I recently went on a Sunset Cruise with CHL Boston and had the best time! I have grown up in Boston and not often do I find things or places I haven't heard of before, but this cruise was so much fun. I got to see familiar spots in a new and cool way, while enjoying great indoor and outdoor seating options. And the crew was absolutely amazing, and to mention names, captain Dante did a great job at explaining what sights and landmarks we were seeing as we rode around the water! 10/10 would recommend doing one of these if you live in the city or are just visiting. read more

My wife and I took a sunset cruise of Boston harbor. It was overall, a pleasant experience. If you want to obtain a couch you will need to line up at least 15 minutes before they start boarding. The other seats are less comfortable. You can go upstairs and view the harbour from the outside and take great photos. The ship itself has a bit of a perfunctory look. It is not luxurious in and way and has scratches and a few random hanging wires. On the plus side I must give the company credit for having high enough ceilings as I'm very tall. There is not much in the way of a tour. They do occasionally narrate a few key points such as the USS Constitution and the firing of a cannon on another ship. However this is such a missed opportunity as there is so much history that they could discuss. And a lot of the cruise is repetitive, going up and down the same channel more than once. I wish they ventured past Castle Island, Winthrop, Moon Island, and Long Island, and gave a full narrated tour. You can purchase alcohol, cheese plates, potato chips, and grilled cheese sandwiches. They ran out of cheese plates when we were there so bring your own food if you are hungry, something they allow you to do. I wish though they served more food. If you are looking for an intimate cruise where you can whisper sweet romantic nothings in your partner's ears then the lack of a narrated tour is feature not a bug. I saw a lot of cute couples aboard. Guys: this is a excellent place to impress a girl! I got the strong sense that it's much more "fun" when you've had a few drinks, and looking around almost everyone was drinking. Of course this is Boston where we drink more per capita than almost anywhere else in the US. I personally only drink occasionally so I probably had a different experience. It will not be very educational for a child, although much better than not going at all! If you know the history perhaps you can explain it them as you pass different locations. Sometimes if you Google around, you can find discount tickets! I did! There are beautiful (although expensive) restaurants nearby so you can have a cruise followed by a luxurious dinner or vice versa. Together it would make a fabulous date. There is a parking garage nearby that has a special weekend rate of "only" $18. It is also close to South Station. There is a lot of nightlife nearby. read more

It was our first time on a sailboat. Unfortunately, there wasn't much wind. It was neat though seeing how enorenormousthe masts are and the work that goes in to putting them up and down and the inner workings of the boat. I was amazed it had two bathrooms and originally had bunk beds for 13 people! I think the captain should wear a small mic and they should have wireless speakers on the boat so the captain can talk about surroundings and the boat to everyone all at once. Glad they offered drinks and snacks to purchase. Maybe offer discount pricing on certain days so it's affordable to more people. read more

I booked the Northern Lights cruise in Boston Harbor on Groupon for my birthday weekend. I really wanted to do a night-lights cruise and the Ghost and Graveyards Trolley, but only had three nights. I was staying in East Windsor, CT because I was going to Six Flags, New England the next day on my birthday. This meant, after driving 8 hours from Ontario, I would have to drive an hour and 45 to Boston to do the cruise the first night. I did so, and it was totally worth the extra drive there and back to the hotel. The cruise leaves from the dock close to the aquarium. It was easy to find and I found a parking garage quite close for $8. The walk wasn't bad and the streets were well-lit. I felt safe the entire time. There were already people waiting at the dock, and I found them when a waiter from the restaurant there pointed out the departure point. You need to go inside the office off to the left to get your boarding pass, but the whole experience was really easy. There were some other couples on the boat, so it was a quiet cruise, which was very nice. After all the driving, I really needed to relax, and this cruise did the trick. There is a full bar on board, so I got a tequila and soda and headed up to the top deck. There is seating both inside and outside with plenty of places to sit. There were two sectional-type sofas on the upper deck, but those were only occupied. Unfortunately, those are the only two soft places to sit. But I didn't find the hard chair too uncomfortable. The boat pulled out from the dock and we cruised slowly around the harbor and out where we could see the suspension bridge all lit up. They played soft music for the entire hour, which was really nice. It had been a very hot day, and I was surprised by how cold the air was out on the water. I did see the waiters bringing blankets to people, but I did bring my jacket, so I was fine. There are ships sitting on the water strung with lights and older vessels that reminded me of pirate ships. Literally, everywhere you look there are lights. The way they shine across the water is so beautiful. There were even fireworks off in the distance. I really enjoyed this cruise. The crew was so nice and the experience so peaceful and filled with beauty. Perfect way to kick off a birthday weekend. All the amazing things I did in Boston have me planning a return trip there for my birthday next year, and this was definitely one of the deciding factors! Highly recommended. read more

Yes it's a bit pricy for 2 hour cruise but it does come with brunch. It costs $70 for each adult, food was good with smoked salmon, salads, potatoes, bacon, pasties, bagels and other sweets. Only thing is salmon is one plate and no more after that is gone. Otherwise the food was good and service was self served. Drinks were coffee/tea/water. Cruise was fantastic and the views were priceless. The narrator was ok not that funny, just informational regurgitation. Love the views. Our cruise got a sunny but cold day, I loved it!!! read more

Everything was above and beyond. Northern Lights is a beautiful wooden boat, comfortable even on a rainy night, party of 20 and everyone was pleased. Even those who weren't as keen on the experience. We went as a group on the 6pm cocoa cruise. There was a band playing holiday music, a hot cocoa bar, drinks and flatbreads to order. It felt very kid-friendly and safe but also enjoyable for adults. There were many groups and families as well as couples out for a special night. The ride was smooth. The staff were pleasant, upbeat, and accommodating. They even have a shout out for my sister's engagement which was a nice personal touch. My family was initially skeptical if they would enjoy a boat ride but the city view was so beautiful at night, the atmosphere indoors was cozy, and outside upstairs was refreshing (luckily warm for December). We did the Schooner Adirondack III on a Saturday afternoon as the kickoff to my friend's Bachelorette Party. We had GORGEOUS weather and the crew was very friendly & helpful. The man at the check-in counter was VERY patient with us, as 3 of our friends were running late. I didn't pay TOO much attention to the gorgeous views, as we were busy chatting, eating (you can bring your own food) and partaking in the $5 Prosecco (although the first round was flat). For $5, you get a very generous poor - much larger than expected. Overall, this is a great experience and totally worth the money (which is not too expensive). read more

We had exactly 24 hours to see the wonderful city of Boston and we were so happy we booked the Northern Lights Sunset Cruise at 6:30pm. There was one later but I'm glad we went with the earlier one in the evening to see the sunset on the water. It was a really beautiful way to see the city. There was a bar downstairs with light snacks. It was a perfect way to start our only night in Boston and we were able to go to a nice dinner from there. The views were incredible. The tour guide part could've had more information or talked more about the city but they didn't say very much and that's the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. read more

We had booked a sunset cruise on 10/08/22 to celebrate my aunt's 70th birthday. We walked around for 30 minutes trying to find the meeting place for the cruise. The dock was not marked, and we walked up and down the harbor trying to find where we needed to go. We saw another group who were also having trouble finding the designated meeting place. After 30 minutes, I found the tour desk and asked where we needed to go to find the dock. The agent (Carlee) said that the boat had already left and not to worry, there were other customers who also couldn't find the meeting place either. She took my information and told me that the manager would call me the next day to discuss a refund. I never got a call from the manager so when I got home, I contacted Get Your Guide (Classic Harbor Line LLC) customer service. I was disappointed to hear that they wouldn't offer to refund our tickets. The best they would offer was to put us on another cruise. We live in NJ, so this wasn't a feasible option since we had already come home. There were so many other tour companies that we could have booked through and looking back, I wish we did. This company had no problem taking our money for a service that they didn't provide. I cannot recommend this company to anyone, and I will certainly not be booking anything future through them. My girlfriend and I set sail on the Adirondack III for the 1-3p tour. Aside from it being a perfect day weather wise, the staff, crew, and amenities were all great! For starters, the ticketing office was helpful and, since we were flying out shortly after, they let us store two carry-on bags in their office. We arrived 10-15 before departure which allowed us to choose any spot on board. We sat to the rear of the vessel which had cushioned seats and easy access to the bathrooms. The captain and crew were very friendly, personable and knowledgeable. We both really enjoyed ourselves and the trip was well worth the price. Reviewing the Northern Lights boat after our second time on it. We had previously taken it for a morning brunch cruise and enjoyed that, even on a dreary October morning. That captain narrated very well and we even had the opportunity to spend time in the bridge talking with her. Food was decent but standard. This most recent trip was for the 4 pm harbor cruise. It was a nice day so lovely being out on the water, but the narration and "tour" part to this trip was decidedly lacking. The person who randomly and very occasionally decided to explain an island or two or other sight sounded either disinterested or over it. Comparing the two the only tour one was far inferior to the brunch cruise. Perhaps it depends on the captain that day. read more

Mother bought me and my husband tickets for the brunch cruise around Boston Harbor for Sunday August 27th. The check in staff for the tickets were incredibly friendly, good start to the tour. The staff on board was very friendly as well, another good sign. The food was just ok, nothing too over the top that I'd call home for. Bacon was perfect though. Traveled from the warf by Logan, through some islands offshore, back to the warf and around to see the bunker hill monument and then to the dock. PROS: Started promptly at 11:30am. Total time of 2.5 hours from dock to dock. Nice slow pace but not too slow that you died of boredom. Played a mix of music from old classic rock to today's hits. When an important monument or site was coming up, they gave a brief history lesson. Weather was perfect for a boat ride. Wasn't crowded and could easily switch seats of wanted. CONS: Food was just ok. Nothing spectacular. "Dessert" was chocolate chip cookies. On another note: it's just worth it to be THAT close to a plane landing and taking off. The planes fly right over your head. It's an incredible experience to say the least. read more

Planning a wedding... in general.. is not easy. Never mind planning a wedding in Boston. We were a little in over our heads, but just worked at it to make it the best day ever. Of course, the day wouldn't have gone as smooth if it weren't for the help of all our family, friends...and VENDORS! Our ceremony was aboard the Northern Lights Yacht, out on Boston Harbor, and it was everything we could ever want. Susan was so great to work with from start to finish. She was even there the day of the wedding to be sure stuff went smoothly. She answered any and all questions we had and was so accommodating to us. The bar was open for the guests prior to the ceremony (who doesn't want to sip on a mimosa while the couple exchanges vows?!) and I was comfortably situated in the private "bridal" suite awaiting to walk down the aisle. The rest of the staff was great and we just LOVED the Captain. They took us out to a great spot in the Harbor, and turned the boat around so the city was our backdrop for the ceremony. Our guests loved it...we loved it...and it was certainly a unique spot for a wedding!! read more

What's the best place to go shopping on the ocean? Answer: a Sailboat!! My friends got me this sailing trip as my birthday surprise. In fact, they gave me this riddle above to guess what it was. After a few hints... I finally got it! Blame it on the Martinis... I can't express how much I love my experience sailing with Adirondack III!! The crew was courteous, knowledgeable and very responsible. I didn't know what to expect as I never sailed before. The boat was a lot bigger than I thought.The Adirondack III can hold approximately 25-30 ppl and we sailed from the Boston Harbor. It was a gorgeous day and it felt so incredibly refreshing and breezy onboard. The boat was very steady, to my surprise. And since Logan airport is right by the bay, you see flights landing every 2 minutes! I would recommend not wearing flip-flops or sandals because you will be flipping from side to side at times. Also, hold on to your phone and purses! The ticket includes free beverages (water & soda). Beers and wine are $5. My trip took about 2hrs. read more

A friend and I took the sunset cruise last night and it was amazing! Not only is the boat spectacular but the crew is super friendly and knowledgeable. Captain Tim is fun and very laid back and after a few safety tips he got us right out into the harbor-and quite smoothly I might add! It was amazing to watch the crew raise those huge sails over our heads and then see them fill with wind as we went along. The boat is very comfortable-we sat up front so we could get a better view of the city but from what I heard, there really isn't a bad seat on the boat. Soda and water are free (where can you get THAT in Boston?!) and beer and wine is only $5. There weren't any snack on board but they said you could bring them with you if you wanted to. Next time, that's what I'll do. This would be an amazing date night but was also so much fun with my friend! I highly recommend you book a trip before the end of their season! read more

This was such a nice experience. After living in Boston for a few months it was nice to finally get out on the harbor for a beautiful sunset cruise. My boyfriend booked this through groupon which offered an amazing deal. The captain and staff were courteous, funny and knowledgeable. The weather was great, we enjoyed a few beers and got a new view of the awesome city we live in. I recommend bringing snacks (we didn't) to enjoy with your drinks. This was one of the highlights of my 1st trip to Boston! I highly recommend it for tourists and non-tourists alike. I bought tickets for 2 for a boat ride on the Northern Lights boat on a Saturday night off of Goldstar website. It was advertised as romantic after dinner cruise. It definitely felt romantic. I brought printed tickets but you have to trade it in for their admission tickets in their office. The entrance for my ride was gate B. You're allowed to bring your own food onto the boat but not your own alcohol. The weather was perfect and the boat ride was extremely relaxing and peaceful. It was smooth and lovely. Because we went at night, we were able to see pretty night lights of the city and wharf. The wharf itself felt very upscale and nice. The boat was clean, well kept and had friendly staff. The bar is located downstairs and there are bathrooms upstairs. The upstairs deck has an uncovered area (toward the front of the ship), and a covered area in the back with some lights around the ceiling. There are lounge furniture pieces in the middle of the 2nd floor of the boat. They played really hip music that included 3 Post Malone songs, Ariana Grande and BTS's Fake Love. They also sold snacks/food. I had a gin cocktail with peaches for $12 (it had a lot of gin, and there were real peaches cut into it) and my fiance had rose wine for $6. It was the best $15.75 (per ticket) ever spent. read more

Our sunset cruise was first cancelled due to the remnants of Hurricane Elsa coming through. The next day it rained and rained, but in the late afternoon the skies cleared. We called to see if we could get rescheduled on a cruise for that night. Nick was a joy to work with, and we had a marvelous time on the Adirondack III with captain and crew. They were personable and fun, and it was amazing to watch them work over that 2 hour cruise time. Sunset was gorgeous, the city all lit up was breathtaking.
