Mercy immediately put us at ease with her genuine smile, approachable demeanor, and patient guidance. She has a gift for breaking down complex techniques into simple, easy-to-follow steps that made the whole process feel fun and attainable. Whether it was explaining the basics of centering clay on the wheel or showing us how to shape it with precision, she never once made us feel rushed or intimidated. Instead, she encouraged us to embrace the imperfections, reminding us that pottery is as much about creativity and connection as it is about the finished piece. What really stood out was how attentive Mercy was to both of us. She noticed when my girlfriend's hands needed a little more water to smooth the clay, or when my wheel speed was a bit too fast, and she gently corrected us without breaking our confidence. Her personalized attention made us feel like we were in the hands of a true professional who genuinely cared about our experience. By the end of the class, we had each created something we were proud of and more importantly, we had shared an experience that brought us closer together. She want to "help artists help themselves." According to their website "Oolite Arts seeks to be the bedrock of the visual arts in Miami. Formed over time, it is composed of residents, alumnae, curators and visitors, coming together to build a community around contemporary art - a fundamental part of our arts ecosystem." Today Oolite Arts provides artists with the free studio space, the chance to exhibit their work, and support. The building contains artists' studios, small exhibitions spaces, and the group's offices. You can take classes or attend events in the building. Oolite also operates out of a new location at 75 NW 72nd St where they will offer more than 200 art classes and launch a visual art program for teens. Oolite Arts recently sold one its two Lincoln Road buildings and there are plans to build and open a new building in Little River later in 2023. Little River is becoming an alternative location for artists priced out of nearby Wynwood. The new building will have two dozen studios for the group's residency program where artists can get free space for two years, an exhibition space, a theater for films and lectures or presentations, a studio, and offices. Any organization that supports and facilitates the arts is a worthwhile one to support. They help artists who might otherwise not be able to afford studio space to have a place to work and exhibit. It looks like they have some amazing plans in the works to help even more artists in the future. This is a fantastic organization. Stop by for inspiration and culture.

You can participate in the still life of the day or you can do your own thing and either way the instructor will help and give positive advice and critiques. Members bring their own paper, paints and brushes but the easels, desks and water containers are provided. It's been an overall very fun experience.

My first thought was "oh god they're going to tell us paint whatever you want" and that's not what I was looking for - I expected more of a paint by numbers and was a little dismayed when I got a blank canvas! Felipe was our instructor and he made me feel totally at ease. He had a great personality and awesome sense of humor. He was totally accommodating of my ADD (The class can be a little slow at times) and encouraged me to get really creative with my artwork. We had such a fantastic time! I would totally recommend this to anyone who is just looking for something fun to do or someone who needs a good stress reliever. I personally am a fan of coloring to relieve my stress but this is definitely a much better and more fun option in my opinion, especially because there's alcohol involved! We ran into a few snags at first because we Googled the address and it took us to a completely different place than the address that the Groupon listed. Good thing we checked-we were about to go knock on a random person's apartment door. We actually showed up to the studio early even with the delay, and that doesn't seem to be the trend. The other people in our party came a bit late because they had been pregaming a bit and the other 6 decided not to show at all. About 30-40 minutes after the official start time, Felipe decided to actually start the painting-and it's a good thing that he didn't wait for the rest of the class to show up. We wanted to paint a sailboat that we saw on the wall, but evidently since he was so sick of doing that particular one we played a little bit of improv. There was definitely people on the other side of me who ended up accidentally drinking their paint water instead of their wine and dunking their paintbrushes in wine. Having wine in cups instead of wine glasses (and next to paint water cups) is dangerous while drinking. We had a blast, Felipe is awesome and was drinking right along with us. He's very talented and clearly has fun doing what he does. The studio does adult parties with booze as well as a lot of parties for kids as well. I think this is an awesome way to relax and create something, even if you think you're not artistic. It's amazing to express yourself. Even if it ends up being an abstract.

We called the shop and even though there wasn't a scheduled class, she set up a jewelry making class for us. We showed up a little before 3pm (classes are Monday-Saturday from 3-5pm), she was setting up the area. She walked us through basics of glass and then showed us how to set up our pieces. She only had a few drawings on the glass of fish and palm trees, so she went to do more, she very kindly did a heart and a turtle on request. It was fun, she was nice to talk to and the shop did have some beautiful pieces. The cost was $95 for the 4 pendants and the class which I felt was very reasonable. She also does other classes and I will definitely be going back to make the sun catcher. I do hope business picks up in the area, I see a lot of the mom and pop stores closed down and the chain stores come in. The keys are losing their charm with all the chains.
