health and things I should do now vs. in the future to maintain the overall health of my trees. The entire time he would be perfectly honest with me about which things I should pay to have a certified arborist do, vs what I could just get a general tree trimmer to do for me. Climate, soil pH, fungi and insects, moisture and soil composition, root structure, trunk structure, bark structure, shoot structure, leaf structure, the physics of how trees handle various environmental stresses, fruits and flowers... the list of things he looks for, thinks about, and discusses with you would fill a library. I think the only he thing he didn't discuss with me was plant PSYCHOLOGY, but I'm sure he could share a theory or two on that subject if prompted! As a new home-owner and tree-lover, it's important to me that I learn how to care for my trees and plants properly. James came over for a one-hour visual assessment and oral report, and he reviewed our Aleppo pine, Brazilian pepper, lemon, and bottlebrush trees, as well as my rose bushes, lawn, and herb garden. He gave me a summary on the health of each plant and concrete advice on how to care for them. He told me what I could expect of the plants and trees as they grew, and shared some timely advice on how to deal with the recent heat dome and droughts we've been experiencing. While calling around to get estimates -- we have pervasive white fly on our hibiscus and one of our fruit trees is starting to succumb -- James answered the phone. I had a plumber put a pipe really close to a tree (closer than I'd expected) and was worried about it. I'd talked to another person at a nursery who had put me in a total panic about the tree, then I messaged James about it on Yelp, and he offered to look at pictures of it over the phone to save on costs. He told me it was a mulberry tree which are really hardy, and it would probably be fine, but that there wasn't a lot to do about it but wait and see. It was really reassuring to talk to someone calming and sane. We also talked about another tree that wasn't looking so good, and he told me there's an invasive disease attacking those trees. He said that we could do a test on it, but even if it was that disease, there's no cure. So he recommended just waiting on that too.
