She does her best to work with my now limited income which has helped so much, and Andrea has been grooming my dogs since she was just a youngster. My Lhasa Apsos have given her plenty of hair to work with over the years. You can count on their choice in flea and tick protection, too, as I live out in the county where deer, coyotes, and ground squirrels surrond my yard, yet I have not seen one bug on my animals in many decades. Every time I've talked to someone on the phone or in person they are always SO mean and act like whatever we're talking about is a an absurd inconvenience. They seem like they don't have any compassion. I thought maybe they were having a bad day so I tried to be light hearted and nice... they were still so rude and acted very cold. My dog (Pomsky a little over a year old at the time) has issues with aggression primarily when he's sleeping and some resource guarding habits. This developed after having a cyst on his head. When we brought him in to get it looked at and for his shots, the doctor and assistant, knowing his issues, brought him into the back? I've always been in the room while they've given him shots and he's done amazingly. It's because of the pain he was in that he wasn't friendly. They reported the bite, understandably, but couldn't it have been avoided if they had just NOT taken a dog with aggression away from its owner? They told us we had a to do the "chill protocol" which basically means we brought him back the next day and gave him some melatonin and pain medicine before bringing him in. He was very distraught and confused, I understand why they wanted to do it, but it just left him a lot more scared of everything than he needed to be. They cleaned and drained the cyst as much as possible but they also created severe anxiety for him and he will probably hate every vet I take him too. I'm going to bring treats and see if we can make it positive again. I do NOT recommend coming here at all. Not to mention they charged me almost $1000 for the two visits?! We didn't even have the cyst removed (couldn't afford it). That's ridiculous. The cyst is back now and he just turned two as well so we are going to go get his shots done and schedule a surgery for removal. I will NEVER step foot in this place again.

Perfect example of why...I just went into Kryder to register my pets in St Joseph Count because the Humane Society website says you can to do it at ANY vet. Kryder followed this guidance and did it last year since my vet is in Michigan. The attendant looked at me like it was an imposition since I wasn't a customer. This IS exactly why I took my pets elsewhere...increasing prices, limited hours and waning customer service.

The business website does not give an exact address, so I'm doing what I can here to point out this business. It is Elder Rd., maybe 20 yards south of Day, on the right if you're headed south. My dog, who is now 5-and-a-half years old, had his puppy "kindergarten" here years ago--basic leash and manners training, some exposure to agility tasks, etc. The proprietor, Antoinette, is skilled, professional, smart, experienced, patient, everything you could want. I know that many people go on to do agility training with her for competition. For myself, my contact with her since puppy training has been going to her scheduled playtimes every so often and, especially, boarding during holiday and other trips. That's why I categorize this place under boarding rather than training, although she does both very wonderfully. To get more detailed: I spent some time taking my dog (a Brittany) to Linda's Camp K-9. I think that place is great, but I feel that my dog was a bit overtaxed by the all-day, open experience of the place. Not to be too graphic--but, hey, it's facts--when I left him there for the day while I was at work, he would have runny stools. One cause of that in dogs is excessive stress. He's an excitable and high energy boy, and a day at Camp K-9 would definitely leave him collapsed on the floor for the rest of the day to the morrow. When I want to board my dog for a few days or a week, I prefer Top Hat & Tails, because she releases the dogs a few times a day, pays close attention to them individually (she's a smaller operation), and I think his overall level of stress is lessened while his needs for running and sociality are still met. No runny stools. Now, I don't want to be dissing on Camp k-9--I'm pretty sure if I said only to let my dog out for an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon, then they might be able to do that (but I don't think they're set up to do that with all the dogs there; that would require a lot of crates). If you have a high-energy dog prone to excitement, then Top Hat is probably a preferable environment.

It's a low-rent building in a low-rent area on the south side of South Bend. The space is very…read moresmall, and the whining and wailing of all the pets (apparently including the vet's own pet!) is incessant. It's small, dirty and just a terrible atmosphere to put a distressed pet in. To top it all off, services and medications are vastly over-priced. One would think that this clinic would be very inexpensive. They are not. They are *vastly* more expensive than far more professional clinics in the area. I highly recommend against using them unless you like to take your pet to a trashy clinic and pay twice what you'd pay at a good one. At competent clinics in the area, full COVID procedures are in place. At Tender Care? COVID might as well not exist. So, for example, their policy is that their business requires being maskless. This is utterly ludicrous, as proved by the fact that other, professional veterinary clinics in the area are doing just fine while not pretending that COVID is non-existent. You should be concerned about the medical competence of a vet when the vet isn't concerned about the health of their clients or staff.

When we travel, Aunt Julie comes to take care of my kitty crew, which has changed over the years.
