I can tell because I've gotten my lashes done here 15 times over the past few years. I came in for an ends trim and when I sat in the chair she showed me the amount of hair she was going to be cutting which was only an inch to cut the split ends only. But she completely chopped almost 4 inches off my hair I told her specifically I don't want a hair cut just an ends trim. Dont go to Lan if you want a quality and good outcome lash extensions. She does lousy job. Normally hybrid it takes 2 hrs. she does for an hour. She rushed doing your lashes cause theres someone waiting for haircut. My hybrid turns into volume. I did not like the outcome and asked her to fix it. i paid deposit to secure my reservation prior. I popped in for a walk in appointment and luckily Lan was available. I wear my hair short and layered and she gave me on of the best cuts I've ever had! I think I found my lash lady, and I couldn't be happier. As a mom of two, I don't have time to pee, shower, eat, or put on make up and lashes. I want to look pretty with my long lashes every morning effortlessly, which means, I need really nice lashes whenever possible. I called then texted to schedule an appointment. Quick communication - love that! Lan is super sweet and brutally honest. I can tell she works hard and is an expert at what she does (all beauty things - hair, lashes, eyebrows, etc.). I found Lan on Yelp and went by for my first eyelash extension appointment with Lan and also since the pandemic started!! I called ahead to make an appointment for volume extensions and Lan was able to see me the same evening! She does usually prefer 2-3 days notice though. Lan was extremely fast and she did not use any excess glue (no stinging when you open your eyes!) I needed these lashes for a weekend in Vegas and Lan delivered! I was shopping around for a place to try lash extensions and didn't have much time since I waited until the last minute to get them done before a wedding. Lan is the BEST permanent makeup artist I've ever come across...and I've have my brows done at LEAST 7 times in the last 20 years, and my liner done twice. She is about one-third the cost, one-quarter the pain, half the time, and TEN TIMES the quality of anyone else I've gone to! Everyone else's work has faded to about 20% of the desired darkness within a month of getting my brows done. I thought I was unlucky and my face just eats pigment...but NO. Lan's technique must be magical because these tattoos - brow and eye liner, too! - are the perfect color for me and they've lasted beautifully. I got my eyebrows microbladed by Lan and she did such an amazing job. She listened to what I want and performed her magic. She is very professional and nice. Microbalding does/did hurt a little but Lan always check on making sure if I was doing okay and tolerating the pain okay in which I did because she does use a numbing agent. I originally made the mistake of going to a "lash technician" I had never heard of and she really did me dirty and overcharged me for lashes that were going every which way, falling out and poking me in the eyes just minutes after leaving my appointment. In the place of the old cosmetology school near Treat & Clayton is a new salon with seasoned professionals (no more students giving their first haircut!). It's now a clean, open, breezy space with welcoming cookies and juice and and area to let the kids hang out while they wait. Both men, women, and children are welcome, and cuts are an affordable $12-$20+ depending on what you're having done. I've easily spent triple the $$ on haircuts that I regret the minute I leave - with my success rate I'm at the point where I only have my hair cut once a year. That ends now! Lan has been cutting my boyfriend's hair since the days of Cute Cuts (though I'll miss getting to make fun of him over the name of that place) and has been completely worth the trips from Walnut Creek. Thank god for Lan! I had my eyebrows micro bladed in Arizona by a different artist and the ink didn't stay and it was a lot of pain and money for it not to work. I had been searching for months for someone I would feel comfortable with to try it again. I saw a lot of great work from Lan's photos when I was looking around so I got in contact with her. My brows never grow in fully and the tails of my brows have always been sparse. NOW I have full natural brows, I don't have to spend extra time in the morning drawing them everyday and the pain level was nothing compared to what I felt with the other time I tried this. I found Lan thanks to Yelp reviews. The day before family Holiday photos, I decided I absolutely should have lash extensions for the first time. Lan was not only able to see me same day, she also was incredibly reasonably priced ($80 for a full set). The entire process took about an hour and she talked me through each step of the process (which I appreciated as you're sitting there for an hour or more with your eyes closed.) She was very thorough and made sure to understand exactly the look I was going for in detail. She stopped several times to confirm via mirror she was on the right path. This review is strictly for the eyelash extensions. I have always gotten X-Treme lashes done. Those are the ones that usually run $150-300 for a full set. My personal opinion is more like 3 stars overall but I always rate based on what you should expect at their level and hair/nail salon eyelash extensions are exactly this so for its class, it's good. I've been with my x-trend lash gal in LA for 3 years until relocating to the Bay. Trying to save money, I went for the hair/nail salon eyelash thing which runs more like $60-$80. Bottom line is, if you come from having the nice extensions done, this will be very different. If you've never had eyelashes done, you could start at this level but it might turn you off eyelashes altogether which isn't fair because Xtreme lashes (and other similarly priced extensions) are in a league of their own. My friend started at this level and swore off ever doing it again due to a bad reaction but the more expensive ones are not like this. Salon level $60-$80 extensions -look essentially as cute as expensive ones -but You can feel them, heavy, itchy -they're stiff to the touch, feel plasticky -they're not applied meticulously -some will inevitably be glued to eyelids -occasionally pokey feeling -Already coming off in chunks day 4 -Burning of the eyes during application -Some will continue to burn (my friends) -Done in about an hour $150-$300 extensions -can't feel them -applied under a magnifying glass -tech is picky about condition of ur lashes -never pokey feeling -doesn't burn -never glued to eyelids -soft touch, like your own hairs -multidimensional like real lashes -Lasts 3-4 weeks -Sheds naturally with your real lashes -Done in 2-3 hours Lan still does do an attractive lash set. They're cute to the naked eye and great for occasions. But just know what you're getting into. You realize the quality mostly if you're like me and have had the expensive extensions done for years. These are not as carefully applied as the expensive extensions. Proof being, a chunk fell out and you can see that a bunch were just thrown onto a lash whereas expensive lash extensions are applied carefully onto one and always a mm away from the eyelid. Some were on my actual eyelid. Lan is very nice and they run a good salon with happy clients. I overheard tons of adults and kids getting happy haircuts. She also does a loyalty program where your tenth eyelash extension is free. Again, great if you've never had it better and 4 stars if you understand what you're getting into. read more
