Arturo and his entire crew did a fantastic job for a very sad situation in Altadena. Many trees died recently after the Army Corps of Engineers debris removal last year, and in one day the guys were super friendly and professional cleaning up my lot from anything dead or burnt, even adding in weed abatement for my hillsides. Five star service!!! Met with Arturo from Lopez Tree Service. Had them remove a 30-foot tall pittosporum from my front yard. On Sunday half the tree had fallen down by itself. The tree was rotted at the base. On Monday I got city approval to remove the hazardous tree. On Tuesday the 4-man Lopez crew cut down the tree in parts, carefully roping them off to the ground. A wood chipper was used to cut up the logs. A grinder then moved in to remove the stump. All done in about 2-3 hours! Amazing work. read more

Oops, why haven't I left a review for them? They come out and trim up the trees every other year for the last 10 years. They do a wonderful job. Professional and SAFE! I have a corner lot that is lined with ficus. They do a beautiful job trimming and thinning it out. I also have a bunch of palm trees and bougainvillea. They are in high demand because they do such great and trustworthy work. if they don't get back to you right away, give him a couple of days. He will call back and get you a quote. I've used Lopez Tree Service several times over the last decade+, most recently about a month ago. I had a tree that was growing against the side of the house and over the roof; a rogue tree in the front that was out of control - ruining my fence and hanging over my neighbor's yard, and encroaching on my roof. I decided to have it removed, it's always been a problem, and I will replant that area with succulents. My ancient persimmon tree still produces and has beautiful fall leaves but branch by branch it's getting weak (I can relate, some of my branches are getting a bit wonky as I head toward my 77th birthday). They trimmed it perfectly and followed my request that they make sure one area of the mulberry tree was still close enough to the persimmon tree that the squirrels could jump from one to the other (they have a picnic table on a branch in the persimmon tree where I attach dried corn on the cob and they pick the kernels off while sitting on the picnic table). I also advised them that I was getting the entire outside of the house painted soon so they made sure all the trees next to the house were cut back far enough for the painters. They were meticulous about clean-up (and even removed an extra pile of leaves and branches left by my gardener because there wasn't enough room in my yard waste bin, and he was planning to put the extra in next week's pick-up). Also, they called to let me know that their crew had finished another job early in the day and they could come in the afternoon a day early - perfect! Total of 5 guys over a period of three hours, and done perfectly. Years ago I used to get nervous that other plants might be damaged, I couldn't watch without stressing out but it was always done well, and I realized I can count on their precision and professionalism. The cost was reasonable and I knew I would get detailed, impeccable service. There is one tree that makes me think of them when I look at it - it was a "free" tree, appeared out of nowhere and grew quickly and close to the house. They trimmed/removed the branches that were continually reaching for the house several visits ago, and it has maintained its distance from the corner of the house (now it just reaches for the sky). A great family business with a dedicated crew who work well together . Arturo came out the same day I called him to give us an estimate for the work (3 trees to be removed and 1 to have some broken limbs removed). He then had a team out the day after we approved the quote to do the work. They were incredibly fast - it just took them a few hours - and also very nice and professional. They left the yard looking better than when they arrived, and even cut the trunks into firewood-sized sections for our fireplace. We wanted our trees cut down away from power lines and off our house. And a large palm tree cut down in the backyard. All in all they did a good job and the price was fair for the services. My only issue was I recalled the clean up was included and it wasn't. And we still have some branches too close to the power lines. So that was frustrating. It's always hard when the person who you connect with and confirm your expectations with isn't there to do the work and supervise. And then they say we couldn't do that or I didn't say that. Alturo seemed like a very professional guy so we hired to cut our trees $4000k. They did an ok job but the pine trees permanently stained our concrete driveway as they were piled high before they placed in the truck. Rookie mistake. The big problem came when my neighbors said they suspected them of backing into their gate. Basically Arturo stormed my house frantic, angry in a rage. We contacted Lopez Tree Service after getting a recommendation from a coworker and are we glad we did! We had a camphor tree that was too close to the house and needed to be removed, a dead trunk that needed to be removed, and a couple of trees that were hanging over the fence and needed to be trimmed (especially a huge ash tree that was looking scary during heavy winds). We met with Arturo who was able to give us an estimate within minutes, which was very competitive. It's clear that safety is a priority, and we liked that they are arborists in addition to being licensed and insured (liability and worker's comp). The ash tree now looks tamed--well-shaped and thinned, without looking hacked--and is inside our yard. The avocado tree looks nice, neat and not bugging the neighbors. The dead tree trunk is gone and the camphor tree looks as if were never there at all. The crew showed up on time, were quick, polite, and left the yard clean and neat. We liked that the crew was large enough to ensure the job was done safely and efficiently (half a day!) and appreciated the extra effort to protect the yard. I hired Lopez Tree Service on a Tuesday morning. I had been messaging back-and-forth with the company for about 2 weeks as I was gathering estimates. The responses were always prompt. We had a large, overgrown sycamore that was in desperate need of pruning. That morning, I asked again about their availability for the week, and was told that he and another worker could be at my home within 1-2 hours. José and another gentleman arrived exactly on time. They carefully backed their large truck and chipper down our driveway and began unloading equipment and assessing the tree immediately. José was informative, offered suggestions for the pruning, and listened to my concerns before the work began. During the work, both men were meticulous. At no time were branches strewn about our yard, nor was there any debris for more than 5 minutes. As soon as José cut down a branch from up high, the other gentleman would position in into the chipper and rake up the small bits. Sometimes, it even looked as though Jose was cutting the branches so that they would land a certain way to make it easier for his partner below! Another thing they did that I appreciated--they ran the chipper only when it was full. I'm sure this was done to reduce the wear on the machine, but I appreciated that I and my neighbors didn't have to listen to the chipper running for a solid hour. I was very impressed with the cleanliness and efficiency with which these two men worked. Lopez Tree Service was at my home for 2-3 hours. They trimmed and pruned our overgrown sycamore for a total of $525. Both workers were clean, efficient, safe, and thorough. José was especially helpful in discussing the options and concerns. Our yard was left cleaner than when the workers arrived, and our tree (though very bare now) is healthy again. So this is a bit shout out about the amazing service Arturo, his father, and the crew provided for my parents. Lopez Tree Service was recommended by the consulting arborist in our community. Ahead of the huge storms with forecasted high winds 2 weeks ago, Arturo had 11 people on the job getting my parents' work done ahead of the worst of the storms. They removed one unsafe and very large old tree, pruned the dead out of a large deodor which had not been tended to in many years, and pruned numerous other trees in their forest-like backyard. The work was done professionally with the oversight of Arturo Senior who made sure everything was done well and cleaned up. I would not hesitate to use them again. Lopez is great! They've trimmed multiple large trees for me, and in particular did a beautiful job cleaning up my Chinese elm. I've also had them remove dead trees and grind a few stumps. Every time it's been a reasonable price, great communication, and a really fast turnaround time. They also do a great job cleaning up afterwards. Regarding mulch -- because I see someone recently left a negative review -- I also recently got a load of mulch from them. Arturo was super clear with me up-front about how large the loads are and even sent me pictures of the trucks. He also explained that it is mulch, not straight wood chips, but it still works as walkable ground cover (or to mulch your garden!) Just be aware that it'll be a mix of whatever they trimmed or cut down last. I lucked out and had a beautiful mix of eucalyptus and pine. It smells and looks amazing! read more
