Upon an enquiry from a customer, I heard the storekeeper suggested the customer to check out local animal shelters and offer discounted check up ( i think... or discounted product?) if they do adopt from the shelter. I thought this was a very positive attitude. Logistically, this store is located within Northcote plaza. Rabbit hays were for sale $8.95 per bag and Oaten hays $9.95 which is maybe one of the cheapest around. Loyalty club was offered where you get your 9th bag of hay free, I assume it is a similar deal with other animal products of your choice it's worth checking out and support this local friendly store. P.S. dont touch cocky the cockatoo, he may bite. but do say hi to Thelma and Louise the bunnies and other cutie patooties bunnies there aaargghh die with cuteness!!!

Not only that, the staff seem to know their stuff when it comes to asking questions about products, and often they have a personal anecdote and recommendation about what they do for their own pets. I've got a decent number of pets - two Bengal cats, a fairly young puppy, and a turtle named Neil. As you would imagine, I spend a bit of cash when it comes to looking after them all. Since Petstock opened in Vermont South, they've saved me a small fortune - as much as 25% on some items, and that's not on sale either. And thanks to them, Neil gets a steady stream of feeder fish instead of (or sometimes in addition to) those horrible frozen fish pellets. Neil likes the fish so much that he's adopted two of them, and one of those is now nearly big enough to need his own tank. If you're a breeder of domestic pets (my wife and I used to breed Bengals), they stock super large bags (like 15-25kg) of cat and dog food, and if they don't have it, they're happy to order it in. They also offer services like puppy school, and they have a good rewards program for loyal customers.

It has taken about five different types of dry dog food before she's found one that she likes. That would normally be a massively expensive exercise, considering I'm buying the good stuff. But Petstock Vermont South has been extremely helpful. All I need to do is return the opened package and they'll exchange it without cost to me (except when there's a price differential). They'e made me quite a fan. That is customer service.

Our dog is a big boxer and trying to wash him at home is super difficult. He either jumps out of the bath or runs away from the hose in the backyard, either way it is a total pain in the you-know-where. The Happy Pet Company has a bath with nice high sides and plenty of washing settings in the hose. It is operated with coins so make sure to bring plenty of gold. It generally costs us around $8 to give him a thorough scrubbing and about $5 for a lazy wash. The shop itself also sells dog treats, dog food, toys and bedding. They offer dog washing and grooming as well but this is a little expensive for my budget. Be careful if you come here with a big dog as there are often dogs all over the place. Our dog loves 'socialising' with other dogs but sadly others don't like being pinned to the floor with a big paw. For this reason I always go early in the morning to avoid the crowds.

The staff are great, and the Vets themselves are really friendly, and genuinely concerned for your pet. Each time my dog has been in, they have completed her treatment with a one on one chat about her health and what procedures went on. Another great thing about Boronia Vet is the price. I tried another vet once, and found their prices 20% higher than those here. Having been completely refurbished recently, the premises are clean and modern, and although I'm sure the animals don't really notice, it is a nice touch for the owners.

First of all this place shouldn't be called Value Vet as it's not really cheap. There are probably…read moremore expensive vets around, but I have been to cheaper. Many of the vets are good and I happily took my dog here for two years and was quite happy with them. Then my dog got a hair ball stuck in his abdomen and after $1000 worth of tests, they still had no idea what was wrong with him. They decided that they would start giving him different medication, which I had to pay for, until they could figure it out. At this point he had barely eaten any food in almost a week. Worst of all, they asked to see me every time I came back. Each 5 minute talk to me cost me another $70 for a consultation. After spending all this money, I took my dog to the RSPCA vet in Burwood. They charged me $40 for a second opinion, then another x-ray, which showed the obstruction. The full tests and operation there cost me $1000 compared to the $1000 at Vermont Value Vet just for tests. I worry that if I had kept taking my dog for more medication, he wouldn't be alive today. Unfortunately two years of good service, doesn't make up for a not being able to see a hairball and almost cost my dog his life. If you have a small problem with your dog and need somewhere close, this place is fine. If you are worried about your dog and he may need tests done, take him elsewhere.
