    Online price

I've worked with car dealers all over the US and this was the first time I've had a sale person try to switch the list price. The sales sheet list price is almost $4000 different than the internet list price. After discussing the numbers with Ray Jones and then seeing the sales sheet I realized he had used a different price plus there was an added "millennial package" of $1500. I decided to not buy the Jeep from this dealership bc of this. Ray tried to blame the cost increase on the $3100 extended warranty that I was opt'ing for but it was not actually calculated into the numbers. I avoided answering the phone or texts for 2 days and I finally responded with the following: "Thanks for the follow up but I've decided to not go with your Jeep. The sales sheet had a price nearly $4000 more than what was online. Thanks for your time" This caused Ray to get angry and he started on a tirade about quite a few things as you can see in the screen snaps.

This is how an untitled car was presented to me at delivery.

I lost $500 unsuccessfully trying to buy a car here. I made an out of state offer a couple hundred dollars over Kelly Blue Book's "outstanding" condition book value and came to an agreement with Tim the sales manager on one of their several "leftover" / untitled 2016 model year vehicles (it's 2019 BTW). I agreed to pay the dealer fees, but was shocked when the paperwork came that their dealer fee was $700 AND there was a REQUIRED $500 protection package that was never mentioned prior to the paperwork... $1,200 in unexpectedly higher costs. That is by far the highest dealer fee I've ever come across and I've also never had a dealer REQUIRE me to buy a protection package... have you? I had Quay the sales person do a walk around and confirm in writing that there weren't any scratches / dings / dents and that the mileage was 230ish original miles. I put down just over a 10% deposit and bought a one way plane ticket for about $100 and flew out to inspect and close on the car. First of all, I've never seen a more poorly prepped car for delivery... my pictures speak for themselves. Second, the car had an additional 40 or so miles on the odometer from when I agreed to buy it... no idea how that would of happened. Lastly, I was disappointed to find that the car had previously undisclosed front end damage on the bumper and chin spoiler in several areas. They tried to rub it out and had a neighboring body shop look at it, but a service tech confirmed the damage was too deep. I sent photos to my local Dodge dealer body shop back home, and they estimated in writing that it would cost an additional $1,400 to repair the bumper and the chin spoiler. Tim the sales manager said it could be fixed locally for $100, but I don't think that's possible for a reputable job. The labor alone would be more than that for a good job... and on a car purchase from a dealer I want a good job. I asked for a lesser amount than the damage estimate... $1,000 off to at least be able to repair the bumper damage, but he refused. When you combine the unexpectedly high fees and undisclosed damage estimates from my local body shop we were approximately $2,600 above my original slightly above book value offer. I ended up deciding that the car wasn't worth the extra money nor did I trust the situation any longer. I got my deposit back, "walked away", and spent another $400 on a last minute return plane ticket so I could get home... $500 in lost money on travel. Based on the outcome of my experience I have no idea how the owner of the dealership is still in business. I personally have never had a more disappointing car buying experience, and based on other reviews out there I'm clearly not the only one. I obviously won't be back. (Side note: I'd like to point out that no part of this review is "emotional" nor am I attempting to make them "look bad"... this was my EXPERIENCE.)

Office area - nice service waiting room and children's room in back.

What I initially brought the vehicle in for was not actually looked at. He called me and gave limited explanations on why the repairs were needed and what caused the problem. Once my car was finished it wasn't washed or cleaned. The previous time I had my oil changed at that location and not sure they did the oil change because my oil mileage indicator was not reset. Called them to ask and they were very short and said "just bring it back" in a bit of a condescending tone. Will not return. W

I rate Deacon Jones Ford of Goldsboro ZERO stars! One bad experience after the other. I have had…read morenothing but trouble with the car they sold me. The service department yelled at me once that they didn't sell me the car that I purchased from that DJ. It needed a new engine because of an engine defect, and they threatened not to repair my car even though it was under warranty. I had to call Deacon Jones Smithfield, who told me the car would be repaired. Within days of picking up the car, it was already breaking down. By the time the car needed a second new engine, it was under recall for an engine defect. They kept my car for months, & getting a loaner was very difficult & took weeks, despite being approved by Ford. Robbie threatened to have me arrested if I called them again, despite having only called them a normal amount of times to check on the car and ask about a loaner. I began calling Ford when I needed to ask them a question, and would have Ford call them with me on the line. Within days of picking up the car, the engine light & other lights were already on. When I took it in for the first oil change after the 2nd engine replacement, there were 2 men standing at the entrance, customers who appeared to know each other & were talking. Again, they were at the door, & they were not at the counter. One of them told me to go ahead, & they continued talking. One of them was asssisted, & I was at the other counter while the one who told me to go ahead of him was behind me. Frank looked behind me & offered to help the man behind me, who was the man who told me to go ahead of him while he was talking with the other man. The man TOLD Frank that he told me to go ahead of him, & again, the men were at the door when I entered the business, neither of them had approached the counter. Are other customers supposed to wait outside while two customers are at the door talking? Whoever is at the counter is the person next in line & the man told me to go ahead of him. Frank was VERY rude when he looked around me, offering to help the man, while I was standing at the counter. After the man told Frank that he told me to go ahead of him, I also spoke up for myself & informed Frank that I would not have jumped in line. Frank told me he didn't even know if they would be able to service my car, probably since I reported them to Ford, the State Attorney General, & to the BBB for the issues I was having with the second repair on my car & getting a loaner car so I would not have to get Ubers & ask friends for rides. BUT, they talked me into purchasing the service contract when I purchased the lemon car they sold me, so I asked how could they refuse the service. Frank let me know it would be HOURS for an oil change, so I told him that was fine. BTW, they talk you into purchasing the contract, but do not tell you they do not take appointments & they will take hours for simple oil changes & routine services. They want you to drop your car off & leave it. Frank was SO rude to me that while I was waiting I made a post on FB describing my experience & Robbie made me leave, but only after I demanded a refund for the remaining services due on my car. He claimed I jumped the line & was pissed about the FB post. I was recording so can prove I did not jump the line, & as mentioned, the men were at the door not the counter. The lady refunding my service contract money refused to give me the name of someone to complain to because she was pissed about my FB post. So much for truth and freedom of speech. Both times the car needed a new engine & the staff at Deacon Jones Ford were rude to me & did not want to help me I tried to reach out to Ken Jones. I was never able to reach him. The second time, I sent him an email & he never responded. Robbie likes to threaten & intimidate people. Before one oil change, their was a hold on my car until I talked to him. He called me into his office just me & him, and was very, very intimidating, demanding that when I would make negative statements on reviews that they sent me to complete after oil changes, that I was costing the employees their bonuses. My review was honest-it should not take hours for an oil change. Then, when I had the second engine replacement, he wasn't even in town, & did not even bother to ask for my side of the story when he threatened to have me arrested if I called them again, when I only called a normal amount of times that ANY customer would call to check on their car and ask about a loaner when they were without their car and needed transportation to work, school, and other commitments. My last time there he was also very rude and intimidating, "And don't come back!" LOL, mf, I didn't want to be there to begin with, but you guys sold me a lemon car then talked me into purchasing a service plan, but neglected to tell me that an oil change would take hours. Sell you crap, try to intimidate you when you need service and repairs.

Deceitful, Incompetent Dealership. Terrible Experience. Grade = F…read more I have purchased 3 new vehicles over the past several years, so I am relatively familiar with the sales tactics and general shenanigans that go on with car dealerships. I am sharing my experience here so others can be forewarned and take their business elsewhere. This was for an "in-transit" 2022 F150 Lariat, not a custom build/order. General Incompetence - Could not get in touch with salesmen Shane AFTER I made my purchase. Dealership had no problem taking thousands of dollars for my deposit though. Once I paid, I called and emailed with no response... I had to contact the manager to get in touch with salesman again, I was then given the excuse of "the emails must not have gone through" ... see screenshot 1. Anyone can check their sent folder to see if an email was delivered or not. Just, overall general incompetence here. - Dealership told me over and over how they were "on top" of my order and had "marked my truck hot". I started getting morning emails saying, "nothing today, hopefully this week". I personally called Ford HQ, gave them my VIN and personal details, and Ford HQ told me the truck was WEEKS away from being delivered and had not been "marked hot" or designated for any type of expedite, they were not even familiar with that term. Dealership was happy to string me along and let me think it would be arriving any day. If ANYONE in that building picked up the phone and called Ford HQ like I did, they would have been told the truck was not coming anytime soon. Either they did this and withheld that information from me to keep my order, or they failed to even pick up the phone and call for me. Deceitful -As my truck's delivery date continued to be delayed from the date I was told it was set for delivery when I made my deposit, I eventually called and asked for a manager. I explained the situation and asked if I had any recourse at all if things continue to get delayed as I needed a vehicle (Could they provide a loaner car? Could they cancel my order so I could get a different truck?). The manager refused to provide a courtesy vehicle. When I asked about being locked into the contract, he said "you've already committed to buying the vehicle". The next day, in a bind for a truck, I called Ford HQ. Ford HQ customer service was great and informed me that I was not contractually obligated or committed to buying the vehicle until I had taken delivery of the truck, and it likely would be several weeks before the truck arrived at Deacon Jones. With this new information, I called Deacon Jones Ford and demanded my order be cancelled and my down payment be refunded. Rather that offer a courtesy vehicle and try to keep my business, the manager told me If I wanted this truck the next closest one was over 700 miles away. - Telling me other dealers are charging $5,000 over MSRP for this truck. I have spoken to 5 North Carolina Ford dealers looking for a Lariat F150, not a single one is adding money to MSRP. Perhaps peak COVID, but this was a scare tactic. Every dealer has actually come off MSRP, even if only slightly. This is either a deceitful sales tactic, or just incompetence in not understanding the current market conditions. The $899 Deacon Advantage.... -"Deacon Jones Advantage Program" for new vehicles is automatically added to the purchase price of new trucks. I did not ask for this product. When I told them to remove it and adjust the price accordingly, they told me it was coming off of their bottom line (screenshot 3). Obviously, I didn't believe that as the truck was "in transit" so items like door edge guards, and fabric protectors could not have been installed. Any new truck is an expensive purchase so look around and get informed. Look at Ramsey Ford in Maryland just as one example, offering a FREE 20 year, 200,000 mile limited powertrain warranty on any new truck just to show you how much of a rip-off this automatically added "deacon advantage" is. Dealer Documentation Fee -$799... The highest I have seen during my search for an F150. Of course, they will tell you this is for very important work and they can't budge on this. Here is the local market if you're curious: Deacon Jones Doc Fee: $799 Lookout Ford Dealer Doc Fee: $789 Sanders Dealer Doc Fee: $699 Cella Ford Dealer Doc Fee: $698 Feyer Ford Dealer Doc Fee: $699. Overall, they were responsive up until the point where they took my deposit. After that, it took me personally calling Ford HQ to get totally different answers than what I was getting from the dealership. They had no interest in providing a loaner vehicle, and they falsely told me I was committed to the vehicle when I was not contractually committed in anyway.

So I proceeded to test drive the vehicle and upon test driving I went and had the car looked over elsewhere where it was found the car had some damage and also upon driving back to the lot all four of the windows were hesitating to roll down almost like they were about to go off track and not work. From seeing these issues I took the vehicle back to the dealership and explained to them I was no longer interested in the car. Upon getting in my vehicle Manager Rob had stopped me and my girlfriend from leaving explaining he did not want to lose our business and if he could just try to help us sure cool so I showed Rob the issue with the windows he than showed me it was a adhesive where the tint was removed causing the issue with the windows. Than I showed him my concerns of the damages to the rear bumper and where the vehicle had been repainted he kinda just shrugged the issues off. I than walked the lot just looking at inventory as Rob went inside to see " what numbers he could come up with" for the value of my 2021 Toyota Corolla trade in. I began looking at a Maroon Dodge Charger upon looking it over I checked the dipstick to the oil there was no oil on the dipstick I expressed the concern to Rob in which he stated the vehicle had to have oil on it to pass the inspection to be able to be in lot and sold on lot i than showed Rob there was no oil on the dipstick again another issue just kinda shrugged off. I than was told they were willing to pay off my trade in and get me in a Accord not sure which vehicle that was cause I had test drove the junk of a Civic they had on lot. I than asked for a quote showing the amount for my trade in and showing on paper printed out that they were paying it off and showing the numbers. He said okay no problem proceeds to go inside while I continue to walk the lot looking at vehicles than comes back out in which I ask again for a print out showing the numbers. He than says he's not doing that and will hand write that info down because I'm not taking the numbers he's giving me and shopping elsewhere. Overall very unprofessional and very rude of Rob I really before today had heard nothing but good of Matthew's Motors Goldsboro but after today I know my business will no longer be going to them ever. This morning was a complete waste of time and shows why I only deal with certain Toyota and Honda dealerships around Goldsboro NC. Also if I could I would give this no stars because it doesn't even deserve 1 star. update I called this morning and spoke with rob, after finding out they keep running my credit and I'm not even at the dealership! way to affect my credit!
