Mixed feelings. I was excited to have the buffet again after new management restored it. The service outstanding. A kind waitress did pointed out which items contained gluten and nuts. I was able to enjoy the buffet. :) The food is where I have very mixed feelings. For 22 dollars, it's pricy. 28 USD with a 20% tip. Cheaper than other restaurants that do 20 USD an item. Tandori Chicken - A bit salty. Decent. Rice - Nice and warm. Not overcooked or undercooked. Vegetarian Coconut Curry - Mixed feelings. It's average and feels like its missing something. Maybe sugar? I have been coming to Claypit for the last several years, and I have never been disappointed in food quality! My favorites are the mango curry, tomato butter chicken, tikka masala, garlic basil naan, vegetable samosas, and their mango shake. I am a mild spice person, but the rest of my family loves their "medium" level of spice. I always recommend Claypit to people who love Indian food! The inside of the restaurant is nice, with fairly quick service. My one small exception to that is getting the water for the table refilled, but they are happy to upon request! Ok. First off they have a lunch buffet. If you aren't overly familiar with Indian food I highly recommend it. I'm not a fan of buffets but they do a good job of stocking with fresh food and keep it pretty clean. I was there last for dinner. The food is not heavily spiced but it is tasty. Pretty standard restaurant in Mill Creek. Gonna be real honest and say I would not have spent an hour and a half in traffic if it wasn't for my friends. My allergies were pretty bad the day we were here and the very strong smell of incense did not help at all. Service was okay, they came by to take our order and then basically just left us alone HHaha. We started with a couple appetizers followed by food. My friends got tikki masala and paneer saag. I just got the tandoori chicken. I've always said that indian food is on the pricier side but man, when they bought out the food, the serving size made me not want to ever come back up here haha. Everything was so small. Those entrees are meant for one person. I was rather disappointed with my meal. My chicken wasn't as flavorful as I'd hope it would be and the garlic naan didn't taste like garlic. . I've always loved Claypit's food, but hated the service (hence my previous 1 star review)! I vowed never to go back again! Recently, I walked by Claypit and noticed a sign that it's now under new management! I thought, hhmm maybe I should give them a try! They recently changed management in July! My husband and I came in for lunch today and were pleasantly greeted by the waiter and were also surprised that they offered buffet! It's a perfect way for me to try different food! The food was fantastic! We were serviced by 3 different people and they were all very pleasant! The manager even checked in with us and he was genuinely kind. I think they're definitely trying to change their image and don't want to be associated by the previous owner. The food was already amazing, the place is clean, and if they continue on with great service... they'll definitely have a winning recipe and will have a loyal customer out of me! UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT!!! Sumit and family have taken over Claypit and have really turned it around. The last time we visited 3 years ago, we were pretty disappointed in our experience. That's not the case anymore. The food quality, customer service, and atmosphere have all improved greatly. Some of the old staff are still working here, but it's obvious that it was a leadership issue with the old management. Everyone seems much happier, service is friendly and genuine, and the menu has been thoughtfully curated with some well-executed expected classics (the biryani is out of this world) as well as some great twists. Claypit Indian Restaurant For many years, we used to go to Claypit for dinner. It was owned by a brother and sister duo from India. We used to have many friendly conversations with the sister. Around 7 years ago, my wife and I went in for dinner in the evening around 8 pm.. The restaurant was empty, except for a couple of tables that were occupied. We asked the host for a booth. All the booths were empty. The host told me, the booths were only for 4 people. I informed him that the booths were available and the restaurant was going to close in an hour. The owner (brother) was on the floor. I approached him about getting a booth. He got angry, yelling at me and telling us to leave the restaurant. Wow. We were taken back by his response and started to leave. As we were leaving, we saw another couple had the same issue and were also leaving. The owner started to run after them to plead with them to come back, but they were gone. I recently observed a banner on the restaurant building that it was under "New Ownership". Yesterday, my wife and I decided to give them a try. The new owner's wife Mrs. Rishi seated us at a small booth. We did not complain because it was early in the evening and maybe they had big parties coming later.. Halal is the method of slaughter that is part of the Muslim religious tradition, like Kosher is to Judaism. Most Indian, Muslim, Hindu and Sikh owned restaurants serve Halal, which benefits them by getting the Muslim clientele that prefer Halal.. The owner Mr. Rishi came by to take our order. I asked him if the meat in the Beef Samosas was Halal. He abruptly said, "No, No. We don't serve Halal." I believe he assumed that we were not Muslims and he could share his true feelings about not serving halal meat. I informed him that Restaurant Depot in Woodinville has plenty of halal beef, lamb and chicken. His reply was," Yes I know. I have visited Restaurant Depot and I know they sell lots of halal meats. I did not want halal meat for my restaurant, so I quickly got out of Restaurant Depot." His reply stunned me. It seemed to me that there was more to his agenda then just the idea of serving halal meat in his restaurant. As a Muslim, I felt uncomfortable being in his restaurant. I did not want to create a scene and walk out, so we decided to order some halibut, vegetable soup and naan bread. Mrs Rishi took care of us during the meal. A very sweet lady with sincere feelings towards us. She went out of her way to make sure everything was satisfying to us. We enjoyed her service and she set a good example of Hindu hospitality towards a Muslim family. She knows how to treat guests in her restaurant. Due to Mrs. Rishi's kind and genuine treatment of us, I decided to send an email message to her husband, via the "Contact Us'" page for Claypit. I wanted to find out his feelings before writing a review. His comments did nothing to change my feelings towards his words. I informed him that my issue was not with his decision to not provide halal meats in his restaurant. I would order something else if halal was not available.(like we did). My issue was the way he showed contempt for halal meat, as it relates to Muslims. In my opinion, there was a religious animosity coming from him. He tried to argue that he did not want to serve halal, which I believe is his absolute right. I would not feel comfortable going to his eatery, knowing the prejudice behind his thinking. I politely told him, we will not be coming back. Again, I have nothing but appreciation for Mrs. Rishi. She is an excellent human being without a strand of any prejudice against anyone. Thank you Mrs, Rishi. I am sorry we won't be able to return to get excellent service from you. The other employees were also nice and attentive to our needs. The food was good and flavorful. The experience I have written about here is my personal experience. I would urge others, including Muslims to do their own research into this eatery. Good spot for delicious Indian cuisine in Mill Creek. We dined here this weekend and had reservations and luckily no wait despite them being pretty busy. Open kitchen is nice to watch and it's a laid back casual atmosphere. Our servers were hard working, a bit to the point, but very efficient in caring for our needs. Water glasses were refilled constantly and food came out in a timely manner. Their curries and pakora were gluten free and that's all I ever really need to be happy. We had the paneer pakora, Tikka masala, vegetable paneer korma, and coconut chicken curry. Everything was delicious. Overall a solid place tho I don't know if I'd dine in again for the atmosphere but I'd definitely get take out. read more

Firstly, be careful of the hostess as you walk in. If you don't "do it right" you'll hear about it hard for sure. We started to walk to one of many open booths, but we're rudely told the booths were Only for parties of 4. So we got sat right in front of the extremely hot kitchen. Needless to say, not one of the booths were used during our entire visit. We were excited to try a new Indian place, but sadly the food didn't live up to the location or the restaurant. We are both vegetarian and we're expecting pretty good meals as usually Indian cuisine provides, but no dice. Very little vegetables in our dishes, the Samosa (appetizer) came out with our entrees and we're super dry and only partially filled. We haven't been here since they got rid of their famous buffet. This visit was the first time we had seen their menu, we had just always gone to the buffet for all of our prior visits. Their menu was huge.... We were overwhelmed with the amount and variety of items. There's no way anyone who isn't already familiar with Indian cuisine would know what to order. I have eaten here so many times and just realized I have never posted a review. Shame on me but never too late! This is an all round family favorite. It appeases the palates of the grown ups, the adventurous 4 year old and the picky 7 year old. The restaurant is located in the Mill Creek Town Center and has plenty of parking. At lunch we love the buffet which allows us to taste a bit of everything and we can find out what the kids like and don't like. The buffet is clean, turned over frequently and always fresh. Cant go wrong with it. Dinners dine in can be slow because of how busy it can get with the dine in and crazy amount of to go orders. A good problem to have. We typically do take out since it is quicker and easier with the kids. The staff is always friendly. Our typical order consists of: 1) chicken tikka masala....always a crowd pleaser for all palates. 2) vegetable korma....so creamy and chocked full of veggies. This is one of my personal favorites. 3) tandoori chicken tikedar. This is all cubed breast meat and it is delish. Most places comes out dried out, but the six times I have ordered this it is always juicy. 4) something new. This past week we tried the baingan bharta which is roasted eggplant purée with cumin, tomatoes, onion and herbs and it is one of my new favorites.
