We loved the cut Nicole gave our Ragdoll Ari! We got the lion cut, only $70, and dry shampoo and cut. We were so happy with the service. They were the sweetest people and very attentive. They also got us in and out which was awesome. Only took them about 30 min, and our kitty had so much fur! Nicole also went into detail about how ari was during the process and welcomed any questions. She also pointed out anything I should know, like the mats on his tummy that she had to remove. My cat has been getting groomed for over 5 years. Price is usually about $75-$80. I took her to this new place & they charged me $135! Plus I tipped over 20%. I got back a damp cat.. her eyes were swollen, she was congested and started coughing. Not to mention she was choppy, AND they didn't wash off the shampoo so she began licking her skin raw. I've groomed pets before, we CANNOT let them leave wet OR damp being that it is winter (it was raining as well) the animal WILL get sick. When I called the owner to discuss she had said I signed a waiver so there's nothing they can do besides bringing the cat back. Why would I bring my cat back after that experience? You get what you paid for I didn't pay $165 to get back a wet, sick, chopped up cat. I had to re-bathe her myself to get the shampoo out after paying so much money.. This was insane. We spoke a few times in between but nothing got resolved. She said she'd speak to her husband and call back which she never did. The way things were handled was wrong. The way that business is ran, is wrong. Very upsetting and unfortunate that it came to this. DO NOT bring your pets there. This groomer will rip you off let you get a sick pet in return and tell you they can't do anything about it because a waiver was signed! Horrible that it's a "family" owned business but they treat you like this! Very sad. I have pictures and videos of my poor baby after she got back from here. They ruined my beautiful pup. I want to cry every time I look at him. Shaved him literally down to the skin in some spots. My poor baby. For the $86 I was charged I could have bought a razor and did a better job myself..and that's IF I even wanted him shaved. I only wanted a trim, not every hair on his face shaved off. When I handed him over when I got there the guy took off his leash and collar and then struggled to pick him up to bring him to the back, nearly dropping him (he's 50 pounds). My dog was clearly frightened. Why couldn't he take him back on the leash? I should have taken my boy and ran right then. I blame myself. I should have waited for an appointment at my regular groomer, but this place was convenient and could take me right away. Next time I won't be so impulsive. :( read more

I brought my cat here and spent over $130 (which was the most expensive grooming I've ever brought her to) she was horribly cut and washed and she had so much anxiety when I brought her home. She was damp and her eyes were puffy and I had to wash her myself and bring her to the vet. 20+ years ago I was looking for a groomer who wouldn't want to sedate my fur baby! Sue & Steve came highly recommended and back than it was bringing my dog to their house. From the moment I met them they treated my dog as if he were theirs they became like family, always giving good sound advice in all areas of owning a pet! With all this being said, I felt such a Huge loss and had no clue where I was going to take my fur babies which left them long overdue! I have been having my cat groomed here for years. The previous owners and Nicole were great and I never left unsatisfied. However, Nicole is gone and sadly was the only one in that place that knows how to groom a cat. I gave the new owners a try, multiple tries actually...today being the third but I will never bring him back there again. Let me start by saying that with the previous owners, my cat never needed to be sedated to be groomed. After his first visit with the new owners they said going forward he would need to be sedated. They didn't do a good job but I know it is difficult grooming a cat and takes some experience. (Nicole knew what she was doing). I spoke to his vet about it and she prescribed him Gebapentin for future grooming visits. The second time I brought him there they didn't do the best job but he was groomed well enough that I wouldn't have complained. Today however was the last straw. I pick him up and was told that they couldn't do the back of his legs because he was getting fussy but everything else was done. Okay fine. I get home with Sunny only to see that he is limping around, and his whole back half isn't done. My first concern is why is he limping - that has absolutely never happened before and then secondly... you just charged me for full service grooming and did a half ass job, literally. Well not really, his entire ass wasn't shaved, along with his legs and tail. They also didn't clip his nails which is basic grooming. So now, not only did I pay for a service I didn't receive but I have to bring Sunny to the vet since he is having trouble walking. Do not bring your cats here, they don't know what they are doing and it's not worth having your pet get injured while they try to figure it out. read more

Absolutely horrible. My friend brought her cat in for a simple grooming and ended up needing to bring her cat to the vet! Her cat was given back to her still damp in the middle of winter, she had swollen eyes and she kept licking and biting at her fur due to the shampoo not being thoroughly washed out... When my friend called them, the woman who answered told her that she signed a waiver and there was nothing she could do, nor would she be refunded in any way... what kind of customer service is that!? Clearly, this establishment does not care about your pets well being so if you like your pet at all, do not bring them here. read more

Horrible experience here. I called two weeks prior to my puppy's appointment so he could be ready for Christmas. when i called to make the appt. I explained what kind of dog he was, this was going to be his first real haircut (he's been trimmed in the past), and what I was expecting from the appointment. I asked questions about using scissors etc. I get there and as soon as the owner saw my pup he said "we'd have to shave him." I asked why and he said "because I can't get a comb through there" I asked for the comb and it went right through his hair, he is brushed and combed daily. He then said there are three other groomers in the area use them so long story short this guy was too lazy or inexperienced to actually groom my puppy. I told them exactly what kind of dog he was and what I was expecting. He left me high and dry two days before chirstmas. So unprofessional! Hideous treatment! read more

I used lean As A Whisker for years and was more than satisfied. I can't say enough good about the previous owners. My deepest condolences to their family. Today I got two of my dogs groomed there and they did a very good job with the cuts. However when I picked my dogs up the employees were both up front while one of my dogs was in the back on a grooming table unattended. One employee was taking business related calls and the other was watching TV. My poor dog had a leash around his neck and was standing on the table with nobody watching him. He is older and not that coordinated so I thought that it was a dangerous situation. He has a bad heart and is very timid and was probably terrified as he stood alone restrained on a table. I'm not sure if he could have slipped out of the leash around his neck or even tried to jump off the table with the leash on his neck. No dog should be left unattended while we standing on a grooming table. Any dog in this situation should be under direct visualization at all times.Sadly ,after many years I will have to find a new groomer. Today was my four month old miniature schnauzer first grooming appointment. I was extremely nervous even with all the researching I did because it's very easy to mess up a miniature schnauzers classic look. But, I can not even express how AMAZING "clean as a whiskers" is. Extremely friendly staff, absolutely adored Nicole & Steven. I would also like to mention how incredibly fast they are. He was only there for a little over an hour when they called. When we got their I was blown away with the result. Not only did Rocky( our puppy) look amazing but every other dog they had did as well. Another positive feedback I can provide is that they are very affordable. We only paid an estimate of $64 for his haircut which saved us some room to shop around there retail area. They have adorable outfits, treats, etc. for all pets. Definitely can't wait to bring Rocky (our puppy) back for his next grooming appointment. The man behind the counter flat out refused to cut my dog (after saying they'd fit us in so long as I got there by noon) stating her coat was too matted for them to deal with. Granted, our 8 lb. dog was overdue for a cut, but we wash/comb her every week and was not impossible to cut...But he just couldn't be bothered. Today I went to bring my dog to clean as a whisker on Hawkins Avenue in Ronkonkoma for a grooming. My family has used this place with the previous owners since they opened so I wanted to continue to give this place business when I got my own dog. My husband and I went there today to drop off our French bulldog and when I first got there I had to give the lady at the front desk our information and while I was doing so I could hear an employee in the back yelling at a dog. She was verbally abusing this dog cursing very loudly, calling the dog terrible names and shoving the dog while he was attached the table with a leash. This was a small White dog getting groomed. I saw this going on and I told the woman I was not leaving my dog here. I was so upset and disgusted by this place! I could not believe this was going on! I called later to complain to the woman at the front desk and she told me that this was that employees last day but I don't care if you have people like that working with animals To begin with I don't feel safe leaving my dog with you. The owner called to apologize later also but I still cannot trust this place with my dog. I have never made a complaint about a business especially a local family owned business in my hometown. I am so disappointed and upset by this and I will never feel comfortable leaving my dog anywhere where I cannot see him at all times. I was trying to stay and wait for the family of the white dog I saw being abused but we had our 7 month old son with us and could not wait any longer. I am sorry for this family. Please for everyone in the community do your research before bringing your dog to this terrible place. Horrible horrible horrible!!! My tiny shitzu was cut and bleeding badly in several places! They covered up with white powder and said NOTHING!!! I was going there for years and the owners were great when they were involved and actually cared at one time!! Now they have a bunch of flunky kids who don't know what they're doing! My dog had a card but it was conveniently LOST on the day she was cut so badly!! We went right back to the owner... and you know what that creep did... gave us a bottle of antiseptic and said sorry about that!! We never went back again!! My gentle girl was traumatized and it took a long time for her to heal! That's how badly they cut her... and they were so dishonest ... they never had any intention of saying anything.. like we wouldn't notice!! They didn't even try to make things right!! My dog has a long thick coat. I cannot manage it alone. When I moved to the area I tried every groomer. This place is really great! The staff are friendly and my dog always comes out looking and smelling wonderful. He walks in with ease. He's usually done in 2 hours, which is great for me and him. My only complaint is for a bath and shave I pay 110$ but trying other places I have found its worth it. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is for price I pay. read more

Steve calls me early to come in earlier because "he wanted to close the shop earlier" I told him I couldn't but I ended up showing up 1/2 early for my appointment and what transpired from there was just unprofessional and LAZY! Steve the owner is a quack and is lazy!!!!! He told me he would have to shave my pups down to the skin in 30 degree weather!!!! I showed him a picture of what I wanted my dogs to look like and he said no way, can't happen. He told me my dogs are matted and needed to be shaved like his bald head! My dogs are brushed everyday and one of their hair is a little more coarse than the other. Go figure he told me the one with the coarse hair was ok but the one with the fine hair was matted. ALL IN ALL.... he needs to retire because his business will shut down for being unprofessional and lazy OR he will get punched for being just plain rude!! read more

I get there to pick her up and they were screaming at her to "stop" and to "shut up" because she was barking. I get her and out of there as fast as possible! I normally like this place, since they do really get the dog clean (as a whisker ;)), but today I picked up my Westie, and she no longer looked like a Westie! They gave her a complete short buzz cut (Westies are supposed to have skirts and furry legs and such). I paid over $60 for something I could have easily done at home. To be fair, my dog had some matted fur, but not to the extent that required a buzz cut. When I groom her at home, I find the matts come out easily with a good brushing. The few that get left behind I can snip away WITHOUT making my dog look like a freak. It seemed this place wanted to take the quick way out, leaving a very unhappy customer. :( read more

The best haircut my 2 terriers have ever received!! We have taken these dogs to a couple of very highly rated places in Brooklyn and Chicago, but these haircuts are by far and away the best cuts I have seen. We have two terriers--a Scottish terrier and a Cairn terrier, who can be a handful, even for us, who are pretty used to their antics. The Cairn has never let anyone, including his vet, cut his toenails before (he is 5.5 years old). His vet would have to hold him down with an assistant to cut his nails and actually told us that we would probably have to start giving him tranquilizers to get his nails done in the future. Well, they got his toenails cut, and actually told us that he wasn't that bad! The Scottie looks particularly dashing, with these terrific little ear tufts that he's never had before. We will be back--our dogs have found their new grooming home! The owner is also very, very friendly and they listened really closely to what he wanted when we brought the dogs in. Just called to bring my dog there as a first time customer. I was excited after seeing all the positive reviews and great photos! The man who answered was rude and very short with me. Besides the fact that they charge $58+ tax in Ronkonkoma for a 9lb dog is very expensive compared to my last groomer (who was fantastic and unfortunately left my vet), when I asked him if they kept the dog for the day he was even more rude. I am single with a dog who is DEAF and I was able to drop him off for the day and pick him up after work with my previous groomer. I don't think that question is out of line. I understand if they don't do that but how he answered was just rude and a complete turn off. If you're busy and cranky- don't pick up the phone. They lost a potential new customer, unfortunately. I was willing to pay the high rate for a great groom and kind people. I would never leave my deaf rescue in this guys hands given his attitude, I'd be afraid he'd snip my dog! read more

What a joke! I feel like I went to different establishment then all these people writing good reviews. I clearly stated when I called that my dog was 60 lbs(large) and very hairy. I was told no problem. I planned my day around his grooming appointment and then, upon arrival was told it was a problem. The man who I was dealing with actually walked in the room and said "oh no, she's big." I have had him groomed 4 times before by 2 different groomers and have yet to hear anything like what I was told there. I have never walked into a groomer or any business for that matter and had someone voice their obvious disappointment of the size of the job that was presented. It says on the website they hand scissor which is what my dog normally gets yet, I was told he could only be shaved. I was told they didn't know how anyone groomed him before. He was groomed 4 weeks ago. I was also given a price of $100 to shave him, that's $30 more then I have ever paid to have him hand cut. To prove a point, he tried to comb my dogs hair by his butt and claimed my dog went to bite him. He touched my dog and my dog turned his head. It's a normal reaction. I wish when I called to make my appointment someone would've told me that there was even a possibility of issue arising. On their website there's a picture of a dog same breed as mine looks to be a similar size with hair that clearly was not shaved so maybe it was just my dog that was an issue. I was even assured by the person who booked my appointment that it would be fine bc they have a dog same breed but double the size of mine that comes in regularly. I live about 20 mins east of this store, a lot of time and disappointment could've been saved with a little honesty and a better attitude on their part. I'm not normally one to complain but they way I feel I was treated and blatant lack of professionalism and consideration I received was unacceptable. What I experienced today was wrong it was a perfect example of how not to treat people when running a business, or in life in general. read more
