What do you get a guy who has everything - you get him an experience he has never had! Helicopter! I called them up- got my appointment on his Birthday; no problem. Day's later- I decided to take it a step further. I noticed we lived not that far off the flight path- and thought "how cool would it be if I made a GIANT sign on the roof of our home, then got to fly over it...?" I called and asked Seattle HeliTours- please please can you fly over my home... they called me back with a YES! This part may make you ill; the day before I bought 4' Blue Painters Tape went on the roof and taped a huge I LOVE YOU. The day of the flight the pilot maintained the surprise for my boyfriend; they were professional, kins, bend over backwards kind of folks! We did 2 circles around the house and my Boyfriends Birthday was a success as was his surprise! The views, the helicopter, the pilot everything was an experience of a lifetime.

Jay gave us the choice of where we wanted to fly, it was a great evening flight where he flew to see Mt. Rainier, Mt Adams and Mt St. Helen. Then he flew us to Bellevue circled around the city and headed to the Space Needle. It was unbelievable how close he flew to the Space Needle and downtown Seattle. He then headed down the straits back to Gig Harbor, explaining all the sights along the way. He then circled around Fox Island did a great landing at the airport for a great flight. It will be a birthday I will never forget.

As more of my friends have crossed this age milestone, I've seen the full spectrum of responses: people who downplay it and later wish they'd done something special, people who throw huge parties and regret the stress and effort, and people who choose extreme adventures only to find the adrenaline crash leaves them feeling depleted afterward, bringing '50' home in a hard way. If you are a couple please note that you may be put into a plane with other people regardless of what plane and option you picked. You will not know about it until you get to the meeting point and one couple will not get to sit together. Thus, it may be better to look into other companies and there are others! If you are planning to go as a group, there are better and more professional establishments which are cheaper and/or same priced. The only saving point of this establishment is Mark (seaplane pilot) who made all the efforts to not only ensure that our experience on the air was great but also to redeem the Company. Overall, in the state where aviation is one of the major industries, there are better, more professional, and cost efficient companies and small businesses. Try them. They will have more respect and consideration for your experience. If you insist on booking from this establishment, exaggerate your weight to make sure that they cannot fly anyone with you.

Thankfully, our pilot, James, was a jovial fellow with a good command of his craft. A short three minutes later I felt my pucker give way to a state of enrapturement at the Seattle skyline from several hundred feet in the air. There is a certain giddiness that comes from laughing in the face of your own mortality, especially with James on the mike. We didn't know anything about going on safari, and Phil build a custom trip that catered to exactly our personal travel style of going to some of the more off-the-beaten-path places with fewer tourists, but still lots of amazing experiences (we watched a family of elephants chase off a pair of male lions!). Everyone we met was on their 4th or 10th safari and when they found out we'd never been before, they'd always ask, "So how did you even find this place?" Also I had no idea you could have a vacation with this much adventure and yet zero stress. Having Phil take care of everything and getting it all arranged for and paid in advance took a HUGE load off of us, which was so great as we both have jobs where we typically do a lot of planning and project management.
